This review of the Literacy and Education Bklletin1 of the 1961 Census is fourth in the series of review articles published in this journal2. The Bulletin under review forms a part of the interim report on the characteristics of the population of Pakistan. It gives information on the number of illiterate and literate persons by age and sex for rural and urban areas on division and district basis; illiterate and literate.population in selected cities and towns; and the educational levels attained by the literate population by age and sex for divisions and districts. Relevant statistical notes and statements precede the tables in the Bulletin. The objective of this review is to describe the meaningfulness and significance of literacy statistics. To this end, a distinction is made between formal and functional levels of literacy. Comparisons of the 1951 and 1961 census figures are undertaken to indicate the progress of literacy and education during the past decade with reference to the effect of intercensal rate of population growth on such progress. Certain questions regarding the reliability of data are raised, which emphasize the need for caution in the interpretation of literacy statistics.

The main objective of this review article is to discuss the therapeutic uses of Rudra Parpati and to discuss the different pharmacological properties and therapeutic uses of isolated constituent drugs of Rudra Parpati. The authentic subject material has been reviewed from Ayurveda and modern medical literature. Different research and review articles were searched in different journals. The subject material has also been searched on the internet. This review is mainly focused on different aspects of herbo mineral Ayurvedic formulation Rudra Parpati. Parpati rasayana is one among Chaturvidha Rasayana Kalpa which is very effective and can be prepared with less effort. In Ayurveda Rudra Parpati is mentioned in the management of Kasa/cough. Though it is popular as only Parpati used in Kharapaka form & having an indication other than Grahani but still an unexplored treasure with unique therapeutic utility. Hence an attempt has been made to address the therapeutic uses of Rudra Parpati and the probable mode of action of its constituent drugs. Keywords: Rudraparpati, Vataja Kasa.

Nowadays the spatial econometrics is became widely used in transportation sciences. In order to know which method can be used or how they should be used, the review articles give answers. In this recent paper the goal is to collect all of the methods in one article which can be used in further researches. The improvement in this article is that beside the spatial econometric methods, other necessary techniques are also introduced. With this fact a whole analysis can be applied.

AbstractThe analysis of scientific communities and collectives are central to STS and sociological studies of science. However, the current emergence of techno-scientific communities, such as synthetic biology, raises the question as to whether novel identities, but also novel ways of community building have developed. In this respect, the emergence of a new publication regime, the ubiquity of citations as a means of governing attention and visibility, and the establishment of multidisciplinary audiences might have changed the ways of scholarly field formation. In this article I propose that formats of scholarly writing have acquired new functions in this process, changing modes of presenting and legitimating novel scientific communities. Hence, I put forward the idea that the evolution of a specific publication format which I term here as `techno-scientific review article’ and the ways of narrating communities are closely intertwined. To elaborate my argument, I draw on linguistic genre analysis of science. I found that review papers in synthetic biology are important for the field: Equipped with specific textual qualities they become central sites for articulating past and the futures of the field.

Intermittently, Singapore suffers from severe air pollution in periods of intense forest and peatland fires on neighboring South-Asian islands. A recent American Economic Review article modeled the causal relationships between fire intensity in Indonesia and air pollution (PSI) in Singapore, and between PSI and health clinic visits in Singapore. We find serious flaws in the quantitative assessment of these relationships. Attempts are made to repair these using the same classic methodology and data, but also by alternative methods requiring less speculative assumptions. Although actually more detailed data are required, there are some results produced which seem more credible.

This review article provides an overview of important, recent approaches to conceptual history from scholarship on South Asia. While conceptual history is not a consolidated field in South Asia, the colonial encounter has greatly stimulated interest in conceptual inquiries. Recent scholarship questions the uniformity even of well-researched concepts such as liberalism. It is methodologically innovative in thinking about the influence of economic structures for the development of concepts. Rethinking religious and secular languages, scholars have furthermore stressed the importance of smaller communicative units such as genre or hermeneutical practices to shape ideas e.g. of the political. As part of global and imperial formations, scholars are well aware of the link between power and colonial temporalities. Lastly, they have suggested new sources for conceptual history, such as literature, film, and sound.

With this issue of PIR, we begin year 5 of the Pediatrics Review and Education Program (PREP). Topics for special educational attention this year include endocrinology, metabolic disease, nutrition, genitourinary system disease, fluid and electrolyte metabolism, and gastrointestinal disease. There are 31 educational objectives relating to these topic areas. In addition, there are 163 educational objectives related to Recent Advances. Approximately 20% of these represent objectives that are repeats from one of the previous four years of the PREP cycle. Review articles in this year's PIR will address largely the topic areas, although when a Recent Advance objective seems particularly appropriate or timely for a review article, we will include these.

The aim of this research is (1) to analyse the macro-organisational structure and (2) to investigate and describe the analytical sections of the data. The data, drawn from a randomly selected corpus of 32 review articles, was analysed following Swales’ (1990) genre analysis to describe and investigate the schematic structure of the review article genre. The findings revealed that the CARS model was often observed in this genre. Moreover, although both review articles and research articles have been considered sub-genres of the research genre, there is a significant variation among them in terms of the schematic structure, rhetorical strategies, and functions. The schematic structure and functions of the review article genre were further investigated by consulting the specialist informants. The macroorganisational structure of this genre proposed hence provide the instructive guidance for EFL graduates and junior researchers how to review the developments critically during their research writing. Keywords: academic review genres, review article genre, macro-organisational structure, analytical sections of review article genre

Serous fluids are excessive accumulation of fluids in a serous cavity as effusion. However, traditionally this area also covers cytopathologic evaluation of washings of these cavities including pelvic/peritoneal washing. This is the introductory review article in series on this topic with the application of simplified algorithmic approaches. The series would be compiled finally as a book after minor modifications of individual review articles to accommodate the book layout on the topic as second edition of ‘Diagnostic Cytopathology of Serous Fluids’ book. The approach is primarily directed towards detection of neoplastic cells based on morphology alone or with the help of various ancillary tests, including commonly applied immunocytochemistry to be interpreted as second foreign population with application of SCIP (subtractive coordinate immunoreactivity pattern) approach in effusion fluid tapings. As the role of molecular pathology tests is increasing, this component as ancillary testing will also be covered as applicable. Because a picture and sketches are worth a thousand words, illustrations and figures are included generously even at the risk of moderate repetition. The clinically important serous cavities include peritoneal cavity, pericardial cavity, and two pleural cavities. The primary topic of this series is specimens from these cavities as effusion fluids and washings including cytopathologic evaluation of peritoneal/pelvic washing. It is expected that some readers may not read the entire series or the final book from beginning to end, but refer to the individual review articles and chapters sporadically during their clinical practice. Considering this practical limitation, some brief repetition may be observed throughout the book. Some of the important themes will be highlighted as italicized and bolded text for quick reference. Dedicated articles/chapters are assigned for technical and other reference material as appendices. Tables, algorithms, sketches, and combination of pictures are included generously for quick reference. Most of the illustrations are attempted to be labeled appropriately with arrows and other indicators to avoid equivocation, especially for beginners in the field. This introductory review article describes general details under the following three broad headings: Histology and general cytology of serous cavity lining Effusion (general considerations) Ancillary techniques in brief.
