The paper discusses various ways of activating phosphorus slags by introducing additives for the development of phosphorus slag binders (PSB), replacing cement. Considering that pseudowollastonite is the main mineral of phosphorus slags and without activating components does not possess the binding properties necessary for the production of building materials based on them, we used compositions of small amounts of sodium hydroxide with alkali metal salts, the anions of which form poorly soluble compounds with calcium. When choosing activating components, scarce alkaline additives were replaced by waste from chemical plants, which allows a passing solution of their practical use and environmental problems. The strength at a sodium hydroxide content of 1–4 % after curing of slag samples of various batches was in the range of 50.0–70.0 MPa. Samples of binders of normal hardening at the age of 28 days with a sodium hydroxide content of 0.5; 1.0, 2 and 4 % had the strength of 20.3; 35.4; 45.6; 55.8 MPa, respectively. The effect of the combined presence of alkali and salt is especially noticeable for small amounts of sodium hydroxide. Binders containing a composition of cement with salts under normal conditions and after curing showed a slightly lower strength than in an alkaline medium. With a constant cement content (4 %), the strength indicators increase with an increase in the proportion of the salt additive, reaching at 4 % its maximum value. The effect of the nature of activators on pH was determined. The data obtained indicate the advantages of using PSB and various industrial wastes with a low content of alkaline compounds in the production

Geopolymer concrete plays a major role in concrete industry by replacing cement and using the industrial wastes. In this study, the cement is completely replaced by GGBS and strength properties are analyzed. An M30 mix design is prepared and the specimens are cast and tested. For this, sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate are used as activator and its ratio is fixed as 1:2.5. Sodium hydroxide of 12 molarity, 550kg/m3 of GGBS is used in the study. Admixture La Hypercrete S25 (HTS code 38244090) is added in the mix by 1% of weight of GGBS to obtain the required workability. For compression study, cubes in 100 mm size are cast. Cylinders with 100mm dia and 200mm height are tested for splitting tensile strength and beam specimens of 500mm long and 100mm cross sections were cast for determining the flexure behaviour. The beams are subjected to ambient curing and tested at 3, 7, 14, 28 and 56 days. The test result shows that there is a gradual increment in all the strengths from 3 to 56 days and it proves that geopolymer concrete with GGBS cured at ambient temperature performs well in the strength properties.

Infrastructural developments are inevitable for the developing countries and hence the production of sustainable building materials is promoted worldwide. Sustainable development in the vicinity of tiles is bewildered for more than a decade. Production of conventional tiles such as cement concrete tiles, clay tiles and ceramic tiles is energy intensive approach and levies lot of strain over the adjunct ecosystem. On the other hand there are serious problems related to the disposal of flyash, Rice Husk Ash throughout the world. An approach has been taken to synthesis tiles based on these industrial byproducts as the base materials through Geopolymer technology. In this work, Geopolymer mortar after heat curing is applied as tiles. In this work, Flyash is replaced by Rice Husk Ash in various proportions such as 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 percent. Tests such as workability, flatness, straightness, perpendicularity, water absorption, modulus of rupture and abrasion are conducted and fair results are obtained. This research also portrays the effect of Rise Husk Ash addition over the flyash based Geopolymer binder in the utility as tiles. The findings of this research work encourages the development of energy efficient tiles using industrial wastes. Keywords: Geopolymer, Rice Husk Ash, Tiles

Building materials production generates a large amount of harmful substances poisoning the atmosphere. One of the major sources polluting cities environment is metallurgical industry. Concentration is one of the most important processes where empty components are extracted from the rock. During ore concentration, an increasing number of man-made wastes are generated; they pollute the air and huge area around the factories discharging these wastes. This reduces both space for people to live and place for cities to function and develop. It should be noted that metal production enterprises have accumulated billions of tons of industrial wastes (tailings) that include a large amount of iron-containing materials and rocks; these can be used as building materials, for example, when preparing fine-grained concrete as a mineral powder as well as in construction of roads, houses, in paint production, etc.

