Abstract The article deals with a theoretical analysis of foreign educational experience in solving scientific problems of forming future teachers’ aesthetic culture. Given the current socio-cultural situation, it has been noted that a teacher who developed his/her aesthetic culture can make a direct contribution to the social and cultural challenges of a changing world. Based on the study of scientific and pedagogical literature, normative and legal support and the content of practical courses, the author has revealed the peculiarities of forming future specialists’ aesthetic culture in foreign countries (Japan, Germany, Canada, the United States, England). Special attention has been paid to the aesthetic potential of fine arts in forming future teachers’ aesthetic culture, which ensures the harmony of intellectual and aesthetic development of personality, enriches the emotional and sensual sphere, develops cognitive and creative activities, aesthetic needs and tastes, stipulates for future teachers’ involving in the process of artistic and aesthetic culture of the nation. The performed analysis proves that the forming of future teachers’ aesthetic culture should be based on the intercultural approach; the ideas of interrelation between aesthetic and ecological in aesthetic education; integration relations between powerful potential of fine (visual) arts, environmental science and aesthetic creativity. The experience of foreign educational practice may be adopted by domestic universities to form individual aesthetic culture of future teachers.

After completing architectural studies in the United States in 1952, Muzharul Islam returned home to Pakistan to find the country embroiled in acrimonious politics of national identity. The young architect began his design career in the midst of bitterly divided notions of national origin and destiny, and his architectural work reflected this political debate. In Modernism as Postnationalist Politics: Muzharul Islam's Faculty of Fine Arts (1953–56), Adnan Morshed argues that Islam's Faculty of Fine Arts at Shahbagh, Dhaka, embodied his need to articulate a national identity based on the secular humanist ethos of Bengal, rather than on an Islamic religious foundation. With this iconoclastic building, Islam sought to achieve two distinctive goals: to introduce the aesthetic tenets of modern architecture to East Pakistan and to reject all references to colonial-era Indo-Saracenic architecture. The Faculty's modernism hinges on Islam's dual commitment to a secular Bengali character and universal humanity.

In preparing my talk for a panel on “Whiteness and Technoculture” for the Society for the Social Study of Science in Boston, I wanted to think about the relationship of my research on the technocultures of the online pornography industry to the events in Charlottesville, which occurred only weeks earlier. Two trends within the online pornography industry came immediately to mind. The first is the aesthetic of “white innocence” as sexual fantasy that reveals a cultural conversation between the mainstream gay pornography industry and white nationalism in the United States. The second is the emergence of affiliate networks that aim to curate content for “unique male viewers” because the internet is, curiously, awash in “female-focused” content. Both of these phenomena seem particularly relevant at a time when white fragility, toxic masculinity, “men’s rights,” and xenophobia have been given explicit approval by the newly elected U.S. President, Donald Trump. These forces have long defined the United States, but they also reveal the way in which this presidency is uniquely awful and dangerous.

AbstractConsidering the aesthetic and social value of music making amongIssei, first generation Japanese in California, opens a line of inquiry into how this immigrant population negotiated their cultural and political identities in a nation that racially marginalized them. As an integral aspect of Japanese culture, music was a medium through which Issei leaders chose to claim a cultural space in the United States. Their efforts to establish themselves within the social fabric of mainstream American society reveal the social and political forces that prevented their acceptance and assimilation. Issei responded by showcasing traditional Japanese music to educate white Americans about their revered heritage, singing songs for comfort and familiarity, and encouraging their children to perform Western music as an acculturative strategy. Caught between two nations, Issei emerged with alternative identities that ultimately failed due to the racist ideology governing American citizenship.

AbstractInstitutional archiving of media is neither new nor strange. The United States Library of Congress has been preserving printed materials, newspapers, photographs, film, and even websites for decades—if not centuries. After seven years, in later 2017, the initiative to build a Twitter Archive came to a halt. Through a textual analysis of policy papers, preservation theories and press releases, this study illustrates the social, cultural, and symbolic challenges of institutional archiving of digital media.

This essay explores five exhibitions created for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Artmobile, the first mobile art museum in the United States. The mission of the Artmobile was to bring works of art directly to citizens throughout the state of Virginia from 1953 to 1994. In analyzing educational and exhibition materials, such as exhibition booklets, audio guide recordings, press releases, and speeches, this research examines the educational philosophies of each exhibition in relation to contemporaneous museum education literature. Applying Tony Bennett’s analysis of the impact of culture on the social to the creation of educational philosophies, this essay argues that while the mission of the Artmobile remained constant, there was a shift in the educational objective from the development of cultured citizens through art appreciation and the improvement of public taste to fostering individual visual literacy and encouraging visitors to make art historical and personal connections.

