This study aim was evaluated of flax genotypes regarding productivity, resistance to lodging and diseases as well as yield dependence relationships among phenotypic and quality traits. The 14 fibre flax genotypes were evaluated in field conditions on the background of natural infection from 2014 to 2018 for agronomically important traits and from 2015 to 2018 for occurrence diseases of flax. The data were recorded for the 15 following agronomic traits, such days to flowering, days to early yellow ripening stage, total plant height, technical height, stem yield, fibre content, 1000 seed weight, vessels per plant, harvest index, seed yield, oil content, resistance to lodging and fungal diseases during early yellow ripening stage. Genotypic and phenotypic correlations between yield and yield components were identified that total plant height, technical height and days to early yellow ripening stage played a major role on stem yield as well vessels per plant and harvest index on seed yield. The flax genotypes ‘Vilani’, ‘L26-1’, ‘K9-1’, ‘T36-1’, ‘S37-1’ exhibited significant highest stem yield ranging from 643.20 to 693.32 g m-2 and technical length ranging from 65.90 to 70.58 cm comparing to standard variety ‘Vega 2’. The most perspective genotype of ‘Vilani’ with quit low susceptibility to anthracnose, pasmo and powdery mildew and resistance to lodging was identified.

Quantitative data were collected and analysed on 10 metric characters from F1s and F2s of sixteen green gram (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) hybrids, developed from ten genetically diverse parents, to obtain information on variability, heritability, coheritability, and genotypic and phenotypic correlations. The increased genetic variability of F2 over F1 was observed for plant height, number of primary branches, pods/cluster, pods/plant, pod length and harvest index, suggesting the greater segregation and recombination of genes governing these characters. The high broad-sense heritability coupled with high genetic advance for plant height, days to 50% flowering and pod length in both F1s and F2s indicated the predominant role of additive gene action in their expression. The genotypic and phenotypic correlations between F1 and F2 were significant and positive for seven characters. The coheritability estimates between F1 and F2 had values of over 0.25 and were positive for six characters, but not for seed yield/plant, days to 50% flowering, clusters/plant or pods/plant. Within the F1 and F2 generations, seed yield/plant showed significant positive genotypic and phenotypic correlations with eight characters. The seed yield in green gram could be easily enhanced by practising selection on plant height, number of primary branches, pods/cluster, pod length and harvest index.

The comparative effect of 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8% Zn levels of zinc chelate (Zn-EDTA; 8% Zn) and zinc sulfate (23% Zn) applied as foliar sprays for assuaging zinc deficiency of chickpea cv. Gökçe was evaluated under field condition. The sprays were applied on the plants before blooming stage during 2012 and 2013 growing seasons and seed yield, yield components like plant height, pod number per plant, seed number per plant, hundred seed weight, harvest index and mineral concentrations (nitrogen, phosphorus, zinc and iron) in seeds were investigated. Plant height, pod number per plant, seed number per plant, hundred seed weight, harvest index and seed yield were investigated. The results showed that increased zinc doses caused an increase in Zn content of seed, while seed yield was not affected similarly. In general, plant height, pod number and seed number per plant increased by the application of zinc. Lower dose of Zn-EDTA and higher dose of ZnSO<sub>4</sub> gave higher yield components. Seed weight, harvest index and seed yield were not significantly influenced by Zn sources and doses; however, mineral concentration of seeds enhanced when Zn doses were increased. It was concluded that foliar application of zinc resulted in an increase in seed mineral contents rather than seed yield of chickpea. The dose of 0.6% with Zn-EDTA was the optimum combination for Zn enrichment in seed of chickpea.

The development of new high-yielding and stable sunflower hybrids based on interspecific hybridization requires information on the heterotic effects for agronomically important traits in the F, generation. Heterotic effects for seed yield, plant height and head diameter were studied in interspecific sunflower hybrids developed by the line x tester method. The female inbred lines were developed by interspecific hybridization, while the male restorer inbreds with good combining abilities were used as testers in the form of fertility restorers. F, hybrids were obtained by crossing each tester with each female inbred. The inbred lines and their F, hybrids differed significantly in their mean values of the traits under study. Heterosis values for seed yield per plant were positive and highly significant relative to both the parental mean (98.4-274.1%) and the better parent (54.8-223.2%). Significantly less heterosis was recorded in the case of plant height relative to parental mean (19.0-66.0%) and better parent (-3.9-51.6%). With head diameter, the heterotic effect ranged from 19.0 to 55.6% (parental mean) and from 7.8 to 36.6% (better parent). The results of this study may be used for the development of new high-yielding and stable sunflower hybrids based on interspecific hybridization.

Abstract The efficiency of a breeding program depends mainly on the direction of the correlation between yield and its components and the relative importance of each component involved in contributing to seed yield.Twenty one rapeseed genotypes were evaluated based on randomized complete block design with three replications. Significant genotypes effects were exhibited for phenological traits, plant height, yield components except pod length and seed yield, indicating significant genetic differences among the genotypes. High broad sense heritability were determined for phenological traits, plant height and seed yield demonstrating selection gain for improving these traits will be high. Pods on main axis and pods per plant had high value of genetic coefficient of variation and also were significant correlated with seed yield. The results of factor analysis exhibited three factors including first yield components (plant height, pods on main axis and seed yield), second yield components (pods per plant, seeds per pod and 1000-seed weight) and fixed capital factor (phenological traits). On the basis of cluster analysis, the genotypes were classified in three groups and the group with high seed yield had high mean values of plant height, days to maturity and pods per plant.

