Fifteen hybrid-mutant lines and two direct mutant lines were studied in terms to their technological quality in 2000 and 2001 vegetation years. The hybrid-mutant lines were produced using chemical mutagen sodium azide at a concentration of 1mM on F<sub>2</sub> seeds. For parent cultivars, promising and well adapted Bulgarian and foreign common winter wheat cultivars were used. The direct mutant lines were obtained by gamma-irradiation and sodium azide treatment of dry seed from cultivars. The differences of the following three characteristics: quality index, softening of dough and energy for dough deformation (W) of MX 77/14 compared to the total mean value are positive and statistically significant. Crude protein, softening of dough, and energy for dough deformation (W) of MX 84/37 are also significantly different in relation to the total mean value. Both wheat lines refer to the group of common winter wheat with very good technological quality. This fact was confirmed of higher values of energy for dough deformation (W), than strong wheat cultivar Pobeda.

It is well established that nitrous oxide (N2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from agricultural land are influenced by the type of crop grown, the form and amount of nitrogen (N) applied, and the soil and climatic conditions under which the crop is grown. Crop rotation adds another dimension that is often overlooked, however, as the crop residue being decomposed and supplying soluble carbon to soil biota is usually from a different crop than the crop that is currently growing. Hence, the objective of this study was to compare the influence of both the crop grown and the residues from the preceding crop on N2O and CO2 emissions from soil. In particular, N2O and CO2 emissions from monoculture cropping of corn, soybean and winter wheat were compared with 2 -yr and 3-yr crop rotations (corn-soybean or corn-soybean-winter wheat). Each phase of the rotation was measured each year. Averaged over three growing seasons (from April to October), annual N2O emissions were about 3.1 to 5.1 times greater in monoculture corn (2.62 kg N ha-1) compared with either monoculture soybean (0.84 kg N ha-1) or monoculture winter wheat (0.51 kg N ha-1). This was due in part to the higher inorganic N levels in the soil resulting from the higher N application rate with corn (170 kg N ha-1) than winter wheat (83 kg N ha-1) or soybean (no N applied). Further, the previous crop also influenced the extent of N2O emissions in the current crop year. When corn followed corn, the average N2O emissions (2.62 kg N ha-1) were about twice as high as when corn followed soybean (1.34 kg N ha-1) and about 60% greater than when corn followed winter wheat (1.64 kg N ha-1). Monoculture winter wheat had about 45% greater CO2 emissions than monoculture corn or 51% greater emissions than monoculture soybean. In the corn phase, CO2 emissions were greater when the previous crop was winter wheat (5.03 t C ha-1) than when it was soybean (4.20 t C ha-1) or corn (3.91 t C ha-1). Hence, N2O and CO2 emissions from agricultural fields are influenced by both the current crop and the previous crop, and this should be accounted for in both estimates and forecasts of the emissions of these important greenhouse gases. Ten winter wheat cultivars created in Small Grains Research Centre of Kragujevac (KG-56, Srbijanka, Studenica, Takovcanka, KG-56S, KG?100, Toplica, Levcanka, Gruza, and Tara) were grown at experimental field during four years. Variability of bread-making quality properties (sedimentation value, gluten content and quality, and rheological flour and dough properties) was investigated. The sedimentation value was determined by Zeleny method, gluten content by standard method, and rheological flour and dough properties by Farinograph. Quality components depended significantly of genotype and environment factors. Obtained results have shown that the highest value of sedimentation in average was at KG-56S cultivar (61.8ml). Sedimentation in all investigated cultivars was at the level of the first quality class. Wet gluten are characterized by good physical properties, and on average ranged from 25.6% (KG-100) to 36.3% (Gruza). Wheat technological quality depended predominantly of genetic potential of cultivar, and it was on the level of A2-B2 quality group. The highest impact of phenotypic variance belonged to genotype for sedimentation value, wet gluten content and rheological flour and dough properties, while for water absorption belonged to genotype-year interaction.

Tillage technologies that promote resource conservation and increase crop yields, especially in conditions of dry climate, are increasingly being introduced into the Russian agriculture. However, taking into account a diversity of soil and climatic conditions in Russia, it is necessary to study the agro-ecological state of agro landscapes. In Russia, in recent years, an increase in the yield of winter wheat and sunflower has been observed. From 2014 to 2018 in production conditions in the Rostov Region, the effect of direct sowing technology (No-Till) on the yield of winter wheat and sunflower was studied. The yield of sunflower and winter wheat largely depended on the amount of precipitation during the critical growing season of each agricultural crop. In 2014-2017 the yield of winter wheat in agrocenoses using direct sowing technology increased by 26-114%, sunflower by 27-92% compared with the traditional technology. The authors show that direct seeding compared to traditional technology of dump plowing (traditional tillage) contributes to saving motor fuel, increasing crop yields and lowering the cost of the main crops of the Rostov Region: winter wheat and sunflower.

Highly yielding, early maturing, excellent technological quality, resistent to lodging, optimal seed size, good resistance to plant diseases. New variety of winter wheat under the name Nova Bosanka was created by crossing the genetically divergent parents. According to overall three-year average, the variety Nova Bosanka achieved an average yield of 6.918 kg ha-1 which is 479,3 kg or 7,45% more than the values of standard variety Tina. Three-year average of protein content was 12,8%, water apsorption 59%, energy of dough 100 cm2, belongs to B1 - quality group. By the trait of resistance to lodging variety is at the level of standard.

The results of three-year trials (1999 to 2001) conducted with six winter wheat varieties in which was studied the grain yield and parameters of technological quality. Varieties of wheat come from four different localities of the Czech Republic. The most favourable weather conditions, a lot of precipitation and high temperature in the course of ripening from three years were proved in the year 2000. The best grain yield were in 2001 (average of sites 8.84 t/ha) and variety Semper, worst quality, had the highest grain yield of 9.17 t/ha, the least grain yield had Sulamit, best quality (7.94 t/ha). The laboratory analysis revealed negative correlation between grain yield and baking quality. The number of statistically highly significant correlations among bread-making quality parameters too.The negative correlation was of grain yield and grain volume mass (P < 0.05), Zeleny test and protein content taken as a whole for three years (P < 0.01). The correlation of loaf volume, which is the traits of baking quality and Zeleny test (r = 0.6016**), protein content (r = 0.5932**), dough stability (r = 0.2898**) and flour water absorption (r = 0.3632**) was positive (P < 0.01).

In long-term stationary experiments under different soil-climatic conditions, an influence of mineral and organic fertilization on yield of winter wheat, spring barley and potato tubers was evaluated. Statistically significantly lowest grain yields of winter wheat (4.00 t/ha) and spring barley (2.81 t/ha) were obtained in non-fertilized plots at all experimental sites. In the case of potatoes, the lowest yield of dry matter (5.71 t/ha) was recorded in the control plot, but the result was not statistically significant. The manure-fertilized plot gave the average yield of wheat higher by 30%, of barley by 22%. Application of sewage sludge resulted in wheat yield higher by 41% and barley yield higher by 26% over control. On average, application of sewage sludge and manure increased the yield of potatoes by 30% over control. The highest yield was obtained after application of mineral fertilizers; average yield increased by 59, 50 and 36% in winter wheat, spring barley and potatoes, respectively. No statistically significant differences among the plots with mineral fertilizers were observed. At different sites, the yield of studied crops varied; however, the effect of fertilization on yield increments was similar at all experimental sites except for Lukavec. It is the site with the lowest natural soil fertility, and it showed the highest effect of the applied fertilizers.
