Knowledge about rheological behavior is necessary in engineering calculations for equipment used for processing concentrated suspensions and polymers. Power-law and Bingham models are often used for evaluating the experimental data. This paper proposes the reference radius to which experimental results obtained by measurements on a rotational viscometer with coaxial cylinders should be related.

The rheological behavior of ceramic suspensions affects significantly wet ceramic processing. On the base of knowledge of rheological parameters the technological parameters of various processes (mixing, batching, spray drying, slip casting, of rheological parameters the selection of proper geometry and sensors must be done. From the data measured the flow curves must be designed and parameters of appropriate rheological models must be calculated. The power-law is the simplest model mostly used for description of rheological behavior of non-Newtonian fluids. Using this model, the dependence of shear stress on shear rate can be expressed. The aim of this paper is to show how the flow curves necessary for parameters of rheological model evaluation can be obtained from primary experimental data received from measurements on rotational viscometer. The two arrangements of rotational viscometer method were used in rheological measurements. The procedure of experimental data to obtain parameters K (coefficient of consistency) and n (flow behavior index) is presented.

Recirculation is an important factor in single needle dialysis and, if high, can compromise treatment efficiency. To provide information regarding recirculation characteristics of access devices used in single needle dialysis, we have developed a new technique to characterise recirculation and have used this to measure the recirculation of a Terumo 15G fistula needle and a VasCath SC2300 single lumen catheter. The experimentally obtained results agreed well with those established clinically (8.5 ± 2.4% and 18.4 ± 3.4%). The experimental results have also demonstrated a dependence on access type, pump speeds and fistula flow rate. A comparison of experimental data with theoretical predictions showed that the latter exceeded those measured with the largest contribution being due to the experimental fistula.

Experiments were performed to determine the forces required to buckle a floating ice sheet pushing against structures of different widths. The characteristic length of each ice sheet was determined to enable a comparison to be made between the theoretical and experimental results.Most of the experimental data points are within the range of the theoretical values of normalized buckling loads for frictionless and hinged boundary conditions, which represent the extreme situations for ice-structure contact. Thus, the agreement between the theoretical and experimental buckling loads is considered to be good. Photographs of the buckled ice sheets show a resemblance to the theoretical mode of buckling.

The Brookfield_to_MATLAB and ViscosityApproximation codes for processing of experiments results for determination of viscosity on a rotational Brookfield DV3T viscometer is developed in the MATLAB. The codes allow to carry out automatic capture data, to calculate the shear rate for standard spindles RV-1 ... RV-7, to sort the measurement results on temperatures, to combine the experimental data and to determine the coefficients of the Andrade type power-law model. Paper describes experiment results on determination of viscosity of the epoxy binder reinforced by short carbon fibers. The coefficients of the viscosity model are determined by the linear regression coefficients. The obtained determination coefficient shows a good agreement of the model with the experimental data. The results are used for study various contents of a mass fraction of fibers: 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%.

In this work the rheological behavior of two varieties of honey were evaluated using a Brookfield viscometer R.V.T in a temperature range of 5-20°C. In order to interpret the experimental results in terms of viscosity, the torque-speed data and scale readings were converted into shear stress-shear rate relations using numerical conversion values proposed by Mitschka. This method offers excellent potential for quality control testing in the food industry. Samples exhibited Newtonian behavior and the temperature effect on the viscosity followed an Arrhenius-type relationship.

The rheological behavior of the Ethanol based green gels for use in propulsion systems at temperature range of 100C – 500C is investigated by employing a novel empirical model developed. The study is conducted at various shear rates. Empirically predicted results were observed to be in good agreement with experimental data at higher shear rates for both pure and energized gel system (>100 s-1). Considering the results, the present empirical model is deemed suitable for those Non Newtonian shear thinning fluids which obey Power law.
