Nowadays, we are very conscious about our health because of how the covid-19 virus has changed our day-to-day life. IoT healthcare devices can be really helpful in this pandemic situation when we are all stuck in our homes. We have witnessed that IoT devices got very popular during this pandemic and the term ‘IoT’ also got really famous in the healthcare industry. If the hospital is far away from someone’s home, then using these portable monitoring devices one can keep track of their well-being. Health is the most important aspect for any individual, so in this paper, we propose a solution named the IoT-based Tetra Health Surveillance System (THSS) which helps us to monitor people who live by themselves or elderly people who want to continuously monitor their vitals due to underlying health conditions. Our proposed solution also displays the Temperature and Humidity, Blood pressure, Body Temperature, and SpO2/Blood Oxygen level at any given moment. This work will have a significant technical and commercial benefit because an individual can monitor all their vitals in one place and they don’t have to buy separate pieces of equipment to monitor each one of their vitals. This proposed device can be an all-in-one solution that is cost-effective and easy to use.

Mental health is critical to personal well-being, interpersonal relationships, and successful contributions to society. Mental health conditions consequently impose a high burden not only on individuals, families and society, but also on economies. In Jamaica, mental health conditions are highly prevalent and major contributors to morbidity, disability, and premature mortality. Encouragingly, with timely and effective treatment, individuals suffering from mental health conditions can lead productive and satisfying lives. This publication, the first of its kind, provides evidence and guidance to support the development, financing, and implementation of mental health interventions in Jamaica. Specifically, it estimates the return on investment (ROI) from scaling up treatment for anxiety, depression, and psychosis. The results from this analysis show that Jamaica can significantly reduce the health and economic burden of mental health conditions by investing in cost-effective recommended interventions designed to improve mental health.

AbstractEndothelin-1 (ET-1) is involved in the regulation of a myriad of processes highly relevant for physical and mental well-being; female and male health; in the modulation of senses, pain, stress reactions and drug sensitivity as well as healing processes, amongst others. Shifted ET-1 homeostasis may influence and predict the development and progression of suboptimal health conditions, metabolic impairments with cascading complications, ageing and related pathologies, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative pathologies, aggressive malignancies, modulating, therefore, individual outcomes of both non-communicable and infectious diseases such as COVID-19. This article provides an in-depth analysis of the involvement of ET-1 and related regulatory pathways in physiological and pathophysiological processes and estimates its capacity as a predictor of ageing and related pathologies, a sensor of lifestyle quality and progression of suboptimal health conditions to diseases for their targeted prevention and as a potent target for cost-effective treatments tailored to the person.

ABSTRACTThe term biosensors encompasses devices that have the potential to quantify physiological, immunological and behavioural responses of livestock and multiple animal species. Novel biosensing methodologies offer highly specialised monitoring devices for the specific measurement of individual and multiple parameters covering an animal’s physiology as well as monitoring of an animal’s environment. These devices are not only highly specific and sensitive for the parameters being analysed, but they are also reliable and easy to use, and can accelerate the monitoring process. Novel biosensors in livestock management provide significant benefits and applications in disease detection and isolation, health monitoring and detection of reproductive cycles, as well as monitoring physiological wellbeing of the animal via analysis of the animal’s environment. With the development of integrated systems and the Internet of Things, the continuously monitoring devices are expected to become affordable. The data generated from integrated livestock monitoring is anticipated to assist farmers and the agricultural industry to improve animal productivity in the future. The data is expected to reduce the impact of the livestock industry on the environment, while at the same time driving the new wave towards the improvements of viable farming techniques. This review focusses on the emerging technological advancements in monitoring of livestock health for detailed, precise information on productivity, as well as physiology and well-being. Biosensors will contribute to the 4th revolution in agriculture by incorporating innovative technologies into cost-effective diagnostic methods that can mitigate the potentially catastrophic effects of infectious outbreaks in farmed animals

