ABSTRACT: An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of priming, planting patterns and weed control treatments on weed spectrum, grain yield and profitability of wheat, during the growing season 2013-14. Two levels of seed priming (no priming, osmopriming) and planting patterns (broadcast, row plantation), and four levels of herbicide (pyroxulam at the rate of 14.08, 10.56, 7.04 and 7.521 g a.i. ha-1) were employed in the experiment, laid out in a randomized complete block design with split-split plot arrangement. The data regarding weed density, stand establishment, growth, and yield associated traits of wheat were recorded and analyzed by analysis of variance technique using statistical software DSAASTAT. The results revealed that the final emergence count was improved significantly by line sowing. The seed priming treatments resulted in early crop emergence and canopy spread, and it also decreased weed density and dry weight by 13% and 18%, respectively at 60 DAS (days after sowing). Moreover, grain yield was improved by 8% in priming treatment plots. Whereas, line sowing of wheat treatment decreased the weed density and dry weight by 17% and 25% respectively, with improved grain yield by 14% over the broadcast method. Pyroxulam at the rate of 14.08 g a.i. ha-1 applied at 60 DAS reduced total weed density and dry weight by 88% and 96% respectively and grain yield was improved by 36% over weedy check plots. In conclusion, osmoprimed seeds (1% KCl) sown in lines 22.5 cm apart gave higher wheat yields where weeds were properly controlled through application of pyroxulam applied at its recommended dose (14.08 g a.i. ha-1) and also 75% of recommended dose under Faisalabad conditions.

Abstract Plant growth is influenced by seed quality. Seeds need to be treated to prevent pest and disease disorders or to increase seed germination. Soybean planting was carried out in this study by the treatment of varieties and seed pre-treatment application before planting. The study aimed to measure the growth and yield of soybeans by varieties and seed treatment before planting, carried out in the Village of Nggembe, District of Bolo, Bima Regency. The study used factorial randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was soybean varieties consisting of two levels, namely Devon and Dena varieties, and the second factor was the application of pre-planting seed treatments consisting of four levels namely Cruiser, Marshall, Agrisoy, and without seed treatment, each treatment was repeated three times. Observations were made on the performance of agronomic crops and soybean yields. The results showed that the treatment of soybean varieties and the application of seed treatment had a significant influence on plant height and soybean productivity, and both treatments had interactions on parameters of plant height, number of filled pods, weight of 100 seeds, and soybean productivity with the best results successively produced by a combination of Devon-Control, Devon-Marshall, Devon-Agrisoy, and Dena-Cruiser.

Abstract. This research aims to determine the effect of broiler manure doses and BiotamaxTM biofertilizers on growth and yield of Chinese cabbage in the Selat Village, Buleleng Regency, Bali from November - December 2018. The randomized block design (RBD) factorial, consisting of two factors was the experimental design used in this research. The first factor is the dose of broiler manure (A), composed of 3 levels, namely control (A0), a dose of 15 tons.ha-1 (A1), and 30 tons.ha-1 (A2). The second factor is the application frequency of biological fertilizers with four levels, namely control (B0) which was administered concurrently for seven days before planting at a dose of 0.09 g.plots-1. B1 with an administrative frequency of 7 and 14 days before and after planting (HST), respectively, with a dose of 0.045 g.plots-1. (B2) with a 3times administrative frequency of 7, 14, and 28 days before, after birth and after each dose of 0.03 g.plots-1 (B3). The results of the study, the frequency of giving BiotaMaxTM biological fertilizer at the same time, provided the heaviest oven-dry weight per crop, which was 9.39 g. The treatment of broiler chicken manure dose of 30 tons.ha-1 (A2), resulted in the best oven-dry weight canopy per plant at 9.26 g. The relationship between the dose of broiler chicken manure with canopy oven-dry weight per plant showed a linear relationship, namely y = 0.0608x + 7.2483 (R2 = 32.53). The best economic weight per hectare is obtained in the provision of 30 tons.ha-1 (A2) broiler manure, weighing 30.10 tons.ha-1. The relationship between the dose of broiler manure and economic weight per hectare shows a linear relationship, y = 0.3247x + 21.699 R² = 59.88%. The frequency of giving BiotaMaxTM biofertilizers at the same time is 7 days before planting at a dose of 0.09 g.plots-1 (B1) gave the heaviest economic weight per hectare, at 28.21 tons.ha-1. The combination of broiler chicken manure dose and the frequency of BiotaMaxTM biofertilizer gave no significant effect (p≥0.05) on the growth and yield of Chinese cabbage. Keywords: broiler manure, biofertilizer frequency, petsaiAbstrak. Two experiments were conducted in the Savelugu-Nanton Municipality of the Northern Region of Ghana in 2012 and 2013 to assess the effect of N fertilizer on growth, N remobilization and grain yield of three local varieties of soybean (Glycine max [L] Merill). The experiments were a 3 x 4 factorial laid in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications. Factor A was soybean varieties (Jenguma, Quarshie, Ahotor); Factor B was 0, 15, 30 and 45 kg N ha-1. The experimental fields were planted manually on the flat by drilling and later thinned to 2 plants hill-1 at 0.50 m × 0.10 m with a population of about 400 000 plants ha-1. Growth and yield parameters measured were plant height, nodule number plant-1, nodule dry weight plant-1, percent nodule effectiveness, number of pods plant-1, number of seeds pod-1, 100 seed weight, harvest index and grain yield. The results showed that the control recorded lower figures in all growth parameters. Nitrogen remobilization was also observed in all plots, which indicate that soybean needs greater levels of N during grain filling. Again, N remobilization and soybean yield were highest in the 45 kg N ha-1 treatment compared to the other treatments. However, considering the overall yields, farmers in the study area should be advised to adopt starter N fertilization of soybean for higher yields as the soils are highly degraded in soil fertility.

The effect of lime and fertilizer application, as the management of soil acidity, on the growth and yield of rice cv. BRRI dhan50 was investigated during Aman rice season at the Agronomy Field Laboratory of Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh. The experiment was consisted of two factors namely lime and fertilizer. There were four levels of lime (0, 0.50, 1.00, and 1.50 t ha–1 of CaCO3.MgCO3) and three levels of fertilizers (control, FYM @ 10 t ha–1, and chemical fertilizer @ 100-30-42-4-3-0.4 kg ha–1 of N-P-K-Ca-S-Zn). The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications where the unit plot size was 4.0 m x 2.5 m. Growth parameters, yield components and yield of BRRIdhan 50 rice increased with increasing lime rate in association of fertilizer in acidic soil. The highest grain yield (2.90 t ha–1) was recorded from the application of 1.50 t ha–1 lime and the lowest (2.06 t ha–1) was from control (0t ha–1), irrespective of fertilizer. On the other hand, the best effect of fertilizers on grain yield (3.08 t ha–1) was found with the application of FYM @ 10 t ha–1 and the lowest yield (1.59 t ha–1) was in control. The treatment combination of lime 1.50 t ha–1 and FYM (@ 10 t ha–1 produced the highest grain yield (3.60 t ha–1), which was followed by treatment combination of lime 1.50 t ha–1 and chemical fertilizer @ 100-30-42-4-3-0.4 kg ha–1 of N-P-K-Ca-S-Zn (3.28 t ha–1). Additionally, application of lime and FYM improved the soil fertility and properties of acidic soil for crop production by increasing the pH, organic matter and availability of some essential nutrients. From the study, it was indicated that both FYM and lime could affect to enhance the grain yield of rice in acidic soil. J. Bangladesh Agril. Univ. 16(3): 357–365, December 2018
