Although recent policies in education in Brazil have included sexuality as an important theme to be discussed in the classroom, it still has not effectively created an educational context where sexuality can be discussed in a positive, non-discriminatory and culturally/historically sensitive way. This article aims at contributing to the development of training programs for sexual educators, specifically for those who are concerned with the inclusion of non-normative sexualities in the educational context. Drawing on social constructionist ideas, we have delineated a model for a training program for sexual educators in which two themes - relational engagement and focus on the process - set the context for a transformation in education. First, we offer a brief review of sexual education in Brazil. Next, we introduce the notion of "intelligibility communities" and "dialogue," as useful concepts for exploring educational alternatives. These two concepts allow us to discuss how values are generated and how they play into our accounts about what we consider to be real and good. Finally, inspired by one of our training programs, we illustrate some ways in which these theoretical resources can be used in training activities.

Over the last few decades, several administrations in Canada have organized programs for training local elected officials (LEOs). While improving LEOs’ competences is beneficial, this trend is developing amidst a persisting tension between democratic and technocratic approaches to governance. Indeed, training - and the professionalization it entails - disrupts the enduring principle holding that everyone is equally authorized to govern following the democratic election. Despite the significance of these transformations, training activities for LEOs have received limited scholarly attention until now. In this paper, we detail our conceptualization of the professionalization process and the role of training programs within it. We then review the existing Canadian training programs for LEOs. We also examine one case study: the main introductory training program for LEOs in Québec (Canada) since 2011. Accordingly, we advance our understanding of training’s effects on elected officials by emphasizing how they contribute to a long-term process of professionalization.

The purpose of this article is to increase strength, speed, accuracy, endurance, and coordination and balance are crucial in producing good and correct archery basic techniques, so as to produce good archery accuracy. In line with that, we think that in order to get the automation and effectiveness of arm muscle strength, arrow speed in order to reach the target in archery, in this case it is necessary to have regular and directed physical training, this is felt to be more effectively done through devotion activities carried out by the student . But in its application the field is actually different, isotonic training, which is a form of exercise with shortened and elongated muscle contractions, in this case the chosen form of exercise is bow pulling training, whereas isometric training is a form of training that contracts with no shortening or elongation, in this case the form of exercise used is to hold the arc pressure (balance). The system of implementing the two forms of training is adjusted to the training program that has been planned and established for the achievement of the peak achievements of UIN, Serambi and Ubudiyah students at the STKIP BBG Banda Aceh. The aim is to improve skills, accuracy, right on target when archery, so in this case the solution offered in this service is to conduct training activities based on daily, weekly and monthly training programs. Abstrak Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kekuatan, kecepatan, ketepatan, daya tahan, dan koordinasi serta keseimbangan sangat menentukan dalam menghasilkan teknik dasar memanah yang baik dan benar, sehingga menghasilkan ketepatan memanah yang baik. Sejalan dengan itu, kami berpikir bahwa untuk mendapatkan otomatisasi dan efektivitas kekuatan otot lengan, kecepatan anak panah demi mencapai target dalam memanah, maka dalam hal ini perlu latihan fisik secara rutin dan terarah, hal ini dirasa lebih efektif dilakukan melalui kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan mahasiswa tersebut. Namun dalam aplikasinya dilapangan justru berbeda, latihan isotonik yaitu suatu bentuk latihan dengan konstraksi otot memendek dan memanjang dalam hal ini bentuk latihan yang dipilih adalah latihan menarik busur, sedangkan latihan isometrik merupakan suatu bentuk latihan yang berkontraksi dengan tidak terjadi pemendekan atau pemanjangan, dalam hal ini bentuk latihan yang dipergunakan adalah menahan tekanan busur (keseimbangan). Sistem pelaksanaan kedua bentuk latihan disesuaikan dengan program latihan yang telah direncanakan dan ditetapkan untuk pencapaian prestasi puncak mahasiswa UIN, Serambi dan Ubudiyah di STKIP BBG Banda Aceh. Tujuannya adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan, ketepatan, tepat sasaran saat memanah, maka dalam hal ini solusi yang ditawarkan dalam pengabdian ini adalah dengan melakukan kegiatan pelatihan berpedoman pada program latihan harian, mingguan dan bulanan. Kata Kunci: Keterampilan, Memanah, Mahasiswa.

Holonic networks constitute a type of organizational structures widely used at manufacturing enterprises. In an educational context, however, this type of structures remains practically unknown. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the applicability of these organizational structures to the design of professional training programs. Thus, we have herein proposed a conceptual model for holonic organizations that captures the structure and characteristics of this type of organizations. The use of this model is illustrated through the design of an academic organization devoted to professional training programs on Software Engineering. This paper describes the use of the combination of Holonic Networks and Business Models techniques for modeling complex organizational systems.