Sykdomspulsen is a real time surveillance system developed by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) for One Health surveillance and the surveillance of other infectious diseases in humans like respiratory diseases and lately covid-19. The One Health surveillance comprise of Campylobacter data from humans and chicken farms and also includes diagnosis codes from doctor appointments and weather data with analysis forecasting outbreaks in Norway. It is a joint project between the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) and the Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI), under the framework of the OHEJP NOVA (Novel approaches for design and evaluation of cost-effective surveillance across the food chain) and MATRIX (Connecting dimensions in One-Health surveillance) projects. The system relies on two pillars, the first being an analytics infrastructure which in real time retrieves data from tens of sources, cleans and harmonizes it, then runs over half a million analyses each day and produces over 20 000 000 rows of results to be used every day. The analytics infrastructure is based on R. Results are notably being used by NIPH for the monitoring of covid-19 development and the surveillance of other transmittable diseases such as influenza and gastro-intestinal illness. The analytics framework also generates hundreds of reports every day, directed at dissemination to municipal health authorities. This framework is not currently publicly available, but an open-source release is expected by the end of 2021. The second pilar is an interactive R Shiny dashboard platform, which is used for communicating the data and the model results to partner organisations. It allows for the easy creation of a website where public and animal health researchers and food safety experts can view real time analyses. This dashboard combines the powerful data visualisation and analysis strength of R with the accessibility, flexibility, structure and interactivity of web-based platforms. The result is a real time interactive surveillance system, that is supported by a solid infrastructure and streamlined data flow, and shared with actors through a beautiful and user-friendly website, based entirely on R.

SUMMARYWe constructed a syndromic surveillance system to collect directly information on daily health conditions directly from local residents via the internet [web-based daily questionnaire for health surveillance system (WDQH SS)]. This paper considers the feasibility of the WDQH SS and its ability to detect epidemics. A verification study revealed that our system was an effective surveillance system. We then applied an improved WDQH SS as a measure against public health concerns at the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit meeting in 2008. While in operation at the Summit, our system reported a fever alert that was consistent with a herpangina epidemic. The highly mobile WDQH SS described in this study has three main advantages: the earlier detection of epidemics, compared to other surveillance systems; the ability to collect data even on weekends and holidays; and a rapid system set-up that can be completed within 3 days.

The principal objective of this research is to create a system that is quickly deployable, scalable, adaptable, and intelligent and provides cost-effective surveillance, both locally and globally. The intelligent surveillance system should be capable of rapid implementation to track (monitor) sensitive materials, i.e., radioactive or weapons stockpiles and person(s) within rooms, buildings, and/or areas in order to predict potential incidents proactively (versus reactively) through intelligence, locally and globally. The system will incorporate a combination of electronic systems that include commercial and modifiable off-the-shelf microcomputers to create a microcomputer cluster which acts as a mini supercomputer which leverages real-time data feed if a potential threat is present. Through programming, software, and intelligence (artificial intelligence, machine learning, and neural networks), the system should be capable of monitoring, tracking, and warning (communicating) the system observer operations (command and control) within a few minutes when sensitive materials are at potential risk for loss. The potential customer is government agencies looking to control sensitive materials and/or items in developing world markets intelligently, economically, and quickly.

Garbha is a conglomeration of biological mass with different strata including consciousness, needs an innovative clinical tool to evaluate its well being, which proves safe, potent, cost-effective and noninvasive. The idea of taking up this study was to sensitively predict the Prakrutavastha or well being w.r.t Garbha-pushti and ongoing Fetal Pathology, Vaikrutavastha w.s.r Garbhavyapads for a sharp interference to get a possible best neonatal outcome. The objective of this study was to calculate the predictive accuracy of evaluation of Garbhaspandanam on external Shabda and Sparsha Pareeksha. A Prospective Clinical study of Garbhaspandanam (FHS and FM) with external Shabda and Sparsha stimulation on maternal abdomen, from 24th week onwards was conducted in a cohort of 30 Singleton Pregnant women at Dept. of Prasuti Tantra and Stri Roga, S.D.M.C.A. Hospital, Udupi. Among the 9 cases in abnormal category, 2 cases had gone for IUD and one case though placed in abnormal category had responded relatively well to Shabda and Sparsha Pareeksha which may be due to the proper antenatal care and intervention given along with the patient’s Vatakara Nidana Parivarjana. Predictive Accuracy Rate on Shabda and Sparsha Pareeksha showed, FHS 70%, FM 76.7%; FHS 73.3%, FM 66.7% respectively. Shabda and Sparshapareeksha can be utilized as the Garbha - chetana - dyodakalakshana and can be performed as a routine antenatal bedside procedure, which can fairly detect the Prakruta and Vaikrutavastha of Garbha w.r.t Pushti. However larger prospective studies are required.
