AbstractThis second part of a two-part series exploring implications of the natural differences between the sexes for the cultural evolution of marriage considers how the institution of marriage might evolve, if Kant’s reasons for defending monogamy are extended and applied to a future culture. After summarizing the philosophical framework for making cross-cultural ethical assessments that was introduced in Part I and then explaining Kant’s portrayal of marriage as an antidote to the objectifying tendencies of sex, I summarize Kant’s reasons for rejecting polygamy and for viewing monogamy as the only ethically acceptable form of marriage. Finally, I argue that if we apply Kantian principles to the real situation of marriage in many modern cultures, and if we wish to maintain a legitimate place for marriage in the future evolution of human culture, then the future evolution of marriage laws must recognize polyfidelity (i.e., plural marriages for both men and women) as being just as legitimate as monogamy.

The Palazzo del Podestà, situated in the centre of Mantua, has Medieval origins, but it is the result of many additions and reconstructions and it is now abandoned. In 2005 the Town Council commissioned the Politecnico of Milan a research on the real situation of the palaces, in order to determine the future possible uses of the buildings. The causes of the structural decays were investigated and furtherly studied by means of a comparison between archive records and diagnostic tests.

Notaries as public officials have full responsibility towards the construction of Authentic Deed. This regulation is arranged in Law Number 2 2014 about the amendment of Law Number 30 2004 about the position of Notaries. However, in the real situation, whether it is caused by less knowledge, circumspection or fairness from Notaries in constructing a deed, it causes counterfeiting information which also causes disadvantages to the parties concerned. Therefore, the main legal issue raised in this study was the regulation of Notaries’ responsibility as the results of counterfeiting information in the deed that they made, with some legal sub-issues which were the question of whether the law has been set on Notaries’ responsibility who had forged statements and how the legal protection for the parties as a result of Notaries who falsified information in the deed that they made.Through prescriptive research, with laws approaching, conceptual, cases and legal histories, then performed identification and systematization steps on legal materials and then it was analyzed to get the conclusion. The results showed that the regulation of Notaries’ responsibility due to counterfeiting information in the deed that they made was not set entirely in the Laws of Notaries’ position and the Conduct Code of Notaries, however the Notaries could be accountable his deed civilly based on acts against the law in Article 1365 of Civil Laws, and could be accountable criminally regarding counterfeiting information which is arranged in Article 263, Article 264 and Article 266 in the Book of Criminal Laws. It included the setting up of legal protection for the parties concerned due to counterfeiting description in the deed that Notaries made, and also it was not particularly set in the Laws of Notaries’ position. The setting of Notaries’ responsibility due to counterfeiting information in the deed that they made should be arranged clearly in the future, including imposing sanctions for violations committed by Notaries due to counterfeiting information.

One of the main concerns is the nature of the missing values. Let’s consider extremes for simplicity. If missing at random we have not to care about. But if missing shows structures that covariate with substantive variables we have to make decisions. There are, in fact, several options to take. We are speaking about one country, one mode. But if you go cross-cultural (or more precisely, cross-state nations) and mixed modes many questions raise. For example, the simple one. What are we comparing? Reports and books usually go straight into variables distributions and coefficient comparisons. This is possible because the annalist presume "tabula rasa" effect from data collections procedures. But this is not, frequently, the real situation. This paper will expose the mixed missing mode imprint in international surveys. This will help to evaluate how deal with this problem. Also, to consider the real meaning of observed cross-national differences.

Abstract This first part of a two-part series exploring implications of the natural differences between the sexes for the cultural evolution of marriage assesses whether Kant should be condemned as a sexist due to his various offensive claims about women. Being antithetical to modern-day assumptions regarding the equality of the sexes, Kant’s views seem to contradict his own egalitarian ethics. A philosophical framework for making cross-cultural ethical assessments requires one to assess those in other cultures by their own ethical standards. Sexism is inappropriate if it exhibits or reinforces a tendency to dominate the opposite sex. Kant’s theory of marriage, by contrast, illustrates how sexism can be egalitarian: given the natural differences between the sexes, different roles and cultural norms help to ensure that females and males are equal. Judged by the standards of his own day and in the context of his philosophical system, Kant’s sexism is not ethically inappropriate.

AbstractThis article invites reflection on the theological purposes of the education of church leaders. It is conceived as a piece of practical theology that arises from the challenge to the Wesley House Trustees in Cambridge to reconceive and re-articulate their vision for theological education in a time of turbulence and change. I reflect on Wesley House’s inheritance as a community of formation (paideia) and rigorous scholarship (Wissenschaft); and on the opportunities offered for the future of theological education in this context by a serious engagement with both the practices and concepts of phronēsis and poiēsis and a dialogical understanding of biblical wisdom, as Wesley House seeks to offer itself as a cross-cultural community of prayer and study to an international Methodist constituency.

The article comments on the concept of «socialism with Chinese specificity», which forms the ideological basis of the «Chinese miracle». The ideological origins of this concept, starting with Confucianism, are revealed. It has evolved to become increasingly pragmatic and to adapt to the realities of national and global development. The relation of this concept with the Marxist concept of socialism is shown. The article substantiates the fundamental theoretical thesis that in the objective-essential sense (in the elimination of, in particular, national specifics) Chinese society is a transitional form to socialism (a certain analogue of the Soviet society of the NEP period). The author talks about a «heterogeneous», «mixed» socio-economic system, the vector and nature of the future evolution of which will depend crucially on the strategic course of the CPC.
