Rafflesia zollingeriana Koord. was one of Rafflesia that distributed in Java. Although it has been stated as a different species, R. zollingeriana is sometimes still regarded as a synonym of R. patma. In addition, there are several contradictions in description of R. zollingeriana.  Therefore, further investigation is needed. This study attempts presents a full the description of the R. zollingeriana female flower. In this study, a full description of female flower of R. zollingeriana and pictures of important characters such as ramenta, annulus, perigone lobes, disc, processes, bractea are presented. This study is also compared the morphology of R. zollingeriana and R. patma, to confirm their differences in size, opening of diaphragm, blotches and warts pattern on perigone lobes and diaphragm, annulus, and ramenta.

A knowledge of the distribution of chemical elements in a specimen is often highly useful. In materials science specimens features such as grain boundaries and precipitates generally force a certain order on mental distribution, so that a single profile away from the boundary or precipitate gives a full description of all relevant data. No such simplicity can be assumed in life science specimens, where elements can occur various combinations and in different concentrations in tissue. In the latter case a two-dimensional elemental-distribution image is required to describe the material adequately. X-ray mapping provides such of the distribution of elements.The big disadvantage of x-ray mapping hitherto has been one requirement: the transmission electron microscope must have the scanning function. In cases where the STEM functionality – to record scanning images using a variety of STEM detectors – is not used, but only x-ray mapping is intended, a significant investment must still be made in the scanning system: electronics that drive the beam, detectors for generating the scanning images, and monitors for displaying and recording the images.

<p>Adsorption isotherms are an essential tool in chemical physics of surfaces. However, several approaches based on a different theoretical basis exist and for isotherms including capillary condensation existing approaches can fail. Here, a general isotherm equation is derived and applied to literature data both concerning type IV isotherms of argon and nitrogen in ordered mesoporous silica, and type II isotherms of disordered macroporous silica. The new isotherm covers the full range of partial pressure (10<sup>-6</sup> - 0.7). It relies firstly on the classical thermodynamics of cluster formation, secondly on a relationship defining the free energy during the increase of the cluster size. That equation replaces the Lennard-Jones potentials used in the classical density functional theory. The determination of surface areas is not possible by this isotherm because the cross-sectional area of a cluster is unknown. Based on the full description of type IV isotherms, most known isotherms are accessible by respective simplifications. </p>

Given a continuous Cournot map F(x,y)=(f2(y),f1(x)) defined from I2=[0,1]×[0,1] into itself, we give a full description of its ω-limit sets with non-empty interior. Additionally, we present some partial results for the empty interior case. The distribution of the ω-limits with non-empty interior gives information about the dynamics and the possible outputs of each firm in a Cournot model. We present some economic models to illustrate, with examples, the type of ω-limits that appear.

Abstract. In this study, a full description and comprehensive evaluation of a global-regional nested model, the Aerosol and Atmospheric Chemistry Model of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP-AACM), is presented for the first time. Not only the global budgets and distribution, but also a comparison of nested simulation over China against multi-datasets are investigated, benefiting from the access of air quality monitoring data in China since 2013 and the Model Inter-Comparison Study for Asia project. The model results and analysis can greatly help reduce uncertainties and understand model diversity in assessing global and regional aerosol effects, especially over East Asia and areas affected by East Asia. The 1-year simulation for 2014 shows that the IAP-AACM is within the range of other models, and well reproduces both spatial distribution and seasonal variation of trace gases and aerosols over major continents and oceans (mostly within the factor of two). The model nicely captures spatial variation for carbon monoxide except an underestimation over the ocean that also shown in other models, which suggests the need for more accurate emission rate of ocean source. For aerosols, the simulation of fine-mode particulate matter (PM2.5) matches observation well and it has a better simulating ability on primary aerosols than secondary aerosols. This calls for more investigation on aerosol chemistry. Furthermore, IAP-AACM shows the superiority of global model, compared with regional model, on performing regional transportation for the nested simulation over East Asia. For the city evaluation over China, the model reproduces variation of sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and PM2.5 accurately in most cities, with correlation coefficients above 0.5. Compared to the global simulation, the nested simulation exhibits an improved ability to capture the high temporal and spatial variability over China. In particular, the correlation coefficients for PM2.5, SO2 and NO2 are raised by ~ 0.25, ~ 0.15 and ~ 0.2 respectively in the nested grid. The summary provides constructive information for the application of chemical transport models. In future, we recommend the model's ability to capture high spatial variation of PM2.5 is yet to be improved.

