The purpose of this research is analyzing the opportunities and challenges of emergency remote teaching based on experiences of the COVID-19 emergency among teachers and principals of Malaysian schools.  This study explores the perceptions of school teachers of online learning in a program developed in Malaysian school called School from Home during the COVID-19 Pandemic. A qualitative research method was undertaken in two steps.   In the first step, a thematic analysis a qualitative method was used based on a two-step process. The first step consisted a Qualitative study which involved 4 school principals from Grade A and Grade B schools which is selected from four state which is Selangor, Johor, Kedah and Kelantan. In the second step (a Malaysian case study), The results from the interview discussion represented the basis for the second step, in which starting from the main issues that emerged from the online discussion among researches, professors and also Higher Education Offices from Ministry of Education and State Education Officers. The analysis reveals several technological, pedagogical and social challenges. The technological challenges are mainly related to the unreliability of Internet connections and many students’ lack of necessary electronic devices. (Chandler. D, 2017)   The pedagogical challenges are principally associated with teachers’ and learners’ lack of digital skills, the lack of structured content versus the abundance of online resources, learners’ lack of interactivity and motivation and teachers’ lack of social and cognitive presence (the ability to construct meaning through sustained communication within a community of inquiry) (Gordon, 2020) The social challenges are mainly related to the lack of human interaction between teachers and students as well as among the latter, the lack of physical spaces at home to receive lessons and the lack of support of parents who are frequently working remotely in the same spaces. Based on the lessons learned from this worldwide emergency, challenges and proposals for action to face these same challenges, which should be and sometimes have been implemented, are provided.

This chapter presents testimonials of 12 national experts in the field of educational technology concerning the main didactic, technological, and social challenges they faced throughout the “emergency remote teaching” that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic confinement. All experts are professors in Portuguese universities or polytechnic institutions, and they are acquainted with the “distance education” modality. An online questionnaire was applied to these 12 professors in order to collect their opinions about the main challenges during this period. Based on a content analysis technique, the results revealed several technological (e.g., unpredictability of internet connections), didactic (e.g., the teachers' lack of technological pedagogical content knowledge), and social challenges (e.g., the lack of proper physical spaces at home). Based on the lessons learned from this worldwide pandemic emergency, and critically reflecting about it, recommendations are suggested for future action to “distance education” in higher education.

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of online learning at SD 3 Wergu Wetan. This evaluative research uses the Stake model from the planning, implementation stages, and which is then linked to the online learning implementation guide from the Ministry of Education and Culture. Subjects were taken purposively consisting of principals, teachers, and students, as well as parents as measured by interviews, documentation, and observation. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that in planning, the teacher emphasized the achievement of the main indicators, reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, using student worksheets. The implementation aspect, learning process uses WhatsApp, YouTube, and study groups. Parents and internet connections are critical success factors for online learning. Teachers need the training to create their own media. In the output aspect, the average score of students is good but students' abilities are not in accordance with the results achieved because the exam is done at home so that an online assessment is needed that students can do independently. Implementation of online learning has been going quite well and is included in the B category.

Purpose – Qualitative research has made important contributions to social science by enabling researchers to engage with people and get an in-depth understanding of their views, beliefs and perceptions about social phenomena. With new and electronically mediated forms of human interaction (e.g. the online world), there are new opportunities for researchers to gather data and participate with or observe people in online groups. The purpose of this paper is to present features, challenges and possibilities for online ethnography as an innovative form of qualitative research. Design/methodology/approach – Ethnography is about telling a story about what happens in a particular setting or settings. In order to do this online, it is important to revisit, adopt and adapt some ideas about traditional (offline) ethnography. The paper distinguishes online ethnography from other types of research. It draws some generic features of online ethnography and identifies challenges for it. With these ideas in mind the paper presents and provides a reflection of an online ethnography of software developers. Findings – Online ethnography can provide valuable insights about social phenomena. The paper identifies generic features of this approach and a number of challenges related to its practice. These challenges have to do with to the choice of settings, use of online data for research, representation of people and generation of valuable and useful knowledge. The paper also highlights issues for future consideration in research and practice. Practical implications – The ethnography helped the researcher to identify and address a number of methodological challenges in practice and position herself in relation to relevant audiences she wanted to speak to. The paper also suggests different orientations to online ethnography. Lessons learned highlight potential contributions as well as further possibilities for qualitative research in the online world. Originality/value – Online ethnography offers possibilities to engage with a global audience of research subjects. For academics and practitioners the paper opens up possibilities to use online tools for research and it shows that the use of these tools can help overcome difficulties in access and interaction with people and to study a diversity of research topics, not only those that exist online. The paper offers guidance for researchers about where to start and how to proceed if they want to conduct online ethnography and generate useful and valuable knowledge in their area of interest.

