The article presents the results of an empirical study dealing with motivational preferences of children aged 7 to 11.The sample included 526 children studying at comprehensive schools of Moscow region. In order to examine the motivational preferences, a variation of the “Seven-colour flower” method was used. We conducted a comparative analysis of motivations characteristic for modern children and their peers of the Soviet era. It is shown that the motivational preferences of modern school students differ significantly in content, orientation and age dynamics from those of Soviet children of the same age. Modern children are distinguished by the prevalence of personal motivation associated with getting material welfare and self-development; their wishes for other people are mostly addressed to their close relatives. On the contrary, their Soviet peers’ dominating motivation was socially-oriented, with norms and values of their school class community as a priority. The age dynamics of the orientation of motivational preferences is not pronounced in today’s school students. The content and the general structure of motivational preferences revealed in this research reflects objective sociocultural conditions of growing-up in the post-industrial society as well as the change in priorities regulating the work of educational institutions.

We discuss the means and methods of public education in ethnic socialization of modern school students. We reveal the subject and objectives of ethnopedagogics, disclose the possibility of such means of public education as verbal actions (proverbs, songs, tales, legends, traditions), traditional folk games, folklore, customs, traditions, etc. We show that the positive experience gained by folk pedagogy is insufficiently used in modern practice of educational institutions. We emphasize that the transition to the new federal state educational standards of general education will create conditions for ethnic and cultural education of schoolchildren through the organization of extracurricular activities on the basis of national traditions and values of Russian and world culture. The analysis provides a basis for concluding that the it is necessary to allocate the value bases of the folk experience of children socialization, suitable for the present time, and the implementation of the best achievements of folk pedagogy in the practice of modern educational institutions.

A project for the long-term strategy of Russian break-through into post-industrial society is suggested which is directed at transformation of the hi-tech complex into the leading factor of economic development. The thesis is substantiated that there is an opportunity to realize such a strategy in case Russia shifts towards the mechanism of the monetary base growth generally accepted in developed countries: the Central Bank increases the quantity of "strong" money by means of purchasing state securities and allocates the increment of money in question according to budget priorities. At the same time for the realization of the said strategy it is necessary to partially restore savings lost during the hyperinflation period of 1992-1994 and default of 1998 and to secure development of the bank system as well as an increase of the volume of long-term credits on this base.

The problem of preserving the vision of younger generation is one of the most pressing issues not only in the field of health, but also in the field of education. This problem has become especially important in the context of intensification of modern school students' education. Unfortunately, over the past decades, there has been an increase in prevalence of visual impairment of children. Currently there is a special term — «school short-sightedness (Myopia) ". According to many researchers, vision problems begin from the moment the children enter school, and this alarming trend is being detected around the world today. The article presents the results of a survey of Moscow school teachers conducted in January 2020 in order to identify the level and content of their knowledge about visual disorders, awareness of issues of vision protection and methods of work with students, as well as the request for training in activities aimed at preventing and correcting visual disorders of students. 387 teachers from Moscow state schools (31educational complex from different administrative districts of Moscow) took part in the survey. The survey data obtained confirm that today in educational organizations the work on protection of children's vision is episodic, or is not carried out. The reasons for this are insufficient knowledge and lack of special training of teachers in issues of vision protectionof students. All of the above confirms the relevance of development of measures for activities in educational organizations for vision protection, dictates the need to develop both methodological support and educational training programs for teachers aimed at prevention and correction of visual disorders of students.

The phenomenon of social exclusion caused by transport exclusion is one of the main causes of social problems in peripheral areas, as well as a major organizational challenge for public service providers and all organizations operating in the areas where this problem occurs. Transport exclusion has a negative impact on the dynamics of socioeconomic processes and may interfere with sustainable development plans of stakeholders operating in a given area. The phenomenon is characterized by particular intensity in peripheral border localities with a low population density and outdated public transport system (established in the past to meet the needs of industrial society). The aim of this analysis is to present the basic principles of a conceptual model that combines the estimation of the scale of the transport exclusion phenomenon (in accordance with the specificity of peripheral border areas) with the idea of institutionalized carpooling based on effective information management. The usefulness of the said model underwent verification with respect to the possibility of estimating the scale of transport exclusion in peripheral border areas based on the example of the Polish–Slovak border area (Lesko Commune and Snina District). During the course of the research, factors characterizing the currently functioning public transport system were also indicated. They proved the system’s inadequacy for the challenges faced by the post-industrial society.