This paper is describes the design, development, implementation and evaluation of a preparatory training program for international medical trainees. The program was offered for one week full time shortly before they begin their residency training programs. First the paper reports on the survey and focus groups that guided the learning objectives and the course content. Next the paper describes the curriculum development phase and reports on the topical themes, session goals and objectives and learning materials. Three main themes emerged when developing the program: understanding the educational, health and practice systems in Canada; development of communication skills; and supporting personal success in residency training including self assessment, reflection and personal wellness. Sample lesson plans and handouts from each of the theme areas are illustrated. The comprehensive evaluation of the sessions and the overall program is then also described. The paper then summarizes the identified key issues and challenges in the design and implementation of a preparatory training program for international medical trainees before they begin their residency training programs. We sought to assess the impact of procedural skills simulation training on residents’ competence in performing critical resuscitation skills. Our study was a prospective, cross-sectional study of residents from three residency training programs (Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine) at the University of Calgary. Participants completed a survey measuring competence in the performance of the procedural skills required to manage hemodynamic instability. The study intervention was an 8 hour simulation based training program focused on resuscitation procedure psychomotor skill acquisition. Competence was criterion validated at the Right Internal Jugular Central Venous Catheter Insertion station by an expert observer using a standardized checklist (Observed Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) format). At the completion of the simulation course participants repeated the self-assessment survey. Descriptive Statistics, Cronbach’s alpha, Pearson’s correlation coefficient and Paired Sample t-test statistical tools were applied to the analyze the data. Thirty-five of 37 residents (9 FRCPC Emergency Medicine, 4 CCFP-Emergency Medicine, 17 CCFP, and 5 Internal Medicine) completed both survey instruments and the eight hour course. Seventy-two percent of participants were PGY-1 or 2. Mean age was 30.7 years of age. Cronbach’s alpha for the survey instrument was 0.944. Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient was 0.69 (p < 0.001) for relationship between Expert Assessment and Self-Assessment. The mean improvement in competence score pre- to post-intervention was 6.77 (p < 0.01, 95% CI 5.23-8.32). Residents from a variety of training programs (Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine) demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in competence with critical resuscitation procedural skills following an intensive simulation based training program. As developing programs is the core in fostering knowledge on ethnic work for cadres and civil servants under Decision No. 402/QD-TTg dated 14/3/2016 of the Prime Minister, it is urgent to build training program on ethnic minority affairs for 04 target groups in the political system from central to local by 2020 with a vision to 2030. The article highlighted basic issues of practical basis to design training program of ethnic minority affairs in the past years; suggested solutions to build the training programs in integration and globalization period.

Abstract Training operators to efficiently operate critical systems is a cumbersome and costly activity. A training program aims at modifying operators’ knowledge and skills about the system they will operate. The design, implementation and evaluation of a ‘good’ training program is a complex activity that requires involving multi-disciplinary work from multiple stakeholders. This paper proposes the combined use of task descriptions and augmented reality (AR) technologies to support training activities both for trainees and instructors. AR interactions offer the unique benefit of bringing together the cyber and the physical aspects of an aircraft cockpit, thus providing support to training in this context that cannot be achieved by software tutoring systems. On the instructor side, the LeaFT-MixeR system supports the systematic coverage of planed tasks as well as the constant monitoring of trainee performance. On the trainee side, LeaFT-MixeR provides real-time AR information supporting the identification of objects with which to interact, in order to perform the planned task. The paper presents the engineering principles and their implementation to bring together AR technologies and tool-supported task models. We show how these principles are embedded in LeaFT-MixeR system as well as its application to the training of flight procedures in aircraft cockpits.

Communication between athletic training programs and preceptors is not only an accreditation requirement, but also a mechanism to foster effective clinical education experiences. Communicating regularly with preceptors can provide them with feedback and help demonstrate their value to the athletic training program. Improved communication between academic and clinical education has been identified as a need in athletic training. Ongoing communication can be facilitated in a variety of formal and informal ways, including preceptor newsletters, site visits, questionnaires, meetings, and phone calls. Clinical education coordinators should select methods of communication that meet the needs of their program and preceptors.

In this paper we analyzed the path and process of developing ideas and programs for the development of university teachers' competencies, barriers and resistance to such programs that we shared with other universities, but also the successes we have achieved. The paper presents and analyzes the results of the research about university teaching goals of the Belgrade University teachers participating in such a training program, with the results from which it is evident why they are needed and what training programs are needed for university teachers.

Introduction: Many factors impact the performance of graduating residents on certification exams. It is thought that most factors are related to the individual candidate’s ability, motivation, and work ethic. Less understood, however, is whether a training program has any impact on the preparation and performance of its graduates on certification exams. We present 20 years of results of a national preparatory exam that all graduating residents complete about three months before the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) qualifying urology exam. This exam, known colloquially as QUEST, aims to simulate the RCPSC exam with written and oral components. We aimed to analyze the impact of a training program on the performance of its residents. Methods: A retrospective review of exam results from 1997–2016 was conducted. During that time, 495 candidates from all 12 Canadian urology training programs undertook the exam. The performance of graduating residents from each individual program was grouped together for any given year. The different programs were anonymized, as the aim of this study is to assess the impact of a training program and not to rate the different programs. Statistical analysis using one-way ANOVA was conducted. Results: All training programs fall within one standard deviation of the mean for the written component, the oral component, and the overall score. The residents of four training programs had statistically better scores than the overall mean of the written component. The residents of three out of these four training programs also had statistically better scores than the overall mean of the oral component and the overall results of the exam. Conclusions: Most Canadian training programs prepare their residents adequately for this simulated certification exam in urology. However, there are some training programs that consistently prepare graduating residents to outperform their peers.
