Introduction: The esthetic disorders, such as skin laxity, localized fat and cellulite, arecommon complaints among the population in general. The physiotherapy providestechniques for treatment of these dysfunctions noninvasively. Objective: To review thephysical therapy techniques used to treat the body dysfunction aesthetic through aliterature review. Method: It was performed a literature review of studies publishedbetween September/1997 and October/2013, in Portuguese or English, in the Scielo,PEDro, Pubmed, Lilacs e Medline database. Results: A total of 1.165 articles were found.Of these, 37 were potentially eligible after reading the title and summary, and a total of11 studies were included. The studies addressed some techniques like radiofrequency, combination of bipolar radiofrequency, infrared, vacuum and mechanical massage(Velashape), ultrasound of high intensity focused, cellulite cream, mechanical massage, lymphatic drainage and tissue manipulation, ultrasound of low intensity, andcryolipolysis. Conclusion: We conclude that the physical therapy techniques areeffectives, safe and well tolerated by patients in the treatment of localized fat. They helpto sculpt the body and to reduce cellulite. However, it is necessary to performrandomized controlled trials, with larger sample size, since the majority of the includedstudies are prospective and retrospective clinical trials.

Introduction: The correct breathing process is through thenasal route, since it provides that the air during aspiration isfiltered, humidified and heated, thus conditioning the lungsfor gas exchange to occur. Allergic processes or other formsof affections can lead to the obstruction of the passage of airthrough the nose, leading the body to make an alternativeadaptation for the passage of air to occur through the mouth.A person who uses the mouth to breathe is called a mouthbreather. Once this adaptive process occurs, as a way tocompensate for this alternative airway, the body promotesa series of alterations in several segments of the body, such aschanges in the postural, respiratory, behavioral and stomatognathicsystems. Several techniques are used to treat themusculoskeletal dysfunctions presented by mouth breathers. Objective: to analyze how physiotherapy can contribute tothe improvement of the quality of life of mouth breathingchildren and to find out which are the most effective treatments. Methods: a search of data in the literature was carriedout by consulting the following electronic databases: Scielo,Bireme, Pub Med, Lilacs Google Scholar, as well as specializedbooks in the field. We excluded articles published before theyear 2000. Result: Among the analyzed articles, we perceivethat the treatment of mouth breathers occurs in a multidisciplinaryway, since it presents changes that encompassseveral body and systemic segments. Among the professionalsinvolved in the rehabilitation process, we highlight therole of physiotherapists. Conclusion: the physiotherapist isqualified to intervene in this pathology, with expertise inevaluation and establishment of the best treatment program, with physiotherapeutic conduits, allowing an improvementin respiratory patterns. Keywords: Mouth breathing children; Physiotherapy; Posturalevaluation; Treatment.

The article substantiates the physical therapy of men 30-40 years old with obesity of the second degree at the sanatorium stage. From today's point of view, obesity is recognized as a chronic disease that is complex, multifactorial and includes environmental (social and cultural), genetic, physiological, metabolic, behavioral, and psychological components. The disease most often occurs when overeating high-calorie foods containing fats and carbohydrates. Primary obesity, alimentary, is especially exacerbated by low physical activity. The tasks of therapeutic physical culture in obesity are: stimulation of metabolism in the body, activating redox processes and increasing energy consumption; weight loss; improving the function of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, musculoskeletal system; increasing the body's adaptation to exercise. Physical therapy programs include: change of eating style (correction to gradually develop a stereotype of healthy eating by optimizing calories and diet); increase of household and training physical activity (morning hygienic gymnastics, fitness yoga, cardio training, strength training, Nordic walking); corporate and auricular acupuncture (effects on biologically active points of the body and ears to suppress hunger and thirst, reduce discomfort during a period of limited nutrition, improve the functioning of internal organs affected by weight gain); improvement of psycho-emotional state (conducting autogenic trainings, psycho-emotional support); developing a conscious active attitude to the process of weight loss (explanatory talks on the complications of obesity, the peculiarities of weight loss, explaining the impact of physical rehabilitation); massage (lymphatic drainage, general, abdominal cavity) in order to accelerate the removal of excess fluid, recovery after exercise, improve the functioning of internal organs.

The aims of this paper is to explain the use of high heels as an agency for a woman's body. Agency context refers to pain in the body but pain is perceived as something positive. In this paper, the method used is a literature review by reviewing writings related to the use of high heels. The findings in this paper that women experience body image disturbance or anxiety because they feel themselves are not beautiful or not attractive. The use of high heels, makes women more attractive and more confident, on the other hand the use of high heels actually makes women feel pain and discomfort. However, for the achievement of beauty standards, women voluntarily allow their bodies to experience pain. However, the agency's willingness to beauty standards here is meaningless without filtering and directly accepted. Instead women keep negotiating with themselves so as to make a decision why use high heels.

