The following papers deals with self-preserving behaviour in the period of a global problem — COVID-19 pandemic. Positive self-preserving behaviour determines the level of health of an individual and, consequently, of a society. In the period of the pandemic we have witnessed an increased interest toward self-preserving behaviour. Apart from observing private hygiene or hygiene norms and social distancing, there were no other protective mechanisms during the process of the research, and vaccination has not yet begun. As a result of the urgency of the issue, the staff s of Institute Demography and Sociology Ilia State University under the guidance of professor A. Sulaberidze have conducted a sociological research in October 2020, “Awareness of the corona virus pandemic’s impact on the social-economic situation of Georgian population and self-preservative behaviour”, in four regions of Georgia. Th e regions were selected based on the level of the coronavirus’s proliferation. Respondents were selected using the method of random sampling. We interviewed 500 respondents with the help of pre-composed questionnaires. Th e following research is one of the attempts in Georgia to study self-preserving behaviour under the circumstances of the pandemic and it shows us to what extent the population’s self-pre-serving behaviour is directed toward defense against the coronavirus. One of the main functions of a state is to prevent the spread of diseases and protect its population from harmful infl uence of environmental factors. In this regard, the state has implemented signifi cant measures; however, they are not suffi cient as the joint eff orts of the state and each citizen determine the robustness of a country’s population as well as the scope of a pandemic’s proliferation. Our goal is to evaluate the eff orts of the citizens, as for our objectives, we aim to ascertain the factors which seem auspicious and adverse for the mentioned eff orts. Th e analysis of the research’s results outlined important diff erences between genders with regard to evaluating one’s own health and selfpreserving behaviour. Th e researchers had also shown that men value their health more highly and take care of it less. Th is tendency is immutable even when self-preserving behaviour signifi cantly determines not only the possibility of one’s own infection, but also of those surrounding us. Women respondents are more prone to observe every recommendation of epidemiologists than men. Th e level of population’s awareness is high with respect to the symptoms of the infection as well as recommendations for self-protection and the existing infection situation in the country. Th e dissimilar levels of infection between various regions gave us varying indicators of awareness. Th e higher the infection rate, the higher the awareness rate. Th e respondents’ health condition signifi cantly determines the population’s attitude toward the coronavirus infection. Self-assessment of one’s health condition has an impact on the level of fear caused by the pandemic. Th e respondents with chronic ailments are more liable to express fear than those who evaluate their health highly. Th e perception of the risks associated with the coronavirus infection is diff erent in terms of sexes. Compared to men, women, on average, perceive the coronavirus threat and its subsequent problems more emotionally and give a lower assessment to their health condition. Th e population’s fear of the pandemic is exacerbated by the fact that this viral infection has not been adequately studied yet and we are not aware of its future repercussions or complications. Therefore, those respondents who are fully healthy also express justifi able apprehension. Th ere emerged a proportionate connection between the level of following the epidemiologists’ re co mmendations and perception of the threat of the COVID infection. The more seriously people perceive the mentioned threat, the more eager they are to fulfi ll the epidemiologists’ recommendations.

The growth of conflicts in a changing world makes conflict resolution competence an important component of entrepreneurial competencies. Higher education should empower students to effectively prevent and resolve conflicts. The problem of assessing the educational process in the field of conflict resolution training and the result of this training is discussed in this article. The authors cite the results of an empirical study, the purpose of which was to determine the needs of students of the State University (Chelyabinsk, Russia) with regards to conflict management preparation. The survey relied on an analysis of the self-assessment of students´ own skills and commitment to the principles of tolerance, an assessment of the educational process, and the need to increase their own conflict management competence. 152 students of the State University took part in the survey, of which 63 were male and 89 female. The Likert scale was used. The results of the study showed that students assess the level of their own conflict resolution competence as high, as do they the educational process at the university. The limitations of the study are discussed at the end of the article.

