It has been investigated the influence of heat treatment with the following temperins on the integral photoluminescence spectra and on the individual bands of this spectra. It has been showed the correlation between the changes of intensity of photoluminescence individual bands and real structure of crystal, controlled with the help of EPR method. The basic changes of photoluminescence and structural properties have threshold nature. They begin to show up at temperature of annealing T > 650o С. The maximum intensity of integral photoluminescence spectrum was observed in the region of phase transition crystal structure of zinc sulphide.

We report the synthesis of room temperature (RT) stabilized γ–Bi2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) at the expense of metallic Bi NPs through annealing in an ambient atmosphere. RT stability of the metastable γ–Bi2O3 NPs is confirmed using synchrotron radiation powder X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. γ–Bi2O3 NPs exhibited a strong red-band emission peaking at ~701 nm, covering 81% integrated intensity of photoluminescence spectra. Our findings suggest that the RT stabilization and enhanced red-band emission of γ‒Bi2O3 is mediated by excess oxygen ion vacancies generated at the octahedral O(2) sites during the annealing process.

BACKGROUNDPseudomonas aeruginosa is a frequent cause of infection in patients with bronchiectasis. Differentiation between non-infected patients and those with different degrees of P aeruginosainfection could influence the management and prognosis of these patients. The diagnostic usefulness of serum IgG antibodies againstP aeruginosa outer membrane proteins was determined in patients with bronchiectasis without cystic fibrosis.METHODSFifty six patients were classified according to sputum culture into three groups: group A (n=18) with no P aeruginosain any sample; group B (n=18) with P aeruginosa alternating with other microorganisms; and group C (n=20) with P aeruginosa in all sputum samples. Each patient had at least three sputum cultures in the 6 months prior to serum collection. Detection of antibodies was performed by Western blot and their presence against 20 protein bands (10–121 kd) was assessed.RESULTSAntibodies to more than four bands in total or to five individual bands (36, 26, 22, 20 or 18 kd) differentiated group B from group A, while antibodies to a total of more than eight bands or to 10 individual bands (104, 69, 63, 56, 50, 44, 30, 25, 22, 13 kd) differentiated group C from group B. When discordant results between the total number of bands and the frequency of P aeruginosa isolation were obtained, the follow up of patients suggested that the former, in most cases, predicted chronic P aeruginosacolonisation.CONCLUSIONIn patients with bronchiectasis the degree of P aeruginosa infection can be determined by the number and type of outer membrane protein bands indicating which serum antibodies are present.

By using the numerical discretization method within the effective-mass approximation, we have theoretically investigated the exciton-related Raman scattering, interband absorption and photoluminescence in colloidal CdSe/CdS core/shell quantum dots ensemble. The interband optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra have been revealed for CdSe/CdS quantum dots, taking into account the size dispersion of the ensemble. Numerical calculation of the differential cross section has been presented for the exciton-related Stokes–Raman scattering in CdSe/CdS quantum dots ensemble with different mean sizes.

Zn2SiO4:Eu3+, Dy3+ phosphors have been prepared through the sol-gel process. X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric and ddifferential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), FT-IR spectra and photoluminescence spectra were used to characterize the resulting phosphors. The results of XRD indicated that the phosphors crystallized completely at 1000oC. In Zn2SiO4:Eu3+,Dy3+ phosphors, the Eu3+ and Dy3+ show their characteristic red(613nm, 5D0-7F2), blue (481nm, 4F9/2–6H15/2) and yellow (577nm, 4F9/2–6H13/2) emissions.
