<strong> The contribution of a doable hospitality and engagement ethics in the ethical care of healthcare workers</strong> <br /> The authors of this study advocate for the contribution a double ethic of hospitality and engagement can make towards the ethical care of healthcare workers. Their contribution is based on two studies in healthcare. The South African case outlines challenges with regard to resources, communication and expectations. The Belgium case study draws attention to the traditional approach and suggests a new paradigm, namely to respect the patient as subject and therefore the importance of meeting the patient in his/her situation. Both cases sensitise the reader to the ethical vulnerability of the healthcare worker suggesting that a double ethic of hospitality and engagement is needed to address this challenge. The question of ethical coaching is addressed via a real life example in which the healthcare workers are placed in a simulation laboratory and then treated as “patients” by other healthcare workers. This simulation gives insight into the real needs of patients and how healthcare workers should care for them.

This chapter assesses the real-life case study of Iceland to illustrate some of the principles of open democracy. It closely examines the 2010–13 Icelandic constitutional process from which many of the ideas behind this book originally stem. Despite its apparent failure — the constitutional proposal has yet to be turned into law — the Icelandic constitutional process created a precedent for both new ways of writing a constitution and envisioning democracy. The process departed from representative, electoral democracy as we know it in the way it allowed citizens to set the agenda upstream of the process, write the constitutional proposal or at least causally affect it via online comments, and observe most of the steps involved. The chapter also shows that the procedure was not simply inclusive and democratic but also successful in one crucial respect — it produced a good constitutional proposal. This democratically written proposal indeed compares favorably to both the 1944 constitution it was meant to replace and competing proposals written by experts at about the same time.

The traditional approach to strategic management is an essentially rational approach. Present-day realities, however, are characterized by great uncertainty in the environment ('chaos'), making it difficult to achieve relatively stable strategic fit or organizational alignment in the longer term. The dilemma is one of a new paradigm or, will a more contemporary approach within the traditional framework suffice? The Miles and Snow strategic typology represents a case in point for the traditional approach. A comprehensive literature analysis of this approach suggests that the originally postulated framework still applies, even given today's change and uncertainty in the external environment. An empirical analysis of an integrated, and somewhat extended model of Miles and Snow was applied to the South African situation. It confirmed the Miles and Snow requirement for internal consistency but findings with regard to external fit proved inconclusive. South African organizations were found to have an internal and thus short-term focus, making them extremely vulnerable to global competition. The article concludes that strategy today should perhaps better be seen as an extention or redirection of conventional strategy into the realm of a more dynamic, flexible and adaptive approach to strategy, rather than as a total paradigm shift.

Following trauma, some individuals develop posttraumatic stress disorder, a serious condition requiring serious treatment. However, following trauma, most people also develop what is called posttraumatic growth (PTG). PTG entails a change of insight into the meaning of life and the importance of relationships. Session Ten invites clients to explore their deep feelings and thoughts about a traumatic experience that continues to bother them. The central positive psychotherapy practice covered in this session is Expressive Writing. The chapter provides a list of readings, videos, and websites that relate to Expressive Writing and offers a worksheet to practice the concepts learned in the chapter. The chapter also includes a real-life case study that illustrates how to engage in Expressive Writing.

 The socio-political fiction novel is generally realistic and gives an implicit picture of the social environment of a place. This type of reading is less popular because it is difficult to interpret and is also of less interest to readers than other literature. One of the works that can reflect this literary type is the novel entitled “Orang-Orang Proyek” by Ahmad Tohari, which represents the real condition of the Indonesian community under their politic and social circumstances. This paper tries to break down the literary work using the deconstructive-reading method to read a text with multi-interpretation understanding where the version contains many probabilities of meaning. This study will be able to provide insight into the correct reading method according to the purpose and type of literacy used in literary works.  Novel fiksi sosial-politik umumnya realistis dan memberikan gambaran implisit tentang lingkungan sosial suatu tempat. Jenis bacaan ini kurang populer karena sulit untuk ditafsirkan dan juga kurang menarik bagi pembaca daripada literatur lainnya. Salah satu karya yang dapat mencerminkan jenis sastra ini adalah novel berjudul “Orang-Orang Proyek” oleh Ahmad Tohari, yang mewakili kondisi nyata masyarakat Indonesia di bawah kondisi sosial dan politik mereka. Makalah ini mencoba untuk memecah karya sastra menggunakan metode membaca dekonstruktif untuk membaca teks dengan pemahaman multi-interpretasi di mana representasi mengandung banyak kemungkinan makna. Penelitian ini akan dapat memberikan wawasan tentang metode membaca yang benar sesuai dengan tujuan dan jenis literasi yang digunakan dalam karya sastra.
