The fundamental power generation unit for photovoltaic is solar PV module. The staging of PV array pivot on environmental conditions like operating temperature, solar heatstroke, array layout. PV line-up get partial shadow effect due to shadow of trees, poles, buildings…etc. Under such conditions the array gets more complicated and it will have spare than one alp. It is very dominant to forecast the attributes of PV array under partial shadow effect to procure maximal power. More distant hotspots, discrepancy losses will occur as well as these lead to certainty and constancy problems. It is still more extortionate and difficult to get control pivot of P-V and I-V under partial shadow effect. Sun Power SPR-305-WHT-U solar panel is taken as reference and the learning cornerstone on output power peak at different solar irradiation levels. This paper also deals with the importance of bypass diodes

Renewable energy plays an important role in the national energy policy especially in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. For a photovoltaic (PV) system, one important consideration is the cost of the system. One needs to select the best PV array from a range of selection, that is, the one which is the most efficient and with a best price. This article illustrates a method to compute the size and cost of a required PV array, and then after to compute the required battery for the case of a photovoltaic building in Malaysia. The computation is simulated using Matlab integrated with suitable mathematical equations. The generated current and power of the PV array are calculated for daily solar irradiation in Malaysia. The computation enables the user to quickly compute the initial cost needed to be spent if a given PV system is to be installed. A typical building requiring 12 kWh daily energy with 6 kW peak demand load was shown to need at least 114 solar modules at a cost of about RM53k. It is noted that the main cost of the whole PV system is mainly contributed by the cost of the chosen PV array. Hence, the right choice of a PV module is vital in achieving the minimum cost.

The electrical power generation from solar photo voltaic arrays increases by reducing partial shading effect due to the deposition of dust in modules, shadow of nearby buildings, cloud coverage leads to mismatching power losses. This paper gives the detailed analysis of modeling, simulation and performance analysis of different 4x4 size PV array topologies under different irradiance levels and to extract output power of panels maximum by reducing the mismatching power losses. For this analysis, a comparative study of six PV array topologies are Series, Parallel, Series-Parallel, Total-Cross-Tied, Bridge Linked and Honey-Comb are considered under various shading conditions such as one module shading, one string shading, zigzag type partial shading and total PV array partially shaded cases. The performance of above six topologies are compare with mismatching power losses and fill-factor. For designing and simulation of different PV array configurations/topologies in MaTLab/Simulink, the LG Electronics LG215P1W PV module parameters are used in all PV modules.

Abstract A significant number of cooling technologies have been developed to maintain the PV module temperature within subscribed limits. This paper represents the simulation study of active cooling forced air convection with fins attached to the back of the solar panel using CFD SimScale software. It has been first carefully validated against experimental and numerical results available in the literature. The number of fins and the shape of perforated and dimpled in each fin were varied to compare cooling performance. Three types of fins were adapted into this simulation: traditional fins, circular, and triangle perforated/dimpled fins. The effect of solar irradiation and velocity inlet was also reviewed by applying the nominal operating condition from the experimental works. Results indicated that fin channels are a very effective cooling technique, which significantly reduces the average temperature of the PV cell, especially when increasing the number of fins from 20 to 26 fins. Also, the results show that the dimpled triangle fin had the highest average temperature drop with a percentage difference of 6% compared with the solar panel cooling with traditional fins.

<p><span lang="EN-US">This work proposes an adaptive filter based on a new least mean sixth control approach with incremental conductance method of MPP for 3-phase grid-incorporated photovoltaic (PV) system. The proposed system comprises a PV array, 3-phase DC to AC converter, maximum power point tracker (MPPT), three-phase electronic load, and a 3-phase grid. The combination of solar PV array and the voltage source converter (VSC) supplies power to the grid. The 3-phase inverter as a distribution static synchronous compensator (D-STATCOM) improves the quality of the system performance in case of zero solar irradiation. D-STATCOM also reduces total harmonic distortion (THD) in grid currents, improves power factor, and maintainsa constant voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC). The system modelling and simulation is achieved on MATLAB/Simulink. The proposed system performance has been found satisfactory and conform to IEEE-519 standards.</span></p>

The impact of partial shading on photovoltaic (PV) array is discussed in this paper. The partial shading on PV array can significantly decrease the power generation of PV array. This study examines the modeling of PV module which relates with solar irradiation, temperature, and shading pattern. There are different shading patterns on PV array, such as one-string shading, two-strings shading, and much more. The characteristics of current-voltage (I-V) and voltage-power (V-P) curves for each individual the PV array can be different dependent on the multiple MPPs, maximum power points (MPPs). These multiple MPPs are basically lower than the MPP in case of no shading. Therefore, the total generated energy in an interested time period is usually reduced. As a result, this paper proposes the appropriate arrangement of PV modules in a PV array in order to mitigate the impact of partial shading. Finally, the proposed arrangement of PV modules is tested in a testing system. All the obtained results confirms that the proposed arrangement of PV modules is effective and can be applied in practice.

