Abstract Reflecting about the future of Earth and its inhabitants is essential to ensure a possible tomorrow. Therefore, socio-environmental impact shall become a universal and inevitable concern of researchers, educational institutions and scientific research regulatory agencies. Social and environmental impacts, in all senses, must be considered into any production of knowledge. Some questions help incorporate this conduct in academic research: How can research ensure effective socio-environmental impacts on society? What is the best way to conduct research so that it has positive social and environmental impacts from the beginning? How can research be fully dedicated to generating positive socio-environmental impacts in every step? We concluded that socio-environmental impacts must be considered just as much or even more important than those of socioeconomic and technological nature.

O presente artigo objetiva discutir e apresentar os resultados das análises feitas sobre a implantação de parques eólicos na região de Sento Sé/BA, seus impactos positivos para a matriz energética brasileira, a relevância do licenciamento ambiental visando evitar os impactos socioambientais negativos e as medidas de mitigação para combater tais impactos. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza qualitativa e de caráter exploratório, e, para delineamento da mesma, utilizou-se de pesquisa bibliográfica para fundamentação teórica. No que diz respeito à coleta de dados, este se deu por meio das técnicas de observação in loco, e análise de discurso da população local. Mediante o que foi pesquisado é possível afirmar que é de fundamental importância a implementação de usinas de energia consideradas limpas e renováveis que possam contribuir para o desenvolvimento sustentável do país, sendo que o Brasil já foi apontado por um estudo do Programa das Nações Unidas para o Meio Ambiente como maior mercado mundial de energia renovável. No entanto, é importante enfatizar a necessidade de considerar as peculiaridades locais, principalmente as do Semiárido brasileiro e, efetivar um rigoroso Estudo de Impacto Ambiental (EIA) e seu consequente Relatório de Impacto Ambiental (RIMA) ao invés de Relatório Ambiental Simplificado (RAS). Palavras-chave: Energia eólica, Impactos Ambientais, Transformações Espaciais.  Parks Wind and Spatial Transformations: an Analysis of Environmental Impacts in the Region of Sento Sé/BA  ABSTRACT This article aims to discuss and present the results of analyzes made on the siting of wind farms in the region of Sento Se / BA, its positive impacts on the Brazilian energy matrix, the relevance of environmental licensing in order to avoid the negative social and environmental impacts and measures mitigation to address such impacts. This is a qualitative research and exploratory, and, for the same design was used for the theoretical literature. With regard to data collection, this was through the techniques of on-site observation and discourse analysis of the local population. By what has been researched is possible to affirm that it is of fundamental importance to the implementation of power plants considered clean and renewable that can contribute to sustainable development of the country, while Brazil has already been pointed out by a study of the United Nations Program for Environment as the largest global market for renewable energy. However, it is important to emphasize the need to consider local peculiarities, especially in the Semi and enforce a rigorous Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and subsequent Environmental Impact Report (RIMA) instead of Simplified Environmental Report (RAS).Keywords: Wind Energy, Environmental Impacts, Spatial Transformations.

Abstract. Within the ROBOMINERS project an innovative technology for the future exploitation of small and difficult to access mineral deposits is being studied. The project has two main objectives. First, the development of a bioinspired reconfigurable robotic miner prototype, able to navigate, explore and mine selectively with a certain degree of autonomy. The robot-miner will be able to work under different conditions, making the exploitation of many mineral deposits economically feasible, while reducing social and environmental impacts associated with conventional mining methods. The second objective is the creation of a vision of a new mining ecosystem, its function, parts, research roadmaps and visions for years 2030 and 2050, including creation of novel ideas from other sectors, particularly robotics. The robotic ecosystem concept will be tested in representative sites across Europe with simulations, showcasing the different mining environments and conditions where it can be applied.

By its very definition sustainable tourism is a both a current- and a future-oriented activity; it’s tourism “that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities” according to the UNWTO. Understanding sustainable tourism and managing therefore has a very strong future-oriented component, which is the focus of this chapter. Often, when we want to understand the future, one of the first things that we need to do is look to the past to identify the trends that have got us to where we are now, and that, in all likelihood, will continue to be trends into the future. The context for tourism’s future is a history of spectacular and sustained growth, measured in terms of volume, geographic spread, economic benefits, as well as environmental and social impacts. Going back 40 years to the 1970s, tourism has grown from under 70 million international tourist arrivals, to over 1 billion international tourist arrivals in 2012, according to UNWTO estimates.

