ABSTRACTBy using conventional solution casting method, a flexible ceramic [CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO)]-Polymer [P(VDF-TrFE)] composite has been fabricated. The CCTO ceramic powders with a relative uniform size were prepared by traditional powder processing method. The dielectric properties of these films with different CCTO fractions were determined. The process was optimized to achieve high dielectric constant. A dielectric constant about 510 at room temperature and 1240 at 95 °C at 1 kHz for 6 layer hot compression was obtained.

AbstractBased on solution casting method, a ceramic [CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO)]-Polymer [P(VDF-TrFE)] composite with flexibility has been synthesized and its dielectric response has been studied. The CCTO ceramic powders were prepared by traditional sintering method and were milled with a relative uniform size. The dielectric properties of these films with micro-size and nano-size CCTO particle, as well as different polymer matrixes were determined. The process was optimized by hot pressing and surface modification to achieve high dielectric constant. A dielectric constant about 175 for one layer composite with high flexibility using silane coupling agent was obtained at 1 kHz at room temperature.

In this work, poly(1-butene) (PB-1) composite films with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were prepared by a solution casting method. The relationship between the dielectric properties and the crystal transformation process of the films was investigated. It was indicated that there were two crystal forms of I and II of PB-1 during the solution crystallization process. With the prolongation of the phase transition time, form II was converted into form I. The addition of the conductive filler (MWCNT) accelerated the rate of phase transformation and changed the nucleation mode of PB-1. The presence of crystal form I in the system increased the breakdown strength and the dielectric constant of the films and reduced the dielectric loss, with better stability. In addition, the dielectric constant and the dielectric loss of the MWCNT/PB-1 composite films increased with the addition of MWCNT, due to the interfacial polarization between MWCNT and PB-1 matrix. When the mass fraction of the MWCNT was 1.0%, the composite film had a dielectric constant of 43.9 at 25 °C and 103 Hz, which was 20 times that of the original film.

To meet the requirement of microelectronic industry, ceramic/polymer composite films made of CaCu3Ti4O12(CCTO) powder as filler and PVDF copolymer as matrix were prepared by solution casting method. The dielectric properties (DP) and morphology of the films were studied by impedance analyzer and scanning electron microscope (SEM) respectively. The dielectric constant could reach 23.96 and loss 0.1082 when mass fraction of CCTO is 50% at 100 Hz. SEM results show that CCTO particles dispersed well in the PVDF matrix. At last, three composite models were used to predict the dielectric constant of the composite films and it is proved that Yamada model fits the experimental data well.

The CaCu3Ti4O12(CCTO) has the advantage for the various applications especially for capacitive elements in microelectronic devices over the ferroelectric materials including BaTiO3. CCTO is a ceramic compound with a high dielectric constant but it has a high loss tangent at room temperature. In this work, the Influences of PtO2doping on the dielectric properties of CaCu3Ti4O12(CCTO) ceramics were investigate. The ceramics CCTO and PtO2doping CCTO were studied by X- ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy. The dielectric properties have been measured as a function of temperature and frequency range 0.1 - 500 kHz. The XRD shows the CCTO structure does not changes after doping with platinum. The results show that PtO2doped can reduce the mean grain sizes of CCTO, but the dielectric constant still remained a height. The samples of 2.0 mol% Pt-doped have exhibited high dielectric constant of about 22,000 and the loss tangent about 0.7 at room temperature and frequency at 10 kHz. The reduced of the loss tangent could be interpreted with the internal barrier layer capacitor model (IBLC)

AbstractA high dielectric constant was observed in 0-3 composites using P(VDF-TrFE) copolymer as matrix and CaCu3TiO4 (CCTO) ceramic powders as fillers with a composition of 50 vol% CCTO. CCTO-P(VDF-TrFE) 0-3 composites with a CCTO content from 0 to 50 vol% were prepared and their dielectric properties, including frequency dependence and temperature dependence of the dielectric constant and loss, were characterized. It was experimentally observed that the hot-press process, inlcuding the configuration and hot-press time, has a strong influence on the dielectric properties of the composites. Additionally, the influence of the CCTO partice size on the dielectric properties of the composites was studied.

Current research efforts toward achieving ceramic/polymer composites which fulfill the balance between sufficiently high dielectric constant (ε) and low dielectric loss (tanδ) are presented. In this paper, ceramic/polymer composite films made of CaCu3Ti4O12(CCTO) powder as filler, which is modified by silane coupling agent vinyltrimethoxysilane (A-171), and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) copolymer as matrix were prepared by solution casting method. The morphology and dielectric properties (DP) were studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and impedance analyzer. The effect of pH and ethanol concentration on the dielectric properties of A-171@CCTO/PVDF were studied. The results show that constant could reach 54.17 and loss 0.05 when mass fraction of A-171 is 0.4% at 1 kHz. pH=4 and using anhydrous ethanol are the optimal conditions.

Lauroyl-chitosan/poly(methylmethacrylate)-lithium trifluorosulfonate (LiCF3SO3) polymer electrolytes has been prepared by the solution casting method. Ionic conductivity analysis was conducted over a wide range of frequency between 50 Hz-1 MHz using impedance spectroscopy to evaluate the dielectric properties and conductivity of the sample. Sample with 30 wt% of LiCF3SO3 showed the highest conductivity of 7.59 ± 3.64 x 10-4 Scm-1 at room temperature. Complex permittivity for real (εr), imaginary (εi) and electrical modulus for real (Mr) and imaginary (Mi) part was determined and plotted. The relaxation time, τ for these samples was determined and the plot shows that τ decreases with conductivity of the complexes.

Abstract This project work reports synthesis, structural and dielectric nature of composite of the type (95%) La2CoMnO6+ (5%) Ba0.5Na0.5TiO3. The composite was characterized at room temperature for structural and dielectric properties. The structural characterization X-ray diffraction was carried for structural confirmation. The XRD data study convey the sample is dual phase in nature evident from the corresponding diffraction peaks. Monoclinic phase was acquired by La2CoMnO6 and the space groupof the phase is P 1 21/n whereas Ba0.5Na0.5TiO3 phase has acquired cubic structure with space group Pm-3m. The frequency dependent dielectric constant examined reveals high dielectric constant which decreases with increase in applied ac field values. Dielectric loss calculated shows the behaviour like dielectric constant which initially decreases abruptly with applied field and later attains frequency independent values. However, the ac conductivity was observed higher in the as synthesized.

ABSTRACTHigh dielectric tunability, low dielectric loss tangent and appropriate level of dielectric constant are the basic requirements for applications as electrically tunable dielectric microwave devices. In our experiments, the SrTiO3 green compacts made of the powder mixtures with various particle sizes were infiltrated with a BaTiO3 precursor solution and sintered at different temperatures between 1280 and 1350 ºC for 2 hours and 1350 ºC for 6 hours. The sintering, microstructural and dielectric properties were investigated. Results showed that the relative density of SrTiO3 ceramics could reached 93% when sintered at 1280 ºC for 2 hours. When sintered for 6 hours at 1350 °C, the room temperature dielectric constant of SrTiO3 reaches 900 at a frequency of 1MHz. It has only weak temperature dependence between 100 and 500K. The reason of the low sintering temperature for the dense SrTiO3 ceramics and the effects of sintering scheme on the dielectric properties from 100 K to 500 K are discussed in this paper.
