Driven by sociolinguistic inspirations, the authors make an attempt to assess the teaching of German logistics language in Poland for professional purposes against a broadly understood logistic education and emphasize the aspect of close correlation of the linguistic training outcome with the labor market demand. The intention of the authors is to highlight an important component of the education environment, namely the need to interrelate the proper content-oriented knowledge with linguistic skills of the logistic secondary school students and the university level students dealing with logistics.

It also provides draft recommendations for companies. The research was carried out over the years 2019–2020. Desk–research, Individual In–depth Interview (IDI), and Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) methods were used, as appropriate at each stage of the work. As a result of the research, a competency gap was identified among secondary school students, a catalogue of soft competences was developed, and recommendations were formulated for the Polish educational system at ISCED Level 3 and for entities in the ICT sector.

The Autor describe a training orientation experience intended for fourth and fifth year of secondary school students aimed at promoting conscious access to the university world and facilitating the process of building their own professional prefigurations. These paths led by career advisors, experts in the world of work and guidance representatives involved 16 classes from four institutes for a total of 278 students. Each meeting was structured in two moments: a Photolangage workshop and a seminar, which consisted in making the experts in the field talk with the students of the schools participating in the guidance activity. The Photolangage workshop was followed by a moment dedicated to the meeting with experts from the world of training present in the territory, each of whom described their field of action. As it is written in the Guidelines, the guidance activity should also be done by those who have specific professional skills, who are outside the school and who can introduce the girls and boys to the world of work in order to promote the process of work inclusion. The experts in the area working in the field of education were asked to present to the students the professional profiles for the degree course: social educators, child educators and trainers. The experts called to converse with the students each represented different areas of education and social work: one coordinator of an educational service for children, two company trainers, two social planners. Each of the eight meetings included, at the beginning of the activity, the administration of a semi-structured questionnaire aimed at surveying the students' previous knowledge about the educator's field of action, the skills of this professional profile, as well as future aspirations and expectations with respect to the guidance experience.

The choice of the university course to attend and therefore indirectly the professions connected to it, constitutes a complex operation for a student who finishes secondary school (Vulperhorst, 2020). This choice becomes more difficult if we are talking about courses of study that train border professions, as in the case of university courses in the socio-psycho- pedagogical field, assimilated, in the common feeling, to the point of confusing the borders. The accompaniment of secondary school students oriented towards these professions requires adequate tools for exploring the same, tools that allow them to analyze the congruence between their interests, skills, personal attitudes and the chosen professional profiles. For this purpose we have built and validated a tool for socio-psycho-pedagogical professions, to be used in differential orientation paths for students who need assistance in the discrimination of the paths that lead to the training of educators, teachers, psychologists and social workers. We will start the contribution with an analysis of the dysfunctional choice mechanisms that most typically lead to inappropriate choices in the study paths indicated, to then arrive at illustrating the original tool.

During the initial years of the L.E.A.D. program, one of its core values was to incorporate Outdoor and Experiential Education (O.E.E.) for students identified as ‘in-risk' of not graduating. Teacher candidates at the University of Windsor enrolled in the L.E.A.D. program were encouraged to embrace O.E.E. to assist students in building skills that promote overall personal and social development. A major component of the L.E.A.D. program was for teacher candidates to plan O.E.E. activities such as a 3-day overnight camping excursion and a retreat to the Ojibway Nature Centre and Ojibway Park. Embarking on these O.E.E. activities with selected secondary school students deemed to be ‘in-risk' accompanied by a group of caring adults provided the opportunity for rich outdoor experiences for all participants. This chapter highlights and explores the various O.E.E. activities experienced by L.E.A.D. teacher candidates and L.E.A.D. program students ‘in-risk', and shares research that describes the benefits of participation in O.E.E.

This work is part of the project “Determining factors in the reading habits of secondary school students. A study from the variables of the educational context” (PR2017040), funded by the Own Research Plan of the University of Cádiz. The main objective is to know the reading consumption of Spanish teenagers. Specifically, the consumption of analog reading of students of 1st year of Compulsory Secondary Education in Spain is studied. A sample of students from the province of Cádiz (n=664) and from other Spanish provinces (n=192) responded to a questionnaire about their reading habits. It allowed, in the first instance, to determine if informants enjoy reading and, later, to gather information about what and in what format they read, the criteria on which they are based to choose their readings, how much time they dedicate to read and where they get their readings. The results indicate that this sector of the population prefers reading adventure books, chooses books by subject, reads more during holidays and uses their own books. However, it is confirmed that the development of the reading habit is still a subject to pass.
