The article provides the results of studies to establish the environmental impact of the copper ore processing tailings storage facilities of PJSC Gaysky Mining and Processing Plant on the natural waters, as well as to estimate the value of the tailings if used as a technogenic raw material. The work was carried out using the results of the grainsize analysis and qualitative and quantitative assays of the copper ore processing tailings from the TSF of the concentrator, as well as the results of surface and ground water sampling in the area of the TSF. The grain-size analysis was carried out by the sieve method and used to classify the processing tailings into four size classes. The X-ray fluorescence analysis method was used to establish the composition of the tailings; the predominance of oxides of silicon, iron, sulfur, and aluminum was observed. Using an inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer and an atomic absorption spectrometer, the total contents of heavy metals and toxic elements were measured, as well as the gold and silver grades. The results obtained indicate that operation of the copper ore processing tailings storage facilities is associated with the washout of both valuable and hazardous chemical components with the infiltration waters into the groundwater. All chemical studies and assays were carried out at the Scientific and Educational Center for Shared Use of the St. Petersburg Mining University and the laboratory of the Process Research Department of JSC Mekhanobr Engineering.

Abstract The aim of this investigation was to characterize three samples of kaolin (DD1, DD2 and DD3) collected from Djebel Debbagh deposit (East of Algeria) to be used in electrical porcelain insulators. Grain-size analysis, X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and thermal analysis (TG-DTA) were performed. Each sample was mixed with feldspar and silica to obtain three porcelain formulations. The obtained results indicated that the three kaolins were composed by kaolinite and halloysite with variable contents of MnO and Fe2O3 as associated impurities. It was found that the DD1 was the appropriate kaolin as raw material for making the high-voltage electrical insulator which had the highest electrical and mechanical properties (dielectric strength, bending strength and bulk density), while DD2 and DD3 were less suitable due to their lower properties caused by the presence of impurities which must be removed.

Spinel-type electrode material Li4Ti5O12/CuO was synthesized by a two-step solid state reaction method. Cupric acetate (Cu(Ac)2) was used as raw material mixed into Li4Ti5O12 to coat the surface of Li4Ti5O12 with CuO in order to improve the electrochemical and cycle performances. The samples were characterized by XRD and the grain size analysis was researched by laser particle-size analyzer. The curves of charge/discharge and cycles Li4Ti5O12/CuO were researched. The results showed that the electrochemical properties of the material were improved. Among the three samples investigated, it was found that the Li4Ti5O12/CuO (coating amount was 4wt%) possesses the best electrochemical performance, and the first discharge specific capacity was 224, 173, 165 and 162mAh/g at 0.5C, 1C, 5C and 10C rate, respectively.

This paper presents the results of an industrial testing of the phase of rough flotation of copper ore from the deposit "North revir" in the Copper Mine Majdanpek. The achieved technological parameters in the rough flotation process, the results of grain size analysis by size classes of on the tested products, as well as the recovery and content of copper by size classes in the products of rough flotation show that the process of rough flotation does not work satisfactorily.

[Title: The Characteristic Comparison of Kasongan Clay and Godean Clay as Raw Material in Kasongan pottery Industry] Kasongan is the center of ceramics and pottery industry in Yogyakarta, located in Bangunjiwo village, Kasihan District, Bantul Regency. Nowadays, the ceramics and pottery industry is difficult to find the raw material because of the decrease of the Bangunjiwo clay deposit. Based on literature review, there are clay deposits found in Godean which can be observed their characteristics as basic commodity in the ceramics and pottery industry. The methods apllied in this research are XRD and XRF analysis, brightness analysis, grain size analysis and making pottery from those clays. The result of the research shows that the clay in Bangunjiwo consists of kaolinite and halloysite, while clay in Godean consists of kaolinite, halloysite and smectite. The pottery products made from those clays show different characteristics. The clay from Godean does not show bright red colour as the Kasongan clay. So the clay from Godean can not be used as the alternative raw material for the Kasongan pottery industry.

The article deals with the problems of development of large gold-copper ore deposits, which have prospects for the development of mining and processing complexes based on them, which produce refined metals as final products. The article substantiates the feasibility of using combined traditional and physical-chemical geotechnologies in the development of these deposits, including geotechnologies in mining, using innovative processes of activation of heap and underground leaching of copper, fine and dispersed gold from complex ores. At the initial stage of development of the large deposits of complex ores, in parallel with traditional schemes open-pit mining and ore processing at the processing plant, it is advisable to use the activation heap leaching of valuable components from poor and refractory ores and flotation tailings from ordinary and rich ore. At the second stage, when switching to the underground method of field development, it is proposed to use blockhole leaching with explosion-injection ore preparation with combination with it. The proposed schemes for combined development of complex gold-copper ore and copper-ore deposits with precious metal mineralization are based on data obtained during many years of experimental research and pilot tests.
