The major aim of this paper is to emphasise the importance of implementing statistical tools in the field of linguistic research, as well as to acquaint the reader with the basic statistical methods that can be used while conducting linguistic studies. The article introduces the idea of five steps in data analysis that any researcher of applied linguistics can take in order to carry out relevant studies. The steps include choosing statistical programmes, eliciting data, selecting some visual methods and applying normality tests, as well as choosing applicable parametric or nonparametric tests, all of which requires appropriate planning, designing, analysing and interpreting data. The theoretical part is an interlude to the practical realisation of the above-mentioned five steps, which is based on the part of linguistic research conducted on the students of English Philology. The major purpose of it was to prove (or refute) that there is a positive correlation between participants’ level of musical intelligence and their L2 pronunciation skills. The practical use of statistical methods enables the readers to familiarise themselves with one of the patterns of statistical analysis in the field of applied linguistics.

Projects are very important to all organizations, as project managers view various issues in the organization from a higher perspective. The conclusions drawn from these projects determine the base on which various decisions affecting the organizations will be made. This paper introduces the statistical analysis tools used in various project environments to differentiate between the effective and ineffective tools of statistical analysis. Statistical analysis tools are useful in analyzing data collected for a study to be conducted on the same data. The literature review illustrates how statistical analysis tools have been effective and useful to researchers. Over time, more effective statistical tools will be invented that will improve the process of data analysis. The findings on different statistical analysis tools will also be highlighted. Thus, the discussions show the impact, applications, and lessons learned from the statistical analysis tools by the project managers and engineers. The study will also present the limitations, along with the conclusions and recommendations.

Purpose. The aim of the study was to discuss the use of tools and methods of statistical analysis, as well as forms of graphic presentation of results obtained in articles published in “Folia Turistica” during the last 30 years of its history. Method. The basic method was a review of all articles in terms of the use of statistical methods applied in scientific papers published in “Folia Turistica” in the years 1990 - 2018 (volumes 1- 49). Findings. Out of 486 articles published in 49 volumes of “Folia Turistica” from 1990-2018, 31% used statistical tools and methods. The graphic presentation of analysis of results can be found in 78 articles (including 12 publications with prepared maps), the use of statistical tests in 35 articles, and the use of multi-dimensional statistical methods in 28 articles. An important part of the works are methodological publications. The authors used statistical parametric and non-parametric tests, linear and non-linear regression models, taxonomic and factor analysis and (in individual cases) relatively rare tests, including those related to spatial analyses (I-Moran and Isard coefficient). Research and conclusions limitations. The work concerns the use of statistical tools and methods in scientific articles in “Folia Turistica” issue No. 1-49. In some works, there was no verification of the applicability assumptions of selected statistical tools or justification for their selection, or the purposes of the research were too general. Practical implications. The indicated tools and methods of statistical analysis may be inspiration for authors and readers of scientific papers in the preparation of numerical data and forms of their presentation. Originality. Meta-analysis was prepared on the occasion of the anniversary edition of the 50th issue of “Folia Turistica”. Type of paper. The article is a review.

In order to understand data and present findings in an accurate way, researchers and managers need to develop an awareness of statistical analysis techniques. This chapter focuses on two sets of the most widely used statistical tools – exploring relationships and comparing groups. It also briefly explains the nature of Big Data. This chapter explores the data preparation approach, how to conduct preliminary (descriptive) analysis as well as introducing some of the main statistical techniques used in quantitative research in business management. The key issues that should be related back to your study question are a) how to prepare your data; b) how to conduct preliminary data analysis; c) what analyses are appropriate for comparing groups; d) what techniques are most appropriate for exploring relationships.

This study presents the experimental data analysis of the work of cathodic protection stations was carried out by the transportation company with measurements for two quarters. Statistical analysis realized on the basis of Shewhart control charts.

The monograph discusses the application of statistical criteria aimed at testing hypotheses about the absence of a trend in the analyzed samples. The rejection of such a hypothesis gives grounds to consider the analyzed data as samples of independent equally distributed random variables. We consider a set of special criteria aimed at testing such hypotheses, as well as a set of criteria for the uniformity of laws, the uniformity of averages and the uniformity of variances, which can also be used for these purposes. The disadvantages and advantages of various criteria are emphasized, the application of criteria in conditions of violation of standard assumptions is considered. Estimates of the power of the criteria are given, which allows you to navigate when choosing the most preferred criteria. Following the recommendations will ensure the correctness and increase the validity of statistical conclusions when analyzing data. It is intended for specialists who are interested in the application of statistical methods for the analysis of various aspects and trends of the surrounding reality and who are in contact with the processing of experimental results, the need for data analysis in their activities. It will be useful for engineers, researchers, specialists of various profiles (doctors, biologists, sociologists, economists, etc.) who face the need for statistical analysis of experimental results in their activities. This paper merges two parallel developments since the 1970s of new statistical tools for data analysis: statistical methods known as hazard models that are used for analyzing event-duration data and statistical methods for analyzing hierarchically clustered data known as multilevel models. These developments have rarely been integrated in research practice and the formalization and estimation of models for hierarchically clustered survival data remain largely uncharted. I attempt to fill some of this gap and demonstrate the merits of formulating and estimating multilevel hazard models with longitudinal data.

Linguistics in works of Ivan Franko, or the so-called «Lingvofrankiana » is one of the key directions of numerous researches of Professor of Journalism Department of The Ivan Franko National University in Lviv, Oleksandra Serbenska, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor. It is very relevant in the conditions of a fight for the role of the Ukrainian language as the basis for the Ukrainian state. The article rediscovers numerous linguistics chapters in monograph and works of Oleksandra Serbenska dealing with the research of Ivan Franko’s works so that to spread knowledge about Ukrainian linguistics, Ukrainian language and the language of the Ukrainian genius, Ivan Franko. It also classified her scientific publications about Ivan Franko according to genres and periods. Additionally, it interpreted, analyzed and differentiated these publications per the traditional, new and dominant chapters of the applied linguistics utilizing the methods of identification, systematization, linguistics and statistical analysis. The novelty of the research is a complex approach to the discovery of traditional and new chapters of linguistics in works of professor Oleksandra Serbenska about the language, language creation and linguistics of Ivan Franko. The findings gained in the course of the research of Ivan Franko’s works’ linguistics by Prof. Oleksandra Serbenska have important theoretical, linguistic and practical meaning and support the development of research of Ivan Franko heritage. In this article, I discuss three statistical tools that have proven pivotal in linguistic research, particularly those studies that seek to evaluate large datasets. These tools are the Gaussian Curve, significance tests, and hierarchical clustering. I present a brief description of these tools and their general uses. Then, I apply them to an analysis of the variations between the “biblical” DSS and our other witnesses, focusing upon variations involving particles. Finally, I engage the recent debate surrounding the diachronic study of Biblical Hebrew. This article serves a dual function. First, it presents statistical tools that are useful for many linguistic studies. Second, it develops an analysis of the he-locale, as it is used in the “biblical” Dead Sea Scrolls, Masoretic Text, and Samaritan Pentateuch. Through that analysis, this article highlights the value of inferential statistical tools as we attempt to better understand the Hebrew of our ancient witnesses.
