In this work, a simple and low cost synthetic method for four different copper nanomaterials having uniform shape and size using copper(II) acetate and cis-bis(glycinato)copper(II) complex in presence of non-ionic surfactants Tween-80 and Triton X-100 in the presence of ascorbic acid as reducing agent is described. The synthesized nanomaterials were characterized using FT-IR, UV-visible, powder XRD, EDX and SEM techniques. The characterization data reveals that all the copper nanomaterials formed are less than 30 nm size with spherical shape.

The purpose of this article is to synthesize the thiol-and carboxyl-bifunctionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles (CMS-SH-COOH). CMS-SH-COOH was successfully synthesized by co-condensation and post-grafting methods. Moreover, the particle size and structural properties of CMS-SH-COOH were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The obtained results indicated that the CMS-SH-COOH presented a uniform spherical shape with a wormhole arrangement of the mesopores and a relatively narrow paticle distribition. Therefore, the CMS-SH-COOH might be a great potential carrier for the drug delivery system in the future.

Graphene was synthesized by microwave-hydrothermal chemical reduction of graphite oxide using hydrazine hydrate as the reducing agent. Graphene was characterized using X-ray diffraction, UV-visible spectrum, FT-IR spectrum and scanning electron microscopy. Results indicated that the as-prepared graphene was wrinkled and comprised fewer graphenes with a highly crystalline structure.

Silica extracted from rice husk was used as a support to synthesize the monometallic Ag, Co and bimetallic Ag-Co nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were prepared via a sol-gel method by adding glucose as the reducing agent. The prepared nanoparticles were designated as Ag-NP, Co-NP and AgCo-NP. The successful incorporation of Ag/Co onto the silica surface were evidenced by TEM, FT-IR and DR/UV-Vis analysis. The TEM analysis showed the presence of small spherical shape nanoparticles with an average mean size of 3.18-3.57 nm. Through DR/UV-Vis analysis, the presence of Ag+ and cobalt in the oxidation state of +2 and +3 were confirmed, while FT-IR verified the presence of M-O and Si-O-M+ bond.

We describe the synthesis and characterization of a new silver (I) complex of the Schiff base ligand (E) - N-(3-nitrobenzylidene) is onicotinohydrazide that abbreviated as NNBIH was synthesized and characterized. Ag (I) Metal complex of this Schiff base ligand prepared by reaction of nitrate salt of Ag (I) with NNBIH. Characterization of the ligand was made by microanalyses, FT-IR, UV–Visible spectroscopy and its complex was made by microanalyses, FT-IR and UV–Visible spectroscopy. TG- DTA and other analytical methods have been applied to the investigation of the thermal behavior and Structure of the compound [Ag(NNBIH)2]+. Thermal decomposition of these compounds is multistage processes.

A series of chromophores based on benzene and thiophene moieties as π-conjugating spacers were designed and synthesized by Horner-Emmons-Wadsworth reaction and Vilsmeier-Haack reaction, followed by Knoevenagel reaction with different electron acceptors. Their structures were confirmed by 1HNMR, FT-IR, HPLC-Ms, UV-visible spectra, and the thermal properties were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Solvatochromic method was used to measure their nonlinear optical properties. The variation of chromophoric structures on NLO properties was investigated, indicating that the cyano substitution on the vinylene bridge of the chromophore produces a considerable red-shift of the absorption maximum, and would greatly enhance the molecular quadratic hyperpolarizability (βμ).

A new ligand [N-(4-nitrobenzoylamino)-thioxomethyl] phenylalanine is synthesized by reaction of 4-nitrobenzoyl isothiocyanate with phenylalanine (1:1). It is characterized by micro elemental analysis (C.H.N.S.), FT-IR, (UV-Vis) and 1H and 13CNMR spectra. Some metals ions complexes of this ligand were prepared and characterized by FT-IR, UV-Visible spectra, conductivity measurements, magnetic susceptibility and atomic absorption. From results obtained, the following formula [M(NBA)2] where M2+ = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pd, Cd and Hg, the proposed molecular structure for these complexes as tetrahedral geometry, except copper and palladium complexes are have square planer geometry.

A deep eutectic solvent of glucose-urea was found to be an inexpensive and effective reaction medium in the synthesis of piperidin-4-one derivatives. In this work, 3-methyl-2,6-diphenyl piperidin-4-one (4a), 3,5-dimethyl-2,6-diphenylpiperidin-4-one (4b), 2,6-diphenylpiperidin-4-one (4c), piperidin-4- one (4d), 3,5-dimethylpiperidin-4-one (4e), 3-methyl-2,6-di(2-hydroxyphenyl)piperidin-4-one (4f), 3,5-dimethyl 2,6-di(2-hydroxyphenyl)piperidin-4one (4g) were synthesized using a deep eutectic solvent (DES) of glucose and urea with the percentage composition of 60:40. The yields of these products were 82, 78, 75, 68, 72, 70 and 70 %, respectively. The products obtained were characterized by FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopic techniques. A synthesis of piperidin-4-one derivatives by using this green solvent was considered to be new environmentally safe synthetic method.

Azo salicylaldehyde (I5) was synthesized by reaction of 5-bromo-salicylaldehyde with diazonium salt of 4-nitroaniline by diazotization method. Thus, synthesized azoaldehyde was treated with variable 2-aminobenzothiazoles (I6a-f) to synthesize the Schiff bases (I7a-f). The β-lactam derivatives (I8a-f) were also synthesized. All the newly synthesized compounds were characterized by TLC, UV-visible and FT-IR techniques.
