Mucormycosis is an aggressive opportunistic fungal infection caused by fungi of the Phycomycetes class including Rhizopus species and Mucor species. The pathogen can be present in the environment, on the skin, and in the orifices of the body. There are several types including Rhinocerebral, Pulmonary, Gastrointestinal, Cutaneous, and Disseminated Mucormycosis.1 The spores infect the paranasal sinuses and nasopharynx, extending to the orbit and brain cavity in persons who have reduced cellular and humoral defenses. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a surge in the cases of rhino-orbital mucormycosis has become a life-threatening combination. Early diagnosis and intervention in the only way to save the vision and life of the affected patient.

Rhino-orbital-cerebral Mucormycosis also known as orbital zygomycosis. It is a life-threatening deadly complication in post covid patient presenting as pathological involvement of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses with extension into orbital cavity and intracranial compartment as a result of fungal infection caused by fungi in the order Mucorales, mainly Rhizopus oryzae. MATERIAL AND METHOD We present a case series of 5 patient who were biopsy/culture proven invasive rhino cerebral Mucormycosis in post covid-19 patient who were reviewed on MR imaging. MR imaging were recovered from PACS in PMCH Patna and the data was analyzed. RESULT Involvement of para nasal sinuses with adjacent fat standing was present in 100%, orbital involvement was seen in 80%, intracerebral involvement was seen in 60%, mastoiditis was present in 40% of the patient selected in our case series. CONCLUSION MR imaging is helpful in early diagnosis when there is involvement of nasal, paranasal sinus and varying degree of orbital and cranial extension and associated with varying complication

Here, we described a case of disseminated mucormycosis consecutive to Strongyloides stercoralis hyperinfestation in a Surinamese migrant infected with HTLV-1.

Mucormycosis (also known as zygomycosis) is a dangerous but uncommon fungal infection caused by a fungus known as mucormycetes. Mucormycosis can be caused by a variety of fungi. Mucormycetes are fungi that belong to the Mucorales scientific order. Molds can be found all over the place. Mucormycosis is a fungal infection that primarily affects persons who have health issues or who use medications that reduce the body's capacity to resist infections and illness. After inhaling fungal spores from the air, it most usually affects the sinuses or lungs. The majority of people are unaffected by these fungus. Breathing in mucormycete spores, on the other hand, can induce an infection in the lungs or sinuses, which can spread to other regions of the body in patients with compromised immune systems. It can also happen as a result of a cut, a burn, or another sort of skin injury. The fatality rate varied based on the patient's underlying condition, the type of fungus, and the affected body part (for example, the mortality rate was 46 percent among people with sinus infections, 76 percent for pulmonary infections, and 96 percent for disseminated mucormycosis). Antifungal medicines such as amphotericin-B, isavuconazole, posaconazole, and various combinations are used to inhibit the growth. Mucormycosis was studied for its spread, symptoms, treatment, prevention, and consequences.

Background: Mucormycosis is a life-threatening invasive fungal infection most commonly observed in immunocompromised patients. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, a growing number of Mucorales associated infections, now termed COVID-19 associated mucormycosis (CAM), have been reported. Despite an increase in fatality reports, no cases of rhino-orbital CAM complicated with gangrenous bone necrosis have been described in the literature to date. Case: A 56-year-old male with a recent COVID-19 diagnosis developed rhino-orbital mucormycosis after 22 days of treatment with dexamethasone. Cultures and histopathological assessment of tissue biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. The patient survived after treatment with amphotericin B. Conclusions: Mucormycosis is an invasive fungal infection affecting mostly immunocompromised patients. Along with the COVID-19 pandemic, the inappropriate use of steroids, in addition to concurrent risk factors, such as diabetes, has led to an increase in the occurrence of these devastating mycoses, leading to the development of severe presentations and complications, as observed in many cases. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment are crucial in order to avoid dissemination and fatal outcomes.

Mucormycosis (MCR) involving paranasal sinuses is a rare life-threatening opportunistic infection in immunocompromised individuals. In humans, MCR is considered as one of the most rapidly progressive lethal forms of fungal infection with a high mortality rate of 70–100%. During the second wave of COVID-19 in India, the cases of MCR have increased rapidly. We herein report a case of a 70-year-old Indian male with an uncontrolled diabetes diagnosed as maxillary and ethmoid sinus MCR.

Two cases of Aspergillosis in immunocompromised children are reported. Both were caused by Aspergillns flavus. Early diagnosis and treatment led to the remission of the process. One patient had acute myeloid leukemia; the fungus was isolated from the blood. The other patient with bone marrow aplasia, presented an invasive aspergillosis of the paranasal sinuses with dissemination of fungal infection; the diagnosis was obtained by histology and culture of biopsied tissue from a palatal ulceration.

The tongue is able to quickly reflect the state of health or disease of the human body. Tongue inspection is an important diagnostic approach. It is a unique method that allows to explore the pathogenesis of diseases based on the guiding principles of the holistic concept that involves the observation of changes in the lining of the tongue in order to understand the physiological functions and pathological changes of the body. It is a potential method of screening and early detection of cancer. However, the subjective inspection of the tongue has a low reliability index, and therefore computerized systems of acquisition of diagnostic bioinformation have been developed to analyze the lining of the tongue. Next-generation sequencing technology is used to determine the V2–V4 hypervariable regions of 16S rRNA to study the microbiota. A lot of neoplasms are identified only at an advanced phase, while in the early stages, many subjects remain in an asymptomatic form. On the contrary, the early diagnosis is able to increase the prognosis of cancer and improve the survival rates of subjects. Evidently, it is necessary to develop new strategies in oral medicine for the early diagnosis of diseases, and the diagnosis of the tongue as a minimally invasive method is certainly one of them.

Wegener’s granulomatosis is a systemic disease characterized by a granulomatous lesion that can affect any organ throughout the body.This case-report illustrates the problem posed by a patient presenting with bilateral serous otitis media with marked sensorineural hearing loss, facial nerve paralysis and an atypical serological picture. The importance of early diagnosis and the protocol for the management of a patient with an uncertain diagnosis is discussed. Due to atypical presentations, only a high index of suspicion will ensure an early diagnosis.
