In the Internet age, the proliferation of multimedia computer technology (MCT) brings unprecedented opportunities to English teaching in colleges. This paper firstly carries out a questionnaire survey on the current status of personalized teaching of college English, and summed up the main problems with the current teaching mode. On this basis, the authors developed an MCT-based personalized English teaching design, with the aid of information technology (IT) and online teaching platform. To verify its effect, the proposed design was tested through contrastive experiment. The results show that the MCT-based personalized English teaching design could improve the interests and performance of English learning, and cultivate a good learning habit. In summary, this paper explores the personalized teaching of college English from both theoretical and practical angles, laying a good basis for high-quality English teaching and personalized development of students.

Multimedia technology refers to the computermediated software that integrates text, color, graphical images, animation, audio sound, and full motion video in a single application. Multimedia learning systems offer a potential venue for improving students’ interest, understanding and learning efficiency about the English language. Teachers try to make full use of multimedia to create an authentic language teaching and learning environment where students can easily acquire a language naturally and effectively. However, through teaching assessment system, a platform through which students can anonymously evaluate teachers’ teaching on the web, some limitation and problems of multimedia technology in English teaching is explored. For example, PPT-oriented English class leading to knowledge overlapping and time-wasting; Teachers relying too much on multimedia; Improper design of courseware stimulating distraction; Lacking interaction between teachers and students. Only when the multimedia teaching in college English is reformed and improved, can the function of multimedia assisted teaching play its best role. Aiming to optimize the function of multimedia in college English teaching, both the problems and countermeasures of applying multimedia in college English teaching are studied elaborately in this paper, which provides a theoretical basis and new way of teaching practice for the situational teaching of foreign language..

The comprehensive and scientific evaluation of college English teaching in online mode is an important basis for further promoting and optimizing the pragmatic reform of college English teaching. Based on the operational principle, the principle of service to students, and the feasibility principle, this study aims to construct a multiple evaluation system of online college English teaching based on three aspects: online interaction, online autonomous learning, and English online practice. A questionnaire has been conducted among undergraduates, teachers, and experts. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been used to analyze the relative importance of the indicators at the first two levels in the multiple evaluation system. The results revealed that the weight coefficients of teacher-student interaction, learning resources, and English listening practice are higher, while those of learning freedom and oral English practice are lower. Therefore, the online college English teaching reform should take the following measures: equipment input of college English practice teaching should be reinforced, communication channels between teachers and students should be strengthened, and online teaching resources should be enriched.

The hot spots and topics in the information age are always inseparable from technological innovation. Wearable technology is becoming more and more popular, the scope of research is expanding, and innovations are constantly emerging, showing interdisciplinary and integrated features. This paper introduces the wearable technology in detail, and takes the college English teaching as an opportunity. Through the questionnaire survey of teachers and students, this paper analyzes the survey data. The results of the survey show that wearable technology can stimulate academic interest in college English. This research attempts to conduct interdisciplinary research on multi-modal semiotics and humanistic teaching methods in the following areas, which expands the scope of research and, to a certain extent, enhances the vitality of multi-modal discourse analysis.

Through literature review, this paper expounds the descriptive parameter framework of College English mixed teaching and the index framework of teachers' effective teaching behavior in College English mixed teaching and its influencing factors. Based on this, this paper studies the new "offline + online" teaching model of College English based on cloud computing. This paper verifies and enriches the framework established based on literature through pilot interviews. For the part of effective teaching behavior, this paper applies Delphi expert survey method to conduct two rounds of questionnaire consultation with 10 information-based foreign language teaching research experts, and forms the final effective teaching behavior questionnaire. The results of this study show that teachers' effective teaching behavior in College English teaching can be summarized into five factors. According to the explanatory power, the order from high to low is: online learning management, teacher support, organizing face-to-face classroom, diversified evaluation and personalized teaching. Therefore, the new "offline + online" teaching model of College English based on cloud computing can improve the efficiency of English teaching.

This paper aimed to develop Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) practices in online courses to enable teachers and students in China to employ TBLT appropriately and effectively. This research made a case study which was conducted as an online English class with a total of 28 undergraduate students at a university in Guangdong, China. The findings show that the transition from the traditional classroom to online education was successful. This innovative teaching mode promotes students to become the initiator of learning. Besides, the switched roles between students and teachers, advantages as well as problems of this approach have been pointed out. This case study could provide pedagogical implicatures for online English teaching and learning practically and theoretically, which helps to develop new forms that could assist teachers and students to adopt TBLT in class.

The current college English online teaching mode is mainly based on the traditional online MOOC teaching, which has some problems such as poor interaction. Under the mixed background, this paper studies the online college English teaching model based on the Gaussian mutation genetic algorithm and neural network algorithm. Firstly, it briefly introduces the general situation of network English teaching and the hybrid application of the Gaussian mutation genetic algorithm. Through the investigation and test analysis of students before and after class, the experiment evaluates students’ network teaching quality in many aspects. On this basis, a better teaching quality evaluation model is proposed. Finally, the practical application shows that the model in this paper is very feasible. In the end, students have higher enthusiasm and seriousness in the hybrid context of college English online teaching based on the dual algorithm. English teaching quality can make use of each student’s test scores in English classroom. This paper realizes the overall teaching through real-time dynamic tracking. Quantitative indicators are used to sort the influence degree of English classroom teaching indicators, which can effectively evaluate the quality of English classroom teaching.
