With this issue of PIR, we begin year 5 of the Pediatrics Review and Education Program (PREP). Topics for special educational attention this year include endocrinology, metabolic disease, nutrition, genitourinary system disease, fluid and electrolyte metabolism, and gastrointestinal disease. There are 31 educational objectives relating to these topic areas. In addition, there are 163 educational objectives related to Recent Advances. Approximately 20% of these represent objectives that are repeats from one of the previous four years of the PREP cycle. Review articles in this year's PIR will address largely the topic areas, although when a Recent Advance objective seems particularly appropriate or timely for a review article, we will include these.

This review of the Literacy and Education Bklletin1 of the 1961 Census is fourth in the series of review articles published in this journal2. The Bulletin under review forms a part of the interim report on the characteristics of the population of Pakistan. It gives information on the number of illiterate and literate persons by age and sex for rural and urban areas on division and district basis; illiterate and literate.population in selected cities and towns; and the educational levels attained by the literate population by age and sex for divisions and districts. Relevant statistical notes and statements precede the tables in the Bulletin. The objective of this review is to describe the meaningfulness and significance of literacy statistics. To this end, a distinction is made between formal and functional levels of literacy. Comparisons of the 1951 and 1961 census figures are undertaken to indicate the progress of literacy and education during the past decade with reference to the effect of intercensal rate of population growth on such progress. Certain questions regarding the reliability of data are raised, which emphasize the need for caution in the interpretation of literacy statistics.

The main objective of this review article is to discuss the therapeutic uses of Rudra Parpati and to discuss the different pharmacological properties and therapeutic uses of isolated constituent drugs of Rudra Parpati. The authentic subject material has been reviewed from Ayurveda and modern medical literature. Different research and review articles were searched in different journals. The subject material has also been searched on the internet. This review is mainly focused on different aspects of herbo mineral Ayurvedic formulation Rudra Parpati. Parpati rasayana is one among Chaturvidha Rasayana Kalpa which is very effective and can be prepared with less effort. In Ayurveda Rudra Parpati is mentioned in the management of Kasa/cough. Though it is popular as only Parpati used in Kharapaka form & having an indication other than Grahani but still an unexplored treasure with unique therapeutic utility. Hence an attempt has been made to address the therapeutic uses of Rudra Parpati and the probable mode of action of its constituent drugs. Keywords: Rudraparpati, Vataja Kasa.

During 1995, many pediatricians will participate for the first time in the Pediatric Renewal of Certification Program (PRCP). Since Pediatrics in Review (PIR) and the Pediatrics Review and Education Program (PREP) began in 1979, their material has been integrated with the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) renewal of certification program. The ABP sets the educational objectives (now called content specifications) and develops the examinations. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) develops PREP education materials, PIR, and the Self-Assessment Exercise based on these. Each year PIR covers about 1000 of the more than 4000 content specifications, including at least half of the 900 selected as the basis each year for the cognitive examination.

A review that summarizes the most recent technological developments in the field of ultrafast structural dynamics with focus on the use of ultrashort X-ray and electron pulses follows. Atomistic views of chemical processes and phase transformations have long been the exclusive domain of computer simulators. The advent of femtosecond (fs) hard X-ray and fs-electron diffraction techniques made it possible to bring such a level of scrutiny to the experimental area. The following review article provides a summary of the main ultrafast techniques that enabled the generation of atomically resolved movies utilizing ultrashort X-ray and electron pulses. Recent advances are discussed with emphasis on synchrotron-based methods, tabletop fs-X-ray plasma sources, ultrabright fs-electron diffractometers, and timing techniques developed to further improve the temporal resolution and fully exploit the use of intense and ultrashort X-ray free electron laser (XFEL) pulses.

Nowadays the spatial econometrics is became widely used in transportation sciences. In order to know which method can be used or how they should be used, the review articles give answers. In this recent paper the goal is to collect all of the methods in one article which can be used in further researches. The improvement in this article is that beside the spatial econometric methods, other necessary techniques are also introduced. With this fact a whole analysis can be applied.
