Polymeric Disperse Red 1 (DR1)/SU-8 electro-optic (EO) switch incorporating inverted-rib waveguide structure is designed and fabricated by all-wet etching process. The guest-host EO material DR1/SU-8 has been successfully synthetized and its optical properties are characterized in detail. The DR1/SU-8 material presents a low processing cost, an excellent photostability and a large EO coefficient of 15.4 pm/V. The characteristic parameters of both the inverted-rib waveguide and the coplanar waveguide electrodes are carefully designed and simulated. By all-wet etching process, the optimized Mach–Zehnder interferometer switch is successfully fabricated with a lower fiber-to-fiber insertion loss of 9.6 dB. The switch rise time and fall time are 322 ns and 294 ns, respectively.

Abstract The Mach-Zehnder electro-optic modulator (MZM) was designed and fabricated using the AFM COMSOL program and the pulse laser deposition (PLD) technique. The PLD technique was used to deposit silicon, silicon oxide and LN thin film. Previously estimated optical properties of the prepared films were employed in the theoretical design of the modulator. Optimum device parameters were obtained, which delivered a considerable figure of merit (Vπ.L) values within the range of 2.12 to 2.25 at a device length of 2 cm.

AbstractWe report the nanofabrication of Bragg reflector waveguide structure based on barium titanate (BTO) epitaxial thin film grown on MgO substrate and characterized its optical transmission. A low pressure (~1 Torr) nano-lithography was used for the formation of Bragg reflector waveguide structure. We demonstrate that there is sufficient refractive index contrast to form a well-defined stop band by forming gratings in a top strip layer of Si3N4 that was grown on BTO thin film. Simulation of the optical transmission and stop band of TE mode, and electro-optic (EO) modulator tunability are discussed as well. The non-linear photonic crystal waveguides are potentially suitable as tunable optical filters and ultra-wide bandwidth modulators.

ABSTRACTWe discuss our rational approach to incorporate optically nonlinear molecules into polymeric and cross-linked materials through the use of isocyanate-hydroxy coupling chemistry. Thin film fabrication, optical loss, poling, second harmonic generation, and electro-optic properties are discussed.

Results of researches show, that film p-n the structures received by a method of discrete thermal evaporation in a uniform work cycle, are suitable for use in low-voltage devices.  As a result of work are received p-n heterojunctions in thin-film execution, described by high values of differential resistance. Show that, thermo endurance - T0 maybe using as characteristic of thermo endurance of optic materials. If heating flow, destruction temperature and internal surface temperature is measured during test, it is possible to determine value T0 and other necessity characteristics. As a result of the taking test was lead to comparison evaluation of considered materials. Working range of heating flow and up level heating embark have been determined.
