In recent years area of entrepreneurship has gained significant attention nationally and internationally. It is one of the main skills priorities of national governments and EU council.  Traditionally associated with commercial activity, entrepreneurship has gained traction as a key competence necessary to allow society as a whole to adapt to the changing economic climate. An important aspect particularly in the digital transformation is entrepreneurial orientation (EO) as the proactive nature of businesses of products and services in the market seeking for new innovations by even investing into it in spite of the high risk following it (Miller, 1993). It seems that organizations guided by a combination of market, technology, entrepreneurial learning (EL) and entrepreneurial orientation (EO) are well-positioned to take advantage of the opportunities presented by digital technologies.  Small and medium sized companies (SMEs) greatly contribute to employment and wealth in Europe but there are limited studies into the specific skills needs required for SMEs into the future.  Skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and entrepreneurship allow learners to adapt to changes, communication, digital skills and teamwork allow learners to collaborate and exploit technology in the changing workplace.  Research is a key element of entrepreneurial success, but how these skills particularly workplace-oriented ones improve entrepreneurial orientation has not been widely explored in the literature.  This paper explores the importance of EO and entrepreneurship today, the skills required to allow our society to become more entrepreneurial and identifies the potential of workplace research skills to develop entrepreneurial capacity in all facets of work, particularly within SMEs.

Abstract In recent years area of entrepreneurship has gained significant attention nationally and internationally. It is one of the main skills priorities of national governments and EU council. Traditionally associated with commercial activity, entrepreneurship has gained traction as a key competence necessary to allow society as a whole to adapt to the changing economic climate. Research is a key element of entrepreneurial success, but how these skills particularly workplace-oriented ones improve entrepreneurial culture has not been widely explored in the literature. This paper explores the importance of entrepreneurship today, the skills required to allow our society to become more entrepreneurial and identifies the potential of workplace research skills to develop entrepreneurial capacity in all facets of work, particularly within SMEs. The authors collaborated on many European projects aimed at improving work and education/training of entrepreneurs. The work presented int this paper resulted from surveys conducted within these projects regarding the problems SME staff have in connection with workplace transformation and entrepreneurship education and training. From this the paper proposes a conceptual model to facilitate the development of workplace research skills which will enhance entrepreneurial capacity in SMEs. The problems discussed in this chapter will also be used within the German initiative Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrum with the participation of one author. Companies within this program are eager to improve their workplace research skills and change the learning culture and staff behavior in connection with digital workplaces.

Educational ecosystem is facing rapid changes due emerging technologies and their rapid penetration to daily use. When the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, it only accelerated many of these trends. Nevertheless, some education systems have been able to adapt to the changing situation and digital transformation more easily than others. Digital competence is essential for learning, work and active participation in society in digital transformation context. Given the pressure of change on existing learning institutions and learning models, ICT offers broad opportunities for developing a different view. In order for digital education actors to adapt to the digital transformation in the education sector, they also need to have the skills needed to use technology effectively. However, there is a lack of computer and technological literacy. In Latvia and Lithuania, about one in three workers has limited or no digital skills, and most STEM vacancies remain unfilled because workers do not have the necessary competencies and are not inclined to study or retrain. The aim of the study is to assess the effect of dynamic capabilities for added value educational outcomes during COVID-19 recession. The results of the study revealed that dynamic capabilities have a direct positive effect on value based education outcomes.

Digital Transformation is changing our society as a whole. New digital skills are required in order to be able to participate in the daily life and work. The OCG has designed a concept “Education 4.0” which enables digital basic skills to everyone. The ECDL – a longstanding worldwide accepted IT certificate – plays an important role within this concept.

Woodside is a leading natural gas producer in Australia, operating 6% of the global supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG). From the first LNG plant in the Southern Hemisphere to the largest not-normally-crewed offshore platform, innovation is part of the company’s DNA. Now, Woodside is leading the industry’s digital transformation through an approach of ‘think big, prototype small and scale fast’ that puts people and company strategy firmly at the centre. This paper focuses on the importance of building trust and investing in people to establish a culture where digital transformation initiatives are adopted and can endure.

This article analyses the pre-reform Polish healthcare system, the theory of the recent reform, the early experiences, and the likely future developments. The reform aims to preserve a state-guaranteed egalitarian healthcare system while ensuring optimal use of resources by the introduction of market-type mechanisms. These mechanisms cannot function as intended while sub-national governments, which have little incentive to support restructuring, remain a vital part of the system. An even greater impediment to the proper functioning of the system is the practice of informal payments. Therefore, smaller than expected gains in efficiency and equity, together with demographic and technological pressures on health costs and a political and economic climate which is unlikely to deliver large increases in public spending, are likely to result in a more privatised and unequal health system than is intended.

Today digital economic environment penetrates deeply in different spheres and industries of economy. Now doubt that digital transformations deal not only with outer environment of company functioning but also with their internal business-processes. The outer elements of digital transformation include such business-spaces, which in their essence were born as global, i. e. they are not connected with geographical location or specific segment of buying audience. We mean the development of the so-called digital platforms – ecosystems of digital business, where participants of different profiles or lines of commercial activity can be present, such as logistics, production, finance, marketing, sales, etc. Due to active emergence of outer aspects of digital transformation internal businessprocesses in such digital spaces are also subjected to transformations. These transformations in some cases are inevitable because of rising competition among companies inside one industry on the level of product range being sold and among related industries on the level of services that determine the company value for customers. In the digital business environment classical process approach undergoes serious changes due to transformation of business-models of business running, altered information opportunities, emergence of new digital competences of experts and technological breakthrough. The goal of the research is to develop a competence model of manager for decision-making in conditions of digital environment with regard to factors influencing the process of decisionmaking and advanced methodologies of management, such as Agile. The article shows conditions of digital transformation penetration in the business environment of present day companies, identifies factors of digital transformation impact on decision-making in management within the frames of the process approach, substantiates opportunities and threats of business-process digitalization in managerial decision-making and demonstrates new competences necessary for efficient functioning of business-processes. The authors put forward a complex model of decision-making in digital business environment, which gives an opportunity for companies to make the most effective managerial decisions.

PurposeDigital transformation has had controversial impacts on the way small retailers and stakeholders interact, make decisions, and jointly create value while also transforming the nature of relationships. This paper examines the enabling factors of digital transformation in the small retailers' context through the lens of stakeholder theory, deepening the knowledge about the implications of such transformations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.Design/methodology/approachThe authors employed a mixed methodology based on a single case study, semi-structured interviews, focus groups and a survey to illustrate the dynamics behind and the impacts of the development of a digital platform created to support the commercial activity of 100 small retailer entrepreneurs located in Italy during the 2020 lockdowns. The platform has been developed in partnership with public and private local stakeholders with different degrees of involvement in the project.FindingsThe authors demonstrated that stakeholder relationships based on trust, engagement and empowerment are enablers of digital transformation in entrepreneurial contexts based on analogic relationships and communal sharing relational models. The authors also outlined the implications of empowerment and digital contamination among small retailers.Originality/valueThe authors’ findings foster the understanding of digital transformation in small entrepreneurial contexts by highlighting the potential of digital transformation as a powerful bridge between the urgent call for digitalisation and the maintenance of valuable relationships with customers by small retailer entrepreneurs, supporting the creation of entrepreneurial ecosystems.