In a world of nation states, citizenship, or full membership of the social and political community, has a three-fold relationship to the supply and demand of public welfare. First, in the liberal tradition that society exists to serve its members, citizenship offers moral justification for the state's concern for individual citizens (Harris, 1987; Jordan, 1989). Second, since citizenship confers a form of equality of status on members of the community (Marshall, 1963), it must be assumed that the state university applies to these members whatever distributive standards it adopts (Macedo, 1990). Finally, and as a consequence of the other two relationships, citizenship is one of the primary bases for claims on the economic resources of the state (King & Waldron, 1988; Barry, 1990, p. 4).

“The Process of Reform during the Era of Perestroika and the Social Consciousness of Russian Society, from ‘Letters to the Authority’ Materials,” by Anna Dmitrievna Popova (Ryazan State University named for S. A. Yesenin): This article analyzes the transformation of Soviet public consciousness during the era of perestroika (restructuring). The authors examined letters which were sent by Soviet citizens to then President of the Russian Soviet Republic and future Russian Federation President Boris N. Yeltsin. In these letters, citizens stated their opinions about the transformation of the Soviet political and economic system during this period. The authors’ analysis of these letters reveals that the mentality of the Soviet populace was strongly influenced by its assessment of perestroika. In this public consciousness, citizens placed a large emphasis on the traditional Soviet values of equality, justice, and labor, which defined public opinions about the transformation of Soviet society during perestroika. Soviet citizens demanded that the state deal with the problem of wide-ranging privileges afforded to officials of the Communist Party, while citizens negatively estimated the freedoms in spiritual life accorded to them by the state.

AbstractThis paper investigates how students at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), one of the first Brazilian universities to adopt race-based quotas for admissions, interpret racial categories used as eligibility criteria. Considering the perspectives of students is important to understand the workings of affirmative action policies because UERJ's quotas require applicants to classify themselves. Students' interpretations of those categories often diverge from the interpretations intended by people who shaped the policy. Students' perspectives are formed by everyday experiences with categorisation and by their self-assessment as legitimate beneficiaries of quotas. In contrast, the policies were designed according to a new racial project, where black consciousness-raising and statistics played an important role.

This article is devoted to the study of the results of the sociological state of the domestic justice system. The relevance of the study is due to a number of fundamental factors. First, justice is an integral and integral part of the ontological basis of any civilized society. It is called upon to serve society as clamps and ensure its internal stability by reducing the level of antagonism and fair resolution of conflicts. Secondly, justice as the key value of society works on protecting its ideals and the idealization of society itself, serves as a motive for self-criticism and a mechanism for self-improvement. Thirdly, according to the level of independence and independence of the justice system in the modern world, it is estimated the development of society and its institutions, the culture of its goals and the values professed. By virtue of the noted fundamental factors, the Laboratory of Political and Legal Research of Lomonosov Moscow State University was developed, and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research supported a scientific and sociological project to obtain objective and reliable information about the state of the domestic justice system. At the same time, a new feature of the project was the proposal to explore the topic “from the inside”, in contrast to other projects, to generalize and analyze the opinions of the main subjects of justice on the level of their own independence and independence as the center and structure-forming elements of the system. Thus, the fundamental scientific task of research is in the knowledge of the “internal” laws of the functioning of the domestic justice system and the mechanisms for its adoption by the main representatives of law enforcement decisions in Russian realities. In this regard, for the first time, an attempt was made to conduct a focused and full-fledged study of the state of independence of law enforcers through clarification of their internal well-being and attitude to power, public opinion, the media, their own leadership and professional environment. Taking into account the task, specialists initially developed a set of indicators for measuring the state of independence of investigators, prosecutors and judges, as well as criteria for assessing the level of pressure on them and interference with their procedural activities. Then, a large-scale sociological survey of officials at various levels, directly carrying out the law-applying functions in the system of judicial authorities of the Russian Federation - judges, prosecutors and investigators. According to the results of the analysis and formulated findings of the survey. As part of the survey, more than 800 law enforcement officers of the Russian Federation were interviewed: judges, prosecutors and investigators from different regions of the country. The author has formulated conclusions on the results of the study.
