The article examines the results of the parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic, which took place on October 8-9, 2021. During them, the ruling ANO movement, headed by Prime Minister A. Babis, suffered an unexpected defeat. The winner of the vote was Together coalition, a three-party coalition with the goal of removing the Prime Minister due to his controversial reputation and alleged violation of democratic governance. The paper substantiates the decline in the popularity of ANO movement, outlines the opposition’s tools in the fight against the main competitor. Author characterized the reasons that led to the reduction of the representation of the Czech Pirate Party in the new composition of parliament, one of the favorites of pre-election sociological research. The factors of support growth for the movement «Mayors and Independents» are identified. Author paid attention to the historical failure of the Czech left. The author notes that according to the vote results, the Czech society remains polarized and disunited due to the presence of a large population group that does not agree with the ideology of the victorious forces

An analysis of two important Czech films dealing, hesitantly, with Christological themes enables an engagement with contemporary Czech society. The two films, Forgotten Light and Divided We Fall occasion reflections on Christ's triple office of Priest, Prophet and King and the continuing power of the Christ story in popular Czech culture. This leads to an interpretation of the films and their messages, set against the backdrop of religious life in the Czech Republic as demonstrated in sociological research. Theologians can learn with the filmmakers how to address the new religiosity present in the society, post-ecclesial but not post-belief.

On the eve of the next parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic (October 2021), the leader of the electoral race changed. It was the Czech Pirate Party (CPP), which squeezed out the ruling movement of Prime Minister A. Babiš ANO (Action of Dissatisfied Citizens). It is highly probable «pirates» will head the Cabinet of Ministers in the fall of 2021. The situation emerging in the Czech Republic is unique, since for the first time in world practice, the national government will be headed by a Pirate party. The article examines the transformation of CPP from a «single issue party» to its current position. The features of the CPP functioning are indicated, the circumstances of the growth of its popularity are revealed. An explanation of the reasons for the weakening of the ANO is also given.

In the summer of 2021, the ANO movement, led by Prime Minister of the Czech Republic A. Babiš, regained the positions lost at the beginning of the year and topped the rating of the country's political forces. The article examines the main program documents of the key contenders for the composition of the Cabinet following the results of the autumn parliamentary elections. The author notes the use of non-traditional methods of attracting potential voters by ANO. In turn, his opponents, realizing the futility of using anti-corruption rhetoric, focused on creating an image of the prime minister as a politician, which casts doubt on the pro-European course of development of the Czech Republic. Such suspicions were not well-founded. They were based, firstly, on the fact that he pursued a multi-vector foreign policy, and, secondly, on the fact that the internal one contained national-conservative elements inherent in the governments of Poland and Hungary.

This assessment of societal readiness and resilience to water-related situations in the Czech Republic focuses on an interdisciplinary approach in the Czech Republic for solving this problem. The goal of the article is to evaluate and characterize the preparedness for handling water-related crises. The analysis is carried out via a SWOT analysis, which is a universal analytical method used to understand and interpret strengths and weaknesses and to identify opportunities and threats. For the calculation of the weight factor of the SWOT analysis, an assessment was determined based on the multicriteria analysis. The pair comparison method was used to determine the relative importance of the parameters of the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The Fuller Triangle method was chosen for the system used to make the comparisons of the individual criteria. The uniqueness of the study consists of the issue of water management, which is thus reflected from a non-traditional perspective, being a contemporary model—the paradigm of the view on the preparedness of the planning documentation as one of the characteristics of societal resilience for water-related crises. The result of the research is the fact that a positive approach prevails in the researched area from the perspective of preparedness for water-related crises. For the creation of the conditions, the factors arising from the internal environment currently prevail slightly over those arising from the external environment.

The general objective of the study was to assess the main drivers for visiting the forest and the frequency of the visits in the Czech Republic. A nationwide collection of data of the sociological research as part of The Market & Media & Lifestyle Research Project was carried out every year in the Czech Republic under the licensed cooperation with Kantar Media. The project is unique by the large scope of the questions in the questionnaires and by the high number of respondents. A total of 8794 Czech inhabitants aged 12 years and above from all the regions were involved in the survey in 2018. Information about the socioeconomic and demographic characteristics of all the respondents were obtained. In the closed questions, the respondents reported the frequency of the forest visits and its drivers. The main driver for visiting the forest was just to go for a walk or just to enjoy the outdoors, especially during their holidays or weekends, amounting to 79% of the inhabitants. Meditation and relaxation as well as sport in the forest, were also considered as important motives for forest recreation. On the contrary, 95% of the visitors did not practice game hunting, although game has a long tradition in the Czech Republic. Improvement on managing the forest for recreation should focus on participatory forest management to find a consensus between the public and forest stakeholders. Common decisions may help set up forest recreational goals with positive impacts on forest ecosystem services.

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) morbidity and mortality rates in the Czech Republic are among the highest in the industrialized world. Due to the substantial burden CVD plays on the health and well being of the Czech society, a variety of health promotion/disease management strategies to reduce CVD risk need to be designed and implemented. A project that combined community-based health education programs designed to address pervasive perceptions and cultural traditions that influence lifestyle factors, with secondary and tertiary prevention clinical strategies to aggressively treat high-risk individuals was recently conducted in Dubec, a small Czech community. This article describes the methods used in this project (i.e., the Healthy Dubec Project) which took American-based technology and experiences in community risk reduction methods and clinical management strategies for high risk patients and adapted them to fit the Czech people and their attitudes about CVD risk behaviors.