Purpose: The use of technology (e.g., telehealth) in clinical settings has rapidly increased and its use in research settings continues to grow. The aim of this report is to provide detailed methods for conducting a multi-timepoint (test-retest) virtual paradigm, assessing lifestyle, physiological, cognitive, and linguistic factors in persons with and without aphasia. Methods: Procedures for virtual assessment are detailed in a sample of non-brain damaged adults (NB; N=24) and persons with aphasia (PWA; N=9) on a test-retest paradigm (data collection approximately 10 +/- 3 days apart). This report provides practical information about pre-assessment (e.g. recruitment, scheduling), assessment (e.g. aphasia-friendly consent presentation, investigator fidelity), and post-assessment (e.g. data storage, quality check) procedures for human behavior research using a virtual platform. Results: Preliminary study data is provided, demonstrating high retention rates and feasibility. Common technological troubles and solutions are discussed, and solutions offered. The results suggest that our pre-assessment, assessment, and post-assessment procedures were core to the success of our study. Conclusion: We provide practical methodology for conducting a multi-timepoint study, with considerations for persons with aphasia, adding to the body of research on telehealth in clinical populations. Future studies should continue to evaluate tele-methodology, which may be core for diversifying studies, improving study retention, and enrolling larger sample sizes.

Background: Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a chronic disease characterized by widespread body pain, weakness in certain parts of the body (critical points), low pain tolerance, sleep disturbances, and fatigue. This syndrome is considered rare in Jordan. Objectives: The research aimed to find out the association of the angiotensin converting enzyme, methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, and vitamin D receptor (ACE, MHFTR, and VDR, respectively) genotypes with FMS among Jordanian patients. Methods: This work included 22 FM patients and 22 healthy individuals of Jordanian Arabic origin. The ACE rs4646994, MTHFR rs1801133, and VDR rs2228570 genotypes were determined using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by restriction fragment length polymorphism. Results: No associations between ACE rs4646994, MTHFR rs1801133, and VDR rs2228570 with the vulnerability of a person for the development of FMS were found. However, we found an association between the ACE rs4646994 genotype and restless leg among FM patients. Conclusion: Based on result from this study, it appears that the ACE rs4646994 genotype is associated with restless leg among FMS patients of Jordanian origin. Further clinical investigations with larger sample sizes are required to confirm these findings and to understand the molecular mechanism of ACE rs4646994 genetic variant in the restless leg syndrome among FM patients.

Objective To assess the efficacy, acceptability, and tolerability of a vaginal cream based on plant extracts for treating signs and symptoms of vulvovaginitis (VV) (Zelesse cream®), either as monotherapy (non-infectious VV) or adjuvant to antimicrobial therapy (infectious VV). Methods This prospective, observational, multicenter study included women who attended outpatient offices for VV. The severity of signs (vaginal discharge, erythema, and edema) and symptoms (pruritus, burning, and dysuria) was assessed before and after 15±5 days of daily treatment with Zelesse cream on a 4-point scale (18-point global score). Results The study included 58 women aged 43.0±13.2 years, including 42 who were treated with Zelesse cream only and 16 who used Zelesse cream as adjuvant to antimicrobial therapy. All participants showed significantly reduced scores and absolute prevalence of individual signs and symptoms in both groups. Similarly, the median signs/symptoms decreased by 4.0 and 8.0 points in women using Zelesse only and those using Zelesse plus antimicrobial therapy, respectively. This product was well tolerated and had high acceptability. Conclusions Zelesse cream relieves signs and symptoms of VV, either as monotherapy in non-infectious VV or as adjuvant to antimicrobial therapy in infectious VV. Future randomized, placebo-controlled trials with larger sample sizes are warranted.

AbstractOxidative stress, associated with an imbalance between the oxidants (reactive oxygen species) and the antioxidants in the body, contributes to the development of many diseases. The body’s fight against reactive oxygen species is supported by antioxidants. Nowadays, there are too many analytical methods, but there is no one universal technique for assessing antioxidant properties. Moreover, the applied different ways of expressing the results lead to their incompatibility and unreasonable interpretation. The paper is a literature review concerning the most frequent ways of antioxidant activities expression and for an easy and universal method of the obtained results discussion. This paper is an attempt to point out their disadvantages and advantages. The manuscript can support the searching interpretation of the obtained results which will be a good tool for the development of a number of fields, especially medicine what can help in the future detection and treatment of many serious diseases.