Introduction: the article analyzes current legislation of Russia and some foreign countries as well as the views of Russian and foreign scholars on the legal status of individuals as subjects of the social security legal relations in the context of the social risk management (SRM) conceptual framework. Purpose and objectives: based on the modern ideas of social risks, to study the status of individuals as actors within the SRM system having specific rights and responsibilities. Methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific and legal information, historical and comparative methods. Results: today social security is considered a vital part of the SRM system. Having analyzed the specific features and dynamics of social risks, the authors conclude that to some considerable degree these risks are subjective in nature, which should determine a more active role of individuals. The article analyzes not only the legal personality of individuals in the social security legal relations but also – in a broader context – their agency in the SRM system. The authors provide examples of legislative regulation in some foreign countries: the French Republic, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the United States of America. Different models of the individuals’ participation in the SRM system are presented. Based on the extent of different SRM subjects’ involvement and the distribution of the responsibility for the protection against social risks among them, the authors identify paternalistic, market-based (liberal), mixed (complex), and transitional models. Based on the extent of the individual’s interest in the protection against social risks and their readiness for taking actions in this sphere, the authors distinguish active and passive SRM models (with the latter one including indifferent and parasitical models). Conclusions: the paper offers a new approach to the understanding of social risks and protection against these (including through social security), and also to the role of individuals as subjects of social risk management.

<p>The purpose of this article is to study the personality dominant values in Graphic Design students from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. A scale developed by Allport, Vernon and Lindsey called: <em>Study of values. A scale for the measuring of personality dominant interests </em>was used. The sample was applied to 124 students, men and women, from the different semesters in the current term 2015 A. It was proven that the prevailing dominant values are the economical and the aesthetic. An outstanding finding is the fact that less importance is paid to values associated with the religious, the social and the political.</p>

The article raises the social problem of Ukrainian society – the reducing of the level of spiritual and aesthetic culture of youth. Its solution is addressed to the educational sphere and involves the improvement of teacher training at the level of professional excellence. The training of Musical Arts teachers who exercise a direct influence on the formation of the spiritual world the aesthetic culture of students is of particular interest. High professionalism, thorough mastery of the vocal voice allows you to captivate students, introduce them to the world of musical arts, achieve artistic impact on the personality of the student, and instill love of performing activities. The development of folk song folklore in the process of vocal training aimed at Musical Arts teachers is considered as the path to the most convenient and natural acquisition of vocal and performing skills. Various aspects of the study related to the systematization, storage and popularization of the Ukrainian folklore have been examined by numerous researchers. The article presents the technique, the development of the Ukrainian song folklore, the main principle of which is the phasing and consistency based on a concentric presentation of the material. The content of each stage has been grounded, the corresponding effective methods and principles have been indicated. The advantages of using the Ukrainian folk songs as a means of educating national identity the formation of the spiritual and aesthetic culture have been indicated. It is shown that the inclusion of song-folklore works in the repertoire allows us to solve the problems of forming vocal skills and performing skills. The genre features that create natural amenities in the process of developing the vocal voice of future teachers of Musical Arts have been highlighted. The object of this research is the social relations established with regards to the sales of personal weapon in the United States, Japan, and Germany. The subject of this research is the legislation of the aforementioned countries, which regulates the sales of weapon for civilian population. The key goal lies in elaboration of the models of legal regulation of the sales of personal weapons based on the analysis of normative legal acts. The article reveals the peculiarities of establishment, development, and current state of legal regulation of sales of personal weapons abroad using the example of three countries &ndash; United States, Germany, and Japan. The scientific novelty of the conducted research consists in description of the three contrasting models of legal regulation of sales of personal weapons: liberal-permissive, prohibitory-paternalistic, and combinatory. The conclusion is made that the choice of the method of legal regulation of sales of personal weapons depends on the objective factors the country exists in, namely: social, political, cultural, ideological, religious, as well as historical experience of the country, regulation of domestic social issues, population mentality, presence or absence of the &ldquo;war status&rdquo;. There is yet no universal model for regulation of the sales of personal weapon. Most efficient implementation of the indicated models is possible only in case of the balanced consideration of all objective actors for each particular country.