Covid-19 has now attacked Indonesia, where the spread of the disease is very fast. Not only in Indonesia, but all corners of the world are currently experiencing a health crisis. In the beginning, the spread of Covid-19 had an impact on economic activity which began to sluggish. This also has an impact on the education system in Indonesia. Until several countries decided to close schools and universities. In an effort to prevent the spread of covid-19, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends temporarily stopping activities that would potentially cause crowds. Even during the outbreak, covid-19 in Indonesia, there were many ways that the government did to prevent its spread through social distancing. Kemendikbud instructed through the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) Directorate of Higher Education Circular No. 1 of 2020 concerning the prevention of the spread of covid-19 in the world of Education to organize distance learning and advise students to learn from their homes. Teachers and students are starting to be required to follow the current situation by using technology as a distance learning medium. One of the media that is being favored by teachers as a learning medium is the Google Classroom application. This application is an application that can make it easier for students and teachers to create effective learning. Given that students today are a generation who are very familiar with the use of technology. The use of technology in learning is an alternative method used by teachers during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Online learning has become a requirement during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Education asks the teachers and students to use online classes during the pandemic. Teaching English using ICT is a challenging condition for teachers. Not all teachers are familiar with ICT. This paper aims to describe the ICT Role and implementation in Teaching English during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: this is a literature review. Literature was searched in Science Direct and Google Scholar databases. Keywords were COVID-19, English Teaching, ICT, implementation, role. Results revealed that ICT in English Teaching is started from CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning), TELL (Technology-Enhanced Language Learners), LMS (Learning Management System), and blended learning. YouTube and WhatsApp are preferred to be done because it is practical. Performance-based assessment is important during teaching English subject because students can learn how to perform, speaking, and debating during the performance. In conclusion, there are many systems available for teaching English using ICT. The systems are CALL, TELL, LMS, blended, WhatsApp, YouTube, and Performance-Based Assessment. The main goal is students’ understanding of the English subjects. The choice depends on study goal, teachers’ and students’ preference also feasibilities.

In 2005, the Ministry of Education of Argentina launched a new policy to allocate public funds to national universities: the contractualization policy. Its purpose is to allocate funds to improve teaching quality based on an institutional plan defined by each university. It is expected that this plan addresses the main weaknesses detected during the external assessment coordinated by the National Committee of University Assessment and Accrediting (CONEAU). This paper presents the main findings of a research project carried out to help in the design of this contractualization policy. The two most important antecedents, the French and the Catalonian cases, are examined through the study of official documents, on-site observation of the French negotiation processes, and interviews with government and university key officials. The study concludes with the main lessons learned from these experiences and shows that this mechanism has clear advantages when aligning the strategic objectives that the government and universities have, in order to improve university quality.

The focus of this research is mainly based on the elementary school level at SDN Jurumudi 5 Tangerang City hoping that this research topic will enable teachers to expand their knowledge about the impact of classroom climate on their students' learning processes. These factors contribute to a relevant classroom environment in classrooms with students of all ages and grade levels. For students to be able to learn in school, it is not only important for teachers to instruct students on what is in the textbooks, but it is also important that the classroom environment allows students to perform to their highest potential. The focus of this research is related to the classroom environment and its impact on student learning. This study will use an evaluation analysis model with a qualitative and quantitative method approach. Through a qualitative approach, the data collected will try to be processed and presented in a description based on expressions, language, ways of thinking, and the views of the research subject. While the method used in this research is evaluation research. In the analysis of this study using the APKG instrument analysis that has been made by the State University of Jakarta. The data that has been obtained were analyzed using the average of the evaluation results with the following criteria with a range of values ​​1 very not good, 2 enough, 3 good, and 4 very good. The results of the researchers showed results with good criteria, while the components in the assessment that was not optimal could be improved by the teacher. Especially in the use of science and technology, this is due to inadequate school facilities. While the components related to methods, the use of learning resources, and class management are very good. In this case, every ideal teacher class is unique and creative and can be an opportunity to build great classroom conditions and situations between teachers and students

This chapter presents the research carried out by teachers and students of 6 junior high school classes on the modern ICT use in didactics. They participated in the “[email protected]” project and were involved in the PoliCultura&Moodle format contained in Learning4All (www.learningforall.it), a section of a national macro-project financed by FIRB (Fondo per gli Investimenti della Ricerca di Base by the Italian Ministry of Education). A short questionnaire focusing on the students’ learning needs and their aptitude for new technologies was administered to students. Some observations were carried out during a normal school day. Some student-centered focus-groups were carried out. A LCMS Moodle environment was planned and implemented to support and expand the educational activities carried out in the classroom. Research has confirmed that technological innovation in school requires a strong support from governance, and teachers who gain the digital competence and a design capacity for innovation in teaching ordinary action.

The present research underlines the importance of communication within an organization among its main stakeholders and its influence on the external market. It passes through explaining the communication in all fields and domains, creating an overview of the institutional communication, and why it is considered difficult to effectively propagate within a large institution. In addition, the internal communication and information and research so far conducted is analyzed with respect to the findings and lessons learned. In addition, it is important to know and understand how the internal communication evolved during years and which were the main approaches identified throughout the organizations. The case study aims to evaluate the level of information and the efficiency and effectiveness of the internal communication process within Bucharest University of Economic Studies with respect to its projects developed and financed through European funds in the last six years. The study is mainly run through the help of the questionnaire that was addressed to teachers and students within the faculty and has also the purpose to help improve the related communication in the foreseeable future based on the relevant findings.
