This study describes the implementation of analytical hierarchy process [AHP] in pavement multi-criteria selection problem solving. The practice of expressing flexible pavement distress priority is widely accepted. However, an insistent demand exists for a technique that allows decision makers to determine their priorities, rational weights of the importance of pavement distress priority and the ranking of these factors. In this study, AHP is adopted in selecting the best level of distress in flexible pavements in Malaysia as an example of a tropical region. Knowledgeable and experienced experts in flexible pavement maintenance at jabatan kerja raya [JKR] and Kumpulan Ikram Sdn Bhd [IKRAM] were interviewed; as pairwise comparisons, their inputs were structured. Four criteria are set as follows: cracking, surface defects, surface deformations and patching and potholes. These criteria developed into a few other sub-criteria. Results show that cracking is the most significant factor [0.5500], followed by surface deformations [0.2300], patching and potholes [0.1600] and surface defects [0.0600]. Thus, cracking has the most significant distress among the four factors.

The immediate objectives of this research study is to find out which criteria are the most influential in choosing a bank and to find out which bank is preferred by sustomers between BRI bank and BCA bank in Manado. Quantitative research was adapted as a method in this study and used a questionnaire as a flection of the method. The sample in this study were all customers of Bank BRI, and Bank BCA who had experience with the two banks. The questionnaire will be distributed using the purposive sampling method. The analytical method used in this study is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) where this method can rank criteria and produces weights for each evaluation criterion according to pairwise comparisons of decisions of decision makers of the criteria, so that researchers get a good picture of using the criteria.

Increasing population growth also contributes to the increasing need for homes or dwellings as basic human needs. Many ways people do to meet these needs, among others, by buying from someone else, building it yourself or by buying a house in a housing developer. Houses besides being a basic human need, it is also used as an indicator of one's success and as an asset for business development and an increase in the economic value of the owner. Prospective home buyers certainly have criteria that are considered in choosing a house. Many of the existing criteria are often followed by the availability of more than one choice of the house to be able to meet these criteria. Therefore, the writer tries to try to make a Decision Support System in a Home Purchase that will later help prospective home buyers in deciding which house to buy. The decision-making method used in this system is an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) as a form of decision-making model that is suitable for multi-criteria and multi-alternative problems with the main input being human perception. Combined with the Borda method which is one method of group decision making that can combine the results of perceptual analysis (the results of AHP analysis) from several decision makers. it is necessary to have a group decision-making technique (group decision support system). So that the resulting home purchase decision can be accepted by all decision makers (family). Abstract In the fast-changing internet era, private sale websites attracted an enormous interest from the consumers in especially online marketing of apparel goods. The retailers may garner more benefit if the prior issues for the consumers when they are purchasing apparel products online is known. Reviewing the literature, this study presents the factors in three groups in a hierarchical manner considering the multidimensional aspect of online purchasing of apparel products from private sale websites and then determines the prior issues for the consumers by making pairwise comparisons among these factors using analytical hierarchy process on a sample group of 100 Turkish respondents. The findings revealed that “privacy/security” in terms of online shopping criteria, “product information” in terms of apparel products criteria, and “discount ratio” in terms of private shopping criteria took highest scores of importance when the aspects were analyzed individually. Nonetheless, the parameters regarding the online shopping criteria were found to be more important than the criteria regarding the apparel products and private shopping criteria. In the end, it was also observed that these items that were found to have highest importance were actually corresponding to the risks of the situation.

Talun sub-district is a government institution that provides public services to the public, which at this time there is no assessment of service satisfaction from the community so that the District Talun cannot know the assessment or complaints from the public to public services provided. The research aims to determine the level of public satisfaction of Public Service in Talun Sub-district. AHP is a complex multi-criteria decision-making method, in an unstructured situation into sections that are then shaped into functional hierarchies to present problems to be solved and then build a priority sequence for alternatives by pairwise alternative comparisons based on judgments of decision makers against a system. The appraisal application yields the value of the public satisfaction level and the eigenvector ranked according to the highest data as the final value of the AHP calculation so that the eigenvector value obtained can facilitate the Camat to see which elements of service are not good.

Pemilihan Vendor terbaik oleh Decission Maker dalam menentukan keputusan untuk pengerjaan project harus dilakukan dengan sangat cermat. Berbagai macam kriteria yang kompleks membuat penentu keputusan mengalami kesusahan dalam menentukan pilihan yang sesuai. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) dapat digunakan untuk membantu dalam menentukan keputusan (deciccion Support System) terutama dalam pemilihan vendor IT untuk project yang dilakukan. Dari hasil perangkingan mnggunakan AHP peringkat pertama diduduki oleh GA dengan total nilai 44,18%, CMC di posisi kedua sebesar 31% , Posisi ke tiga oleh PSW sebesar 15,70% dan ESS diposisi ke empat dengan nilai 9,12%. The selection of the best vendor by Decission Maker in determining the decision to work on the project must be done very carefully. Various kinds of complex criteria make the decision makers experience difficulties in determining the appropriate choice. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) can be used to assist in determining decisions Support System, especially in the selection of IT vendors for the project being carried out. From the ranking using the first rank AHP was occupied by GA with a total value of 44.18%, CMC in the second position by 31%, the third position by PSW was 15.70% and ESS was placed fourth with a value of 9.12%.