The present investigation consists of   26 genotypes of Chickpea including one check, which were grown in the Field Experimentation Centre of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, SHUATS, Prayagraj during Rabi 2020 following RBD with three replications. The data were recorded on 11 characters. Assessment of genetic variability, cause effect and interrelationship among yield components in chickpea. High significant variation was obtained for all characters studied. High GCV and PCV in chickpea germplasm were observed for Total no of pods per plant, number of effective pods per plant, biological yield, seed yield. High estimate of heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percent of mean was recorded for No. of primary branches, No. of secondary branches, Total no of pods per plant, No. of effective pods per plant, biological yield, Seed yield per plant, Harvest index, Seed index. High values for heritability indicates that it may be due to higher contribution of genotypic components. Traits exhibiting high heritability coupled with genetic advance as percent of mean suggest that the traits are governed by additive gene action, equal contribution of additive and non-additive gene action respectively. Correlation coefficient analysis revealed that seed yield per plant exhibited positive and significant association with Biological yield per plant, Harvest index and plant height at genotypic and phenotypic levels. Correlation coefficient analysis revealed that seed yield per plant exhibited positive and significant association with Biological yield per plant, Harvest index and plant height at genotypic and phenotypic levels. Path analysis revealed that characters plant height, number of primary branches, biological yield and harvest index have positive direct effect on seed yield per plant at genotypic and phenotypic level.

Line × tester analysis of twenty lines and three testers of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern & Coss.) cultivars were used to estimate general combining ability (GCA), specific combining ability (SCA) effects, high parent heterosis and narrow-sense heritability estimate for plant height, yield components and seed yield. Significant variance of line x tester for the traits like pods per plant and seed yield indicating non additive genetic effects have important role for controlling these traits. Significant mean squares of parents v/s crosses which are indicating significant average heterosis were also significant for all the traits except seeds per pod. High narrow-sense heritability estimates for all the traits except seeds per pod exhibited the prime importance of additive genetic effects for these traits except seeds per pod. Most of the crosses with negative SCA effect for plant height had at least one parent with significant negative or negative GCA effect for this trait. For most of the traits except pods per plant, the efficiency of high parent heterosis effect was more than SCA effect for determining superior cross combinations.

Environmental contamination and the excessive use of inorganic fertilizers resulting in stagnant yields of field crops which necessitate the utilization of combined fertilization approach under changing climatic conditions. Current study was aimed to clarify the influence of several fertilizer sources (chemical, organic, organomineral fertilizers) on yield and quality of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.). The results revealed that the fertilizer sources significantly affected the yield of coriander cultivars. The absence of “Year x Variety x Fertilizer Type” interactions for any of the noted parameters signaled that the detected “Variety x Fertilizer Type” interactions were constant regardless of the year factor. The recorded values of traits according to fertilizer sources different for the plant height from 61.85 to 69.67 cm, number of branches from 5.98 to 7.71 (piece/plant), number of umbels per the main umbel from 5.62 to 7.18 pieces, seed yield from 1.06 to 1.66 t/ha, the biological yield from 4.29 to 5.70 t ha−1, harvest index from 25.29 to 29.41%, essential oil ratio from 0.29 to 0.33%, and essential oil yield from 3.1 to 5.6 L ha−1. Erbaa variety was observed to be superior over the rest of the varieties producing the maximum values of 6.5 L ha−1 of essential oil, 0.36% essential oil content, 30.9% harvest index, 1.81 t/ha seed yield, and 5.9 t ha−1 biological yield with the treatment of chemical fertilizers.

A field experiment was carried out at University of Dhaka from March to July, 2011 to study the effect of time of sowing on the growth and yield of BARI mung-5. The treatments consisted of three dates of sowing viz. March 15, April 15 and May 15. The crop responded significantly to sowing time and 15 April sowing seeds produced plants having maximum plant height (68.4 cm), leaves/plant (29.33), total dry matter/plant (17.99), branches/plant (8.17), pods/plant (11.33), pod length (8.78 cm), seeds/pod (11.17), 1000 seed weight (46.52 g), seed yield/plant (5.33 g), yield/ha (1.77 t) and harvest index (29.58 %) at harvest. Results of correlation analysis indicated that seed yield in narbon bean (Vicia narbonensis L.) was correlated positively with harvest index, biological yield, weight, number of seed and number of pod per plant and also plant height and number of plant per m2. Path coefficient analyses revealed that harvest index and biological yield had higher positive direct effects on seed yield than other variables. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that 95.1% of total variation in seed yield could be explained by the variation in harvest index, biological yield and plant height. Results suggest that harvest index and biological yield are primary selection criteria for improving seed yield in narbon bean.

Indeterminate bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) lines derived from crosses between small-seeded indeterminate and large-seeded determinate genotypes were used for estimating the heritabilities and phenotypic correlations for seed yield and morphological traits. The F2 generation of six bean populations was planted at the Fortuna Substation, Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico in October 1984. Seed yield per plant, number of branches per plant, plant height, node number per plant, biological yield, and apparent harvest index were measured for 50 indeterminate plants selected at random from each population. Fifty plant rows of each population were planted in February 1985 at the Fortuna Substation, and in March 1985 on a small farm in the Constanza valley of the Dominican Republic. Narrow sense heritabilities were estimated with parent-offspring regressions of the F2 and F3 generations, and phenotypic correlations were estimated with means of the F3 lines. The indeterminate F3 lines had greater plant height and fewer nodes than their indeterminate parents. Biological yields, harvest indexes and number of branches of the F3 plants were generally equal to or less than those of their indeterminate parents. Greater branch and node number and greater plant height, biological yield, and harvest index were associated with greater seed yield. Narrow sense heritabilities (NSH) of morphological traits were generally low to intermediate. Since NSH of the morphological traits were no greater than NSH of seed yield, replicated advanced generation yield trials still appear to be the most effective approach for identifying large-seeded indeterminate bean lines with greater seed yield potential.
