This paper draws attention to two aspects of change; first, the rate of social change is a source of concern, to this is added that both the configuration of changes and the values dimension, add to those concerns. Change makes it hard to keep up, and is the generator of much stress. We need to apprehend that such a point applies strongly to all enterprises, in particular to governance issues. This article holds that the rate of change is compounded by a constantly changing configuration. To ameliorate those concerns it is held that there needs to be both an expression of agreed basic principles, and recognition that values are one of the most vital parts of that selection. In this the debate and explication of guiding principles, particularly in governance, that is crucial. The main point here is to again emphasise the complexity that results not only from the rate of change but also the configuration and moral values that it constantly tests. It is only by direct consideration that concern over such issues be reduced. It is also held that an explication of basic principles is a significant aid to coping with the source of such stress.

AbstractAfter reviewing the major variations in how individualization is interpreted and explained, this article turns to the World Values Survey (WVS) data to empirically investigate one central aspect of individualization, namely, the connection between religiosity and moral values. That analysis demonstrates, first, that rates of decline in levels of religiosity in most advanced industrial states have been quite modest. The rate of change in moral outlooks, by contrast, has been much more striking. Those two core findings, we argue, draw attention to the question of what explains these cross-national and cross-time variations. The remainder of the article empirically explores a variety of plausible explanations. The results of that analysis reveal not only significant variations between European and North American publics, but also that associational behavior plays a significant role in gearing the dynamics of individualization.

In this paper the author discusses the views and statements of the French football player Thierry Henry he gave after his illegal play during the playoff match between France and the Republic of Ireland to claim one of the final spots in the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. First, by controlling the ball with his hand before passing it on for the goal Henry has shown disregard for the constitutive rules of football. Then, by stating that he is "not a referee" he demonstrated that for some players rules are not inherent to football and that they can be relativized, given that for them winning is the goal of the highest ontological status. Furthermore, he has rejected the rules of sportsmanship, thus expressing his opinion that the opponents are just obstacles which have to be removed in order to achieve your goals. Henry's action has disrupted major moral values, such as justice, honesty, responsibility and beneficence. The rules of fair play have totally been ignored both in Henry's action and in the Football Association of France's unwillingness to comment on whether a replay should take place. They have ignored one of the basic principles stated in the "Declaration of the International Fair Play Committee", according to which, fair play is much more than playing to the rules of the game; it's about the attitude of the sportsperson. It's about respecting your opponent and preserving his or her physical and psychological integrity. Finally, the author believes that the rules, moral values and fair play in football are required for this game to become actually possible to play.

This book presents the case for Compassionate Reasoning as a moral and psychosocial skill for the positive transformation of individuals and societies. It has been developed from a reservoir of moral philosophical, cultural, and religious wisdom traditions over the centuries, combined with compassion neuroscience, contemporary approaches to conflict resolution, public health methodologies, and positive psychological approaches to social change. There is an urgent need for human civilization to invest in the broad-based cultivation of compassionate thoughts, feelings, and especially habits. This skill is then combined with moral reasoning to move the self and others toward less anger and fear, more joy and care in the pursuit of reasonable policies that build peaceful families, communities, and societies. There are many people who work for the sake of others, and tend to be kinder, more reasonable, more self-controlled, and more goal-oriented to peace. They are united by a set of moral values and the emotional skills to put those values into practice. The aim of this book is to articulate the best combination of those values and skills that lead to personal and communal sustainability, not burnout and self-destruction. The book pivots on the observable difference in the mind—and proven in neuroscience imaging experiments—between destructive empathic distress on the one hand, and on the other, joyful, constructive, compassionate care. Facing existential threats to life on the planet, humans can and must make such skills universally sustainable and ingrained.

The reference to humanity, equity and moderation as moral values on the basis of which the existence of common moral values in Christianity and Islam will be established, in addition to their emphasis in the teachings of Christianity and Islam as the most important, is also based on their representation in the ontological - anthropological definition of the term of human. In the views of many philosophers about what is human nature, or what it means to be human, there is always at least one of the listed moral values, or any of its manifestations.According to Confucius, the individual can achieve moral excellence by consciously nurturing nobility such as humanity, then righteousness, righteousness, wisdom, sincerity, and courage. For him, humanity is a general nobility, a virtue on which all other nobilities are further founded.Ancient philosophers strive to determine what would be the highest good, which would determine the meaning of human life.In Jainism, in Indian philosophy, the basic principles are: respect (achims), truthfulness, celibacy, rejection of property, and acceptance of only what is being received as a gift.Kant assumed that what he called "a categorical imperative" is a fundamental law of all ethics.According to Schopenhauer, actions that must be given moral value are voluntary equity, purity of humanity, and sincere tribe. In support of the indication of moral content and the importance of humanity, equity and morality, the results of the review of the "Institute of Global Ethics" will be presented, obtained during the annual meeting of the World Forum in San Francisco in 1996.From the above it is possible to perceive the importance of humanness, equity and moderation have in the moral determinations of many people from different societies.

As an agent of civilization and social change, Islamic education is in the atmosphere of modernization and globalization required to play a role dynamically and proactively. Its existence is expected to contribute significant and positive change for the improvement and advancement of the Muslim civilization, both in theoretical and practical intellectual matters. Islamic education is not only a process of transformation of moral values to shield themselves from the negative access of globalization and modernization. But the most urgent is how the moral values that have been planted by Islamic education can play an active role as a generator that has a liberating power from social pressure and the crush of cultural backwardness, ignorance, and poverty in the midst of economic and social mobility that is so rapid. For this, it is required constructive effort through Monochotomic Islamic Education. Thisepistemological approachprovides understandingandskills that are integral and comprehensive. Someone who knows the process of any activity must know the outcome. Conversely, many who know the result but do not know the process. Students who are given bread and enjoy it are different with students who are invited to make bread and then enjoy it. Surely the knowledge of students who know the process of making bread and to enjoy it is more fully, sturdy, and memorable. This work addresses the question: How is respect for nature to be learned? In this aspect, we bring the perspective of virtue ethics. To be respectful towards nature is to develop a certain attitude within us. This attitude can be inculcated among human beings through relevant education. Proper education will build up a new awareness showing the need for being respectful towards nature. Environmental laws have been enacted by governments to help solve the environmental crisis.  Yet it is true that the environment can be protected through these laws but it cannot be done fully. We conserve our environment out of fear of punishment. This is the main reason why our environmental laws fail. It is through moral awareness and action it can be done in a better way. Hence ultimately education can provide an important insight in our dealing with the environment. Hence education plays a major role in restoring environmental crisis. Man’s attitude towards nature depends on the type of education he receives. This work argues that, through education, we can cultivate an attitude of respect towards nature. This will enable us to see in what way the attitude of respect for nature could be an instrument for the protection of nature. In this connection, we have taken help from O.P Dwivedi’s idea of basic principles and environmental codes on the basis of which, as he argues that environment can be better preserved. He has also suggested certain guiding principles for environmental management. Hence with these principles, human beings can become good stewards of nature with the attitude of respect for nature.

The relevance of the study of the problem of Christian axiology is due to the growing interest in religion and the associated change in world outlook and values in contemporary Ukrainian society. The study of religious values is caused by the urgent problem of finding universal moral values of social development and clarifying the content, structure and nature of their functioning. However, all the basic principles of Christian doctrine acquire character of value only in the presence of subjective attitude, their personal importance for the believing individual. Only in this way can religious values influence the motivation of actions and determine human behavior.