Abstract In the present time of innovation, conveyor assume an exceptionally indispensable part and have huge significance for material handling in different enterprises. A conveyor is essentially utilized for moving any sort of material from one area to other. It is made with nearer precisions, hence the expense related with manufacturing is additionally high. In this manner, it should work with better productivity. The choice of the best conveyor is a crucial activity for designers. Designers need to recognize different variables that will influence the functionalities of the conveyor system to limit bottlenecks in the system. An efficient methodology should be accomplished for the conveyor selection. Subsequently, the current work aims to the selection process of the best option for conveyor by using four decision making methods such as analytical hierarchy process, technique of order preference by similarity to ideal solution, compromise ranking method and Deng’s similarity based method. The selection is done among four alternatives based on six attributes viz: fixed cost each hour, variable cost each hour, conveyor speed, product width, product weight and flexibility. The analytical hierarchy process is used to determine weights of the attributes based on relative importance of each attribute. It is also observed that A3 conveyor is best suitable conveyor. Hence the above proposed strategies help decision-makers to examine and choose the best conveyor by considering the rank obtained of the alternatives.

The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been used widely to solve multi-criteria selection problem. It is a technique that allows the decision makers to set their priorities and help make the best selection when both tangible and intangible aspects need to be considered. This study uses the AHP to select the best composting technology for the UKM composting centre where the accumulation of organic wastes are generated daily from the cafeteria and landscape activities within the UKM campus. Experts who are familiar and who have some years of experience on solid waste management at UKM were interviewed to do the pair wise comparisons which are structured with four criteria namely environmental, economy, social and technical aspects. These criteria then expanded into a few more sub-criteria. The alternatives for the composting technology are windrow composting and in-vessel composting. The analysis is done using the Super Decisions software. The result shows that technical factor is the most important factor with (0.5000), followed by environmental (0.2517), economy (0.1941) and social (0.0542) factors. The end result shows that windrow composting is the best composting technology according to these four factors with the priority of 0.6236 while composting in—vessel has the priority of 0.3765.

In this paper, a new method for determining weight coefficients by forming a non-decreasing series at criteria significance levels (the NDSL method) is presented. The NDLS method includes the identification of the best criterion (i.e., the most significant and most influential criterion) and the ranking of criteria in a decreasing series from the most significant to the least significant criterion. Criteria are then grouped as per the levels of significance within the framework of which experts express their preferences in compliance with the significance of such criteria. By employing this procedure, fully consistent results are obtained. In this paper, the advantages of the NDSL model are singled out through a comparison with the Best Worst Method (BWM) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) models. The advantages include the following: (1) the NDSL model requires a significantly smaller number of pairwise comparisons of criteria, only involving an n − 1 comparison, whereas the AHP requires an n(n − 1)/2 comparison and the BWM a 2n − 3 comparison; (2) it enables us to obtain reliable (consistent) results, even in the case of a larger number of criteria (more than nine criteria); (3) the NDSL model applies an original algorithm for grouping criteria according to the levels of significance, through which the deficiencies of the 9-degree scale applied in the BWM and AHP models are eliminated. By doing so, the small range and inconsistency of the 9-degree scale are eliminated; (4) while the BWM includes the defining of one unique best/worst criterion, the NDSL model eliminates this limitation and gives decision-makers the freedom to express the relationships between criteria in accordance with their preferences. In order to demonstrate the performance of the developed model, it was tested on a real-world problem and the results were validated through a comparison with the BWM and AHP models.

A joint-analysis by the use of (i) the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) technique of Typical-Analytical-Hierarchy-Process (T_AHP) and Fuzzy-Analytical-Hierarchy-Process (F_AHP) with (ii) the Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) method respectively, was conducted in a sour-crude-oil process industry (SCOPI), focusing on the deviations with economic/health/environmental impact. Consequently, the intention of this paper is dual; that means the first one is the presentation and application of the traditional HAZOP method on a SCOPI, and the second one the illustration and usage of the combined HAZOP_TAHP/FAHP framework in the previous referred industry, via the resulted hazards with economical, health and also environmental impacts, unveiling the sustainable dimension of this approach. The choice of the particular SCOPI for executing the HAZOP process is greatly powerful for the implementation of this approach, due to the plentiful hazards that the process includes, and due to its sophisticated design, as well. Originally, the conventional HAZOP study was carried out for finding out the potential destructive causes of abnormal circumstances in the SCOPI’s establishment. Subsequently, the defined (by HAZOP) hazards with particular economic, health and environmental impacts were elaborated by the T_AHP and F_AHP techniques in order to broaden the HAZOP results and prioritize the risks in the worksite of the SCOPI. It is worthwhile mentioning that this joint-analysis can afford a reliable base to enhance procedure safety and upgrade the occupational health safety’s level (OHS). Likewise, it might be a constructive means for the decision-makers to: (i) evaluate the urgent situation of the restricted resources’ investment, in measures of preventing particular deviations (like the ones with economical, health and environmental consequences), and (ii) to endorse the sustainable growth of this industry, taking into account that a significant part of literature utilized the issue of sustainability as a frame for the development of OHS RAA techniques.