In recent years, one of the suitable solar photovoltaic (PV) applications is a water pumping system. The simplest solar PV pumping system consists of PV array, DC-DC converter, DC motor, and water pump. In this paper, water pumping system sizing for Libya is evaluated based on a daily demand using HOMER software, and dynamic modeling of a solar PV water pumping system using a Permanent Magnet DC (PMDC) motor is presented in Matlab/Simulink environment. The system performance with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) based on Fractional Open Circuit Voltage (FOCV) is evaluated with and without a battery storage system. In some applications, a rated voltage is needed to connect a PMDC motor to a PV array through a DC-DC converter and in other applications the input voltage can vary. The evaluation of the system is based on the performance during a change in solar irradiation. Using Matlab/Simulink, simulation results are assessed to see the efficiency of the system when it is operating at a specific speed or at the MPPT. The results show that an improvement in the system efficiency can be achieved when the PMDC motor is running at a specific speed rather than at the peak PV power point.

In this paper, modeling and performance analysis of conventional configurations are Series-Parallel (SP), BridgeLinked (BL), Honey-Comb (HC), Total-Cross-Tied(TCT) and proposed hybrid configurations are SP-TCT, BL-TCT, HC-TCT, BL-HC and modified BL(MBL), modified HC(MHC), proposed optimal interconnection type configurations of a 5x5 size solar PV array under ten different partial shading cases it causes shading losses and compare the best configuration with respect to array power, number of interconnections or ties required between shaded modules in the array. The proposed optimal interconnection method reduces the number of ties required between modules and these ties are based on the position of number of shaded modules in the entire solar PV array. For the performance analysis of above 11 configurations, total ten shading cases are considered and compare the result with one un-shaded case-U of an irradiance 1000 W/m2 . The PV module parameters of Vikram Solar ELDORA 270 are used for modeling of above 11 conventional and proposed PV array configurations and simulate the models in MATLAB/ Simulink software.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) system has emerged as one of the most promising technology to generate clean energy. In this work, the performance of monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic module is studied through observing the effect of necessary parameters: solar irradiation and ambient temperature. The single diode model with series resistors is selected to find the characterization of current-voltage (I-V) and power-voltage (P-V) curves by determining the values of five parameters ( ). This model shows a high accuracy in modeling the solar PV module under various weather conditions. The modeling is simulated via using MATLAB/Simulink software. The performance of the selected solar PV module is tested experimentally for different weather data (solar irradiance and ambient temperature) that is gathered from October 2017 to April 2018 in the city of Baghdad. The collected data is recorded for the entire months during the time which is limited between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. This work demonstrates that the change in a cell temperature is directly proportional with the PV module current, while it is inversely proportional with the PV module voltage. Additionally, the output power of a PV module increases with decreasing the solar module temperature. Furthermore, the Simulink block diagram is used to evaluate the influence of weather factors on the PV module temperature by connecting to the MATLAB code. The best value from the results of this work was in March when the solar irradiance was equal to 1000 W/m2 and the results were: Isc,exp=3.015, Isc,mod=3.25 , RE=7.79 and Voc,exp=19.67 ,Voc,mod=19.9 ,RE=1.1

The present paper deals with the development of a simulation model for predicting the performances of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system operating under current meteorological conditions at the site location. The proposed model is based on the cell equivalent circuit including a photocurrent source, a diode, a series and shunt resistances. Mathematical expressions developed for modeling the PV generator performances are based on current-voltage characteristic of the considered modules. The developed model allows the prediction of PV cell (module) behavior under different physical and environmental parameters. The model can be extended to extract physical parameters for a given solar PV module as a function of temperature and solar irradiation. A typical 260 W solar panel developed by LG Company was used for model evaluation using Newton-Raphson approach under MATLAB environment in order to analyze its behavior under actual operating conditions. Comparison of our results with data taken from the manufacturer’s datasheet shows good agreement and confirms the validity of our model. Hence, the proposed approach can be an alternative to extract different parameters of any PV module to study and predict its performances.

Solar irradiation is the primary input for the solar PV module. Different types of PV module are used to get high efficiency such as polycrystalline, monocrystalline and amorphous PV module . Among all module polycrystalline PV cell is the most reliable one. Two valuable inputs of a solar PV cell are solar irradiation and temperature. For temperature, solar PV material is very sensitive. However, solar irradiation has many types of wavelengths, and each wavelength has a different effect on solar cell because each wavelength has different energy frequency. Energy frequency is the primary term which affects the output of PV panel.so in this paper two types of experimental analysis has done to know the effect of the colour spectrum, and another experiment has done to know the effect of different types of plastic on PV panel. The experimental data used to verify the efficiency and output power of the system. The results show how the output power and efficiency of PV affected by these two factors.