The Future

There are increasing concerns on the environmental impact of port operations which resulted in pressing global issues such as adopting sustainable technologies to reduce environmental harmful impacts on ports. From the sustainability perspective, a port should manage and balance three aspects which are economic, social, and environmental impacts. Using Internet of things (IoT) technology could minimize the environmental harmful impacts on ports and increase their sustainability. This paper aims at investigating the impact of applying IoT technology on Egyptian ports' sustainability. A semi structured interview was conducted with a representative sample of different stakeholders (government, port authority, freight forwarders, importers and exporters), upon which the main challenges and obstacles to adopt IoT technology in the Egyptian ports were identified. The paper concluded with suggestions and recommendations to help practitioners to consider the applicability of IoT technology as a sustainability driver in the Egyptian ports.

Corporate Social Responsibilityis a concept that a company has various forms of responsibility to all stakeholders including consumers, employees, shareholders, communities and the environment in all aspects of the company's operations that include economic, social, and environmental aspects. Therefore CSR is closely related to "sustainable development", in which a company, in carrying out its activities must base its decisions not only on the impact on economic aspects, such as the level of profits or dividends (profits), but also must consider the social and environmental impacts that arise from that decision, both for the short term and the longer term.Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG), in managing its Productive Waqf by establishing business units which mostly involve workers from the local society around PMDG. They are employed according to their skills. This is a form of implementing CSR in order to help advance and improve the welfare of the local society. The existence of these various business units is one of the educational facilities and as a form of CSR application which is actually intended to educate in the fields of independence, entrepreneurship, sincerity and sacrifice.PMDG involvement in social activities that are useful for the local society such as infrastructure development and village facilities, regeneration of students who are from around PMDG to be able to get higher education with funding from the PMDG, doing guidance to the local society through various religious activities, educational and economic activities is a form of PMDG responsibility to the local society environment and also to all stakeholders such as students, Ustadz, employees, so as to provide social and environmental impacts for the short term and the longer term.Keywords: Corporate Social Responsibilityandproductive waqf.

This chapter provides a review of the book, which explores how to conceptually understand and practically evaluate the quality of qualitative research. Despite the fact that there are few scholarly pieces regarding qualitative research, the depth and creativity that the pioneering researchers have demonstrated are profound, and the extent to which they cover not only the broad quality of qualitative research but also most of the specific qualities expected by many different kinds of qualitative research is incredible. This chapter summarizes the major topics of this book. Final remarks on this exciting, creative, but difficult topic are preceded by the following summary: Fortunately, There are commonly agreed, bold standards for evaluating the goodness of qualitative research in the academic research community. These standards are a part of what is generally called “scientific research.”

As procurement organizations increasingly move from a cost-and-efficiency emphasis to a profit-and-growth emphasis, flexible data architecture will become an integral part of a procurement analytics strategy. It is therefore imperative for procurement leaders to understand and address digitization trends in supply chains and to develop strategies to create robust data architecture and analytics strategies for the future. This chapter assesses and examines the ways companies can organize their procurement data architectures in the big data space to mitigate current limitations and to lay foundations for the discovery of new insights. It sets out to understand and define the levels of maturity in procurement organizations as they pertain to the capture, curation, exploitation, and management of procurement data. The chapter then develops a framework for articulating the value proposition of moving between maturity levels and examines what the future entails for companies with mature data architectures. In addition to surveying the practitioner and academic research literature on procurement data analytics, the chapter presents detailed and structured interviews with over fifteen procurement experts from companies around the globe. The chapter finds several important and useful strategies that have helped procurement organizations design strategic roadmaps for the development of robust data architectures. It then further identifies four archetype procurement area data architecture contexts. In addition, this chapter details exemplary high-level mature data architecture for each archetype and examines the critical assumptions underlying each one. Data architectures built for the future need a design approach that supports both descriptive and real-time, prescriptive analytics.