The paper provides a full description and explanation of the probabilistic method for ship damage stability assessment from its conception to date with focus on the probability of survival (s-factor), explaining pertinent assumptions and limitations and describing its evolution for specific application to passenger ships, using contemporary numerical and experimental tools and data. It also provides comparisons in results between statistical and direct approaches and makes recommendations on how these can be reconciled with better understanding of the implicit assumptions in the approach for use in ship design and operation. Evolution over the latter years to support pertinent regulatory developments relating to flooding risk (safety level) assessment as well as research in this direction with a focus on passenger ships, have created a new focus that combines all flooding hazards (collision, bottom and side groundings) to assess potential loss of life as a means of guiding further research and developments on damage stability for this ship type. The paper concludes by providing recommendations on the way forward for ship damage stability and flooding risk assessment.

Abstract Background Upper arm liposuction mainly focuses on the posterolateral region, which may lead to a lack of harmony between the aspirated and unaspirated areas. In addition, the treatment effect of arm liposuction is often evaluated only by preoperative and postoperative photograph comparison and simple measurement; quantitative research on this topic is still lacking. Methods The multi-positional circumferential arm liposuction (MCAL) technique was proposed and applied to a total of 34 females in our hospital from 2017 to 2019. Three-dimensional data of 12 patients before the operation and after 2–3 months were collected and processed by 3D imaging, and the volume reduction rate was evaluated quantitatively. Results The MCAL method was successfully applied in the clinic, and its surgical effect was quantitatively studied. The mean follow-up time of 12 patients was (75.2 ±13.1) days, and the postoperative volume was significantly reduced. The postoperative volume of patients with type I, type II and type III decreased by (10.79 ±2.55)%, (17.25 ±3.02)% and (22.76 ±3.51)%, respectively. Conclusion Our new MCAL technique was successful, maximizing the esthetic results in upper limb contour refinements in the superficial fascial layer. The clinical efficacy of this proposed MCAL method was evaluated by CT and 3D digital technology, which provided further accuracy in demonstrating its effect on the shape of the arm. Historians have known the ‘Gododdin’ ever since Skene's edition and translation in the Four Ancient Books of Wales (1868)' and have realized the possibility that its claim to be the work of a sixth-century British poet may be in some form true. The text however was so obscure and in parts corrupt, and hence Skene's and other translations so plainly unreliable, that few have cared to deal boldly with it. Now comes Professor Williams' life-work, his edition of and introduction to the Book of Aneirin, in which he establishes as satisfactory a text as is ever likely to be made, and solves the great majority of the difficulties of interpretation. The importance of this book cannot be overestimated, and since the whole is written in Welsh a full description is necessary.

A taxonomic review of Rhaponticoides in Iran is based on morphological characters of the specimens from the authors’ expeditions and other herbarium collections. Rhaponticoides lachnopus, R. schmidii, R. sect. Iranicae and R. sect. Ruthenicae are proposed as new combinations. Full description for the genus Rhaponticoides and R. sect. Iranicae and R. sect. Ruthenicae are presented for the first time here. Three names, R. lachnopus, R. ruthenica and its synonym, are typified. A synopsis with recognized sections and species, relevant synonyms, type citations, lists of specimens examined and an identification key are provided for the genus Rhaponticoides in Iran. In addition, some notes about ecology and habitat of Rhaponticoides especially in Iran are given. Finally, the geographical distribution of all the 4 species recognized in Iran is presented and mapped.

A novel rain gauge based on acoustic self-calibration principle is proposed in the paper. Acoustic self-calibration principle can eliminate the uncertainty of the velocity of ultrasound and achieve accurate measurement of rainfall. The rain gauge not only overcomes the influence on the rainfall measurement under intensive rainfall conditions, but also improves the precision of rain gauge. Plenty of experiments have been done to validate the design. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results show the effectiveness of the rain gauge. A full description of the rain gauge and implementation are presented.

Thucydides' full description of the harbor at Pylos is part of his discussion of the Spartan strategy for the campaign (iv 8).. . . and the Lacedaimonians . . . expected the Attic fleet from Zacynthos to come to the rescue and intended, if they had not captured Pylos by that time, to block up the entrances to the harbor, so that the Athenians could not sail in and use it as an anchorage. (The island called Sphacteria extends alongside the harbor, and lies close to it: hence the anchorage is safe and the entrances narrow–the entrance by Pylos and the Athenian fortifications giving a passage for two ships through the channel, and the entrance by the mainland on the other side a passage for eight or nine . . . ) These entrances then, they intended to block up tightly with ships lying parallel to each other, prows to the enemy: and since they were frightened that the Athenians might use Sphacteria as a military base, they ferried hoplites across to it, and stationed others along the mainland. By this plan, they thought, the Athenians would find both the island to be enemy-occupied and the mainland, which gave them no chance of landing (for the coast of Pylos itself, outside the entrance and towards the open sea, is harborless, and would give them no base of operations to help their troops): and equally they themselves would probably be able to capture the place by siege, without a sea-battle or any unnecessary danger–there was no food in it, and it had not been properly prepared for a siege. This, then, was their agreed plan . . .Although one would think this a clear and detailed geographic description, historians have not yet found a location at Pylos for the harbor which satisfactorily matches it.
