This paper is dedicated to the comparative study of teaching cross-cultural communication in Kazakhstan. The project submits recommendation on further enhanced strategies that will help in the development of cross-cultural communication education in line with modern trends in curriculum issues. It concludes that for any meaningful advancement to be made in the education sector there must be a conscious, deliberate, purposeful, directional policy formulation of the implementation of the curriculum. The criteria of formation of critical thinking in students when teaching cross-cultural communication are considered here. Moreover, this paper analyses the problem of motivation of students to use information technology to search for specific information for the understanding of cross-cultural communication.    Keywords: Cultural education; cross-cultural communication; information technology; comparative study; intercultural comptence.

This article compares the original work of "The Republic of Wine" with Howard Goldblatt’s translation, and finds that Mr. Goldblatt strives to find a balance between fidelity and betrayal, and adopts more methods of transliteration and literal translation, which makes translation into a cross-cultural communication. Also, this article focuses on exploring the translator’s handling of culturally loaded words in the original work, and also provides new ideas and inspiration for Chinese-English translators. At the same time, “The Republic of Wine” is all-encompassing and contains a lot of metaphors; this paper analyzes the metaphor translation strategies in its English translation in order to provide some reference points for metaphor translation.

The Cross-Cultural Understanding of Metaphors in the Information Technology SphereThis paper analyses recent changes in cross-cultural communication concerning metaphor use and its functioning on the Internet, specifically in the information technology sphere.The paper outlines the academic literature and proposes a study that aims to evaluate users’ perception of IT metaphors. The study analyses reports and articles for IT users. The articles were profiled according to country and language, with a detailed analysis of English and Ukrainian examples. The paper reviews the relation between IT metaphors and their cognition, introducing a new conceptualization “A Computer as a Human Being”. The research seeks to provide evidence for the claim that understanding metaphors facilitates cross-cultural communication, whether universal or culturally-bounded.The results show the growing scale of the creation of new metaphors due to cross-cultural communication, especially in the IT sphere, and the importance of the cognitive functions of metaphors in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment. Międzykulturowe rozumienie metafor w sferze technologii informacyjnejAutorki analizują najnowsze zmiany w komunikacji międzykulturowej w zakresie użycia metafor oraz ich funkcjonowania w Internecie w zawężeniu do sfery technologii informacyjnych.Po przedstawieniu stanu badań zaproponowały analizy, których celem jest ocena postrzegania metafor informatycznych przez użytkowników. W badaniu przeanalizowano raporty i artykuły przeznaczone dla użytkowników IT. Autorki sprofilowały artykuły według kraju i języka. Następnie przeprowadziły szczegółową analizę przykładów angielskich i ukraińskich. Dokonały przeglądu relacji pomiędzy metaforami IT a ich poznaniem, wprowadzając nową konceptualizację: "Komputer jako istota ludzka". Przeprowadzone badania mają na celu dostarczenie dowodów na tezę, że rozumienie metafor ułatwia komunikację międzykulturową, zarówno uniwersalną, jak i ograniczoną kulturowo.Wyniki wskazują na rosnącą skalę tworzenia nowych metafor w wyniku komunikacji międzykulturowej, zwłaszcza w sferze IT, oraz na znaczenie funkcji poznawczych metafor w środowisku zróżnicowanym kulturowo i językowo.

As an important part of addressing forms, kinship terms are frequently used in our daily life. Both Chinese and English languages have their unique cultural background, which determines the significant differences between English and Chinese kinship systems. This paper first makes a comparative analysis and a systematic induction of the English and Chinese kinship terms, then reveal the causes that the differences between the two kinship systems result from, and finally attempts to explores three translation methods of Chinese and English kinship terms, which will attach much more significance to cross-cultural communication as well.

One belt, one road initiative, China needs comprehensive talents with international vision, international working background, international finance and international economic management. In order to improve college students’ intercultural communicative competence, China attaches importance to foreign cultural exchange and comprehensively improves the cultivation of foreign communicative competence. Students’ awareness of cross-cultural communication is weak and their communicative competence is lacking. In addition to enriching students’ cross-cultural communication ability, it is urgent to cultivate students’ comprehensive language competence. The rapid changes and development of economic globalization and information technology have promoted the frequent communication between different cultures. Such a development trend also puts forward higher requirements for the talent training of university teaching at this stage. The teaching of each university pays more attention to the application ability of language knowledge and the ability of international communication and communication in the future work and social communication. In the actual teaching process, due to the lack of practical communicative situations, most of the teaching still stay in the aspects of historical and cultural background, mode of thinking, pragmatic principles, values and social norms of different nationalities, and there are few opportunities to experience the coding and decoding in actual communication, and the related obstacles and misunderstandings in the process are even more difficult to understand. Therefore, cross-cultural practice should be placed on the same important position as the cognition of language and culture knowledge. Combined with the rapid development of network information technology, the creation of optimized teaching and practice integration paradigm has become the research and development trend of cultivating cross-cultural communication ability in today’s information society.