The effects of cement content and curing period on a new synthetic model ice, DUT-1, are reported. The cement (450#) contents were 10%, 11%, 12%, 13%, 14%, 15% and 16% by dry weight of mixture material. Eight different curing periods were used: 66 h, 92 h, 115 h, 139 h, 163 h, 186 h, 211 h and 235 h. Physical and mechanical properties, such as density, compressive strength, flexural strength, and elastic modulus, were determined. The density and mechanical parameters were found to increase with increasing cement content, whereas the durations of curing period under normal air temperature resulted in increasing these properties to a maximum value, then decreasing values.

Expansive clay soils are geotechnically problematic in nature as they possess less shear strength, high compressibility and low permeability. This research work was carried out with a view to improve index and engineering properties of expansive soil by stabilizing it with industrial wastes and geopolymers. The industrial wastes such as fly ash, silica fume and sodium-hydroxide were used for the stabilization of expansive soil. the virgin clay soil was tested for its index properties, compaction characteristics and shear strength determination. the stabilization of clay is made by adding and mixing those materials by varying its percentage. In the stabilization of soil with sodium hydroxide, an attempt has been made to study the effect of its molarity on the various properties of the soil. The clay soil stabilized with various materials was also tested for the same properties and that results were compared with that of virgin soil to find the effect of stabilization.

Abstract: In this developing era concrete and cement mortar are widely used by the construction industry, with this development. Large number of industrial wastes are generated and if these wastes are not properly used it will create severe problems, keeping the environment in mind, concrete engineers are trying to find some alternative materials which will not only replaces the cement content but also improves strength of concrete. As we also know that during the manufacturing of cement large amount of Co2 is released into the environment, but if we use such material that will replace the quantity of cement content therefore indirectly, we are contributing towards the prevention of our planet from global warming and other pollutions. Also, in this research work the Rice Husk Ash is used. the rice husk ash obtained from the rice processing units, by adding this product with concrete, not only replaces the cement content but also increases the strength of concrete like compressive strength etc. The Rice husk ash was incorporated with concrete with varying percentages of 2.5% ,5% ,7.5%, & 10%. the proper codal precautions were followed during the manufacture of concrete cubes of 150x150x150mm. it was concluded that the strength of concrete increased by incorporated the rice husk ash. This study considered the production of composite ceiling boards from both agricultural and industrial wastes. Boards with different blending proportions by weight of cement, corncob and sawdust (Cem:Ccb:Swd) were produced and tested. Physical and mechanical tests such as Water Absorption (WA), Thickness Swelling (TS), Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) and Modulus of Rupture (MOR) were carried out on the products. The findings revealed that the board with Cem:Ccb:Swd blending proportion 50:10:40 gave the highest values of MOE and MOR and also had the lowest values of WA and TS. The MOE and MOR values of 3.432 are both higher than the minimum values of 550 N/mm2 and 3 N/mm2 specified for MOE and MOR respectively by the American National Standard Institute, for general-use particle boards. The cement content is inversely proportional to the physical properties and directly proportional to the mechanical properties.

The Ca++ binding properties of human prothrombin were studied by equilibrium dialysis using 45 calcium chloride at +4° C with prothrombin concentration of about 1 mg/ml equilibrated in 0.025 M Tris HCl, 0.12 M NaCl buffer pH 7.4. Scatchard plots obtained were similar to those described by Steenflo (1973) for bovine prothrombin, suggesting a positive cooperativity in the binding of Ca++ with a maximum ratio of bound Ca++/free Ca++ of 3 moles of Ca++ bound per mole of protein. The total number of binding sites was found to be at about 7, less than 10 to 12 found for bovine prothrombin. Ca++ binding was dependent on pH variation of the buffer with a maximum value for pH 8.5. Chemical modifications of carboxyl groups of prothrombin according to Hoare and Koshland (1967) abolished the Ca++ binding ability of the molecule confirming the essential role of these residues in this specific property of prothrombin.
