At the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (Portugal), an interdisciplinary team is developing a European project on coastal sand dunes. These environments usually seen as simple “piles of sand” are very important coastal ecosystems and have many stories to tell. In order to foster science dissemination and environmental education, it was proposed to the teachers of a high school class to work together with researchers to develop content that allows the diffusion of dunes literacy at schools. This article presents the justification of this proposal and the materials that will be worked. This experience, once tested, is expected to be replicated with other classes and age groups.

The recent evolutions in civil UAV ease of use led the University of La Rochelle to conduct an UAV program around its own potential costal application. An application program involving La Rochelle University and the District of Oleron Island began in January 2015 and lasted through July of 2015. The aims were to choose 9 study areas and survey them during the winter season. The studies concerned surveying the dikes and coastal sand dunes of Oleron Island. During each flight, an action sport camera fixed on the UAV’s brushless gimbal took a series of 150 pictures. After processing the photographs and using a 3D reconstruction plugin via Photoscan, we were able to export high-resolution ortho-imagery, DSM and 3D models. After applying GIS treatment to these images, volumetric evolutions between flights were revealed through a DDVM (Difference of Digital volumetric Model), in order to study sand movements on coastal sand dunes.

Abstract Background Brazil have a huge free health care system. Inspired on UK National Health System (NHS), the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS, that means Unified Health System) was consolidate as a right for all citizens after 1988's Brazilian Federal Constitution. Despite your spread, part of Brazilian citizens have an opposite opinions about SUS. So, the main question is: How to teach the relevance of a universal free health care system as a human right. Objectives The main aim of this work is teaching the recognize of SUS as a human right and ratified by Brazilian Federal Constitution in a High School class. In this sense, we used the cinema and debate for stimulate an effective comprehension of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and health promotion as a human right in a high school class. We used the movie Elysium (Neill Blomkamp, 2013) that show a dystopian world with two social class: citizen and non-citizen of Elysium (an artificial satellite of the Earth with high technology of cure for your citizens). Results The class has three Lessons: in first lesson we teaching about different notions about rights and the UDHR. In the second lesson we teaching about free health care systems in the world and a historical perspective about SUS. The third lesson we show the movie Elysium and proceed a debate. In debate we discuss about citizenship and rights, how the movie show two societies with different rights about work, transport and health, and how this aspects impact the quality of life of human being. Conclusions What options we have? The notion of free health care as a human right isn't an easy concept. So, efforts are needed for this comprehension and cinema can be used, followed by discussion, as a significant teaching tool for achieving humanistic educational objectives about free health care system as a human right in the high school curriculum. Key messages Health care is a human right and free health care system is a concretization of this right. Cinema can be used for stimulate a critical evaluation and effective understanding of rights in a high school classroom.

Abstract E. umbellata is an important deciduous shrub which reaches up to 5 m high and 10 cm in d.b.h. It is found in thickets and sparse woods of Japan, Korea and China. E. umbellata is a shade intolerant pioneer tree and is also commonly found along riversides and seashores in Japan. This species is growing in humid areas with 1000-4000 mm of annual rainfall in Japan. In China it is reported to grow even in semi-arid areas of Nei Menggu, Gansu and Shaanxi province, where annual rainfall is around 400 mm (Niu, 1990). E. umbellata can fix nitrogen and it is tolerant to salt winds, this species is therefore used for fixation of coastal sand dunes in Japan, and is frequently planted mixed with Pinus thunbergii as a soil improving tree. E. umbellata is also planted in eroded areas of mountainous zones to re-establish and develop vegetation. In China, E. umbellata is occasionally cultivated in gardens (Zhang, 1997).

An exploratory examination has been made of three different kinds of hardpans found in humus podzols (Humods and Aquods) of the coastal lowlands of southern Queensland, by means of slaking tests, a reactive aluminium test, acid oxalate and pyrophosphate extractions and electron microscopy. Samples from three indurated layers exposed by erosion or sand-mining in large coastal dunes were included for comparison. The investigation confirmed that, a pan in a bleached A2 (albic E) horizon is most likely caused by particle packing and that a pan in a black B2h (spodic) horizon is cemented by an aluminium-organic complex. Yellow-brown pans underlying black organic pans (spodic horizons) were found to be cemented by both a proto-imogolite/allophane complex and an organic substance. An inorganic reactive Al complex differing from the proto-imogolite allophane recorded in the overlying giant podzols appeared to be main cement of three indurated layers in the nearby coastal sand dunes. Mechanical disturbance of the pans, e.g. ripping, is unlikely to improve drainage and effective soil depth in the long term, because the disturbed zones are expected to be re-sealed by packed particles or by the aluminium-organic complex cement.

This study aims to determine the effect of students' mathematical dispositions on mathematical problem solving abilities of students in class VII of SMP. The type of research used is quantitative. The sample in this study was class VII A, amounting to 30 people who were selected using simple random sampling from 6 existing classes. The type of data in this research is primary data with data collection used using a disposition questionnaire consisting of 28 items and tests consisting of 5 items of description. Testing the hypothesis in this study using a simple regression test. After the data is analyzed the regression equation is obtained as follows: Y = 16,312 + 0.523X. before testing the hypothesis, the data normality test and linearity test were carried out. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the t-test = 3.296 with significance = 0.003 and table = 2.048. then t count = 3.296> 2.048 = t table means that data is normally distributed. To see the achievement of the disposition indicators of junior high school students in the junior high school class, the average of each indicator is calculated and the achievement of the mathematical disposition indicator is 50.08%. Whereas for grouping mathematical dispositions, problem solving abilities obtained the highest dispositions having an average of 63.04, moderate dispositions having an average of 43.56, and low dispositions having an average of 40.51. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an influence of mathematical disposition on mathematical problem solving abilities of students of junior high school class.
