Uneven quality of ore feed to a milling plant makes considerable difficulties in processing. The national and foreign experience, analytical calculations and special experiments prove that reduction in quality variation of crude ore fed for the processing leads to an essential increase in production efficiency, to improvement of final product quality and to simultaneous economy. The article describes the research findings on implementation of a two-level management digitization model for a mining and processing integrated works based on the simulation and mathematical model of production cycle processes. With regard to the developed procedure for description of process flows, an automatic process control system is proposed for the underground and surface mine infrastructure management using a single information and maintenance support. Considering actual background of Belaruskali mines and mills in terms of local automation of certain processing circuits, as well as based on the development and introduction of the concept of digitization of rating, modeling and prediction of process flow parameters for ore preparation, extraction and milling, using the modern methods and means of the mining and processing works management, it is possible to create an integrated automated on-line management system for all process flows. This system allows following-up of operation in any face and on any level in a mine, as well as any process stage at a milling factory and checking their compliance with the control criteria.

AbstractNutritional management of pigs to optimise growth demands pig-specific, time-specific and place-specific determination and provision of nutritional requirement. These elements need to be incorporated into response prediction models that operate in a real-time (not retrospective) closed-loop control environment. This implies appropriate means for the on-line measurement of response to change in nutrient provision, and the simultaneous means for manipulation of feeding level and feed quality. The paper describes how response prediction modelling and response measurement may now be achieved. Optimisation may be pursued with mixed objectives, including those of production efficiency and environmental protection.

Aluminium coatings that are formed by physical vapour deposition (PVD) on rolled steel products are more resistant to atmospheric and seawater corrosion than zinc coatings. We developed a coating thickness analyzer (CTA) with an X-ray fluorescence (XRF) measuring head, that is integrated into the PVD pilot line. In this study, to conduct measurements of elements with atomic numbers less than 20 while avoiding the problem of registration of light elements, the measuring head was integrated into a process vacuum chamber to maintain a vacuum during the measurements. To validate the proposed tool, cold-rolled steel strips of different grades are used as substrates, and aluminium was deposited on the surface via PVD in thicknesses ranging from 1 to 20 g/m2. The thin-film thickness measurements during a pre-acceptance test were found to have a relative accuracy of less than 5% and a relative precision of less than 1% – 2%. The proposed CTA can be readily integrated in the factory’s automatic process control system and the real-time measurements in operating and calibration modes, and the status of all spectrometric equipment (X-ray tube, detector etc.) can be transmitted to the upper-level computer. Thus, the process engineer can properly control the deposition process.

Pre-hardening plastic die steel can be directly processed into the mold, and it doesnt need quenching and tempering again, which avoids quenching deformation and ensures the size precision of the mold. On-line quenching of die steel can shorten the production cycle, and it has the advantage of energy saving. In the paper, a new on-line quenching device was introduced, and the temperature field calculation model of 3Cr2NiMo die steel was established. The cooling technology of three typical thickness steel plates was studied. The results provided the theoretical basis for die steel production.

A distributed on-line analyzing system has been developed for automatic multielemental analysis of mineral slurries and solutions. The elements to be measured should be heavier than potassium. The system consists of measuring probes, a communication loop and a minicomputer with its peripherals. The measuring probe may either be directly immersed into the process stream or it is used with a sample cell in a by-line stream. Measuring probes are located at separate positions in the process. The measurement is based on X-ray fluorescence radiation which is excited with a sealed radioisotope source. The radiation is detected with a sealed high resolution proportional counter without filters. Spectrum stripping is based on reference samples which are measured in a computer controlled sequence in the same geometry as the sample. Thus possible instabilities in gain and resolution are under control. Chemical assays and slurry density are calculated from fluorescence and backscatter intensities. The minicomputer also controls the probes in the system and gives reports.

Through analyzing the air and pulverized coal mixture flow characteristics of coal-fired boiler in power plant, it is put forward that measuring pulverized coal flow parameters is based on energy conservation theory and arrangement rule of measuring point location is for improving measurement precision. System for measuring temperature and velocity and concentration of air and pulverized coal mixture flow is developed, and some functions of on-line measuring air-pulverized coal mixture parameters are achieved. Adopting those efficient measuring methods are able to improve boiler operation’s safety and efficiency.

Recently, filling mining is becoming more and more important in the mining industry and has been used widely. In order to better control the process of paste filling mining and acquire the accurate amount of filling material used, and to reduce the waste of paste filling material, we should detect in real time the paste flow in the pipe during the process of filling. This paper introduces in detail the basic principle of ultrasonic detection technology and the hardware composition and working principle of the on-line detection system. The author uses the theory of unascertained error analysis of detecting data and implements ultrasonic detection technology to realize on-line detection of paste filling pipe flow.

The manufacturing of automotive body components in press lines is a sensitive process. The quality characteristics of body components vary. These fluctuations are rooted in the fact that the factors influencing the component quality are varying, e.g., fluctuations of batches regarding material quality, abrasion or heating of the tool during the production cycle. If a certain quality characteristic exceeds a predefined range an intervention in the process is necessary. This intervention is based upon the subjective know-how of the machine operator. Objective information about the state of the process, like tool temperature or the material quality of the semi-finished product is not available. Therefore, a lack of knowledge emerges in the interrelations between the tuning parameters of the system press-tool and the component quality during different stages of the process (material quality, temperature…). In this paper a complete concept for an automatic process control in press shops is described. The concept will be realized in a pilot plant for mass production in the press shop of AUDI AG. The mechanisms of occurrence of quality defects are shown in the paper, as well as the essential factors influencing the quality during the mass production of body components in the automotive industry and their variation. A sensor-system for continuous measurement of influencing variables during the mass production is presented. The key element of the concept is the non-destructive identification of material-properties for every single blank. By associating the sensor-data with the respective quality, a knowledge-based process control can be realized. The purpose is to create a failure prediction algorithm and make optimal adjustments for each stroke of the moulding press, respectively. The potential of existing actuators in modern press lines as well as new, tool integrated proposals for actuators are highlighted.

In a 7-week on-farm feeding trial rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were provided with a diet containing 28% mechanically de-fatted insect meal prepared from larvae of the black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens (HIM) and compared to a control that received a certified organic and fishmeal based diet. In the test diet insect meal replaced almost 50% of the fishmeal. The whole experiment was conducted under practical conditions on an organically certified rainbow trout farm in Switzerland. Fish of initially 66.5±2.3 g body weight were grown to 125±4.5 g and assessed for their growth performance, as well as analysed for their proximate composition, feed conversion ratio, fatty acid contents and organoleptic properties. Improved lipid utilisation and decreased protein utilisation were observed in fish fed the HIM diet. Furthermore, in a controlled degustation no differences except a slightly darker coloration of fish fed HIM were observed. The experiment demonstrated that substantial replacement of fishmeal by insect meal is possible without compromising growth, feed conversion and product quality. However, the decreased protein utilisation efficiency in HIM fed fish might lower production efficiency when applied over a whole production cycle and not only over 7 weeks.
