The medium voltage DC (MVDC) type system can connect multiple terminals to a common MVDC bus, so it is possible to connect several renewable DC power sources to the common MVDC bus, but a DC circuit breaker is needed to isolate short circuit accidents that may occur in the MVDC bus. For this purpose, the concept of a hybrid DC circuit breaker that takes advantage of a low conduction loss contact type switch and an arcless-breaking semiconductor switch has been proposed. During break the hybrid switch, a dedicated current commutation device is required to temporarily bypass the load current flowing through the main switch into a semiconductor switch branch. Existing current commutation methods include a proactive method and a reverse current injection method by a LC (Inductor-capacitor) resonant circuit. This paper proposes a power circuit of a new MVDC hybrid circuit breaker using a low withstanding voltage capacitor branch for commutation and a sequence controller according to it, and verifies its operation through an experiment.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is a safe modality of cardiorespiratory support for lung transplantation, with a reduction in coagulopathy and transfusion requirement when compared with cardiopulmonary bypass. In some scenarios, in lung transplantation, there are advantages to the use of cardiopulmonary bypass, which allows cardiac decompression, filtering of embolic air, easy addition and removal of volume, and a means to immediately reintroduce lost blood into circulation. We describe a novel circuit which allows safe and easy switch between modalities without prolonged interruption of flow. This circuit offers a safety net during surgery to minimise the risks influencing the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

In this paper, a new approach for constructing integer domain chaotic systems (IDCS) is proposed, and its chaotic behavior is mathematically proven according to Devaney's definition of chaos. Furthermore, an analog-digital hybrid circuit is also developed for realizing the designed basic IDCS. In the IDCS circuit design, chaos generation strategy is realized through a sample-hold circuit and a decoder circuit so as to convert the uniform noise signal into a random sequence, which plays a key role in circuit implementation. The experimental observations further validate the proposed systematic methodology for the first time.
