Traditional educational programs have not resulted in vocational sophistication and employment success for disabled youth. For this reason, rehabilitation professionals must contribute to school programming designed to enhance the student's work personality. This article describes a series of employability assessment and intervention packages recently developed by the Arkansas Research and Training Center in Vocational Rehabilitation. Counselors can incorporate the employability products into transitional services in order to increase student social, vocational problem-solving and decision-making, on-the-job coping, and job seeking skills.

Vocational rehabilitation counselors (VRCs), by virtue of their professional responsibilities to facilitate the employment of individuals with disabilities, represent a logical resource for promoting knowledge of and compliance with the ADA in the employment arena. The purpose of the current study was to collect information that would be useful to VRCs in developing and implementing ADA advocacy, information dissemination, and training activities in the employment community. Seventy employers and employees from businesses representing major areas covered by the ADA were interviewed. The following research questions were explored: 1. What is the current level of knowledge about the ADA within the business community? 2. What preferences do business personnel have for learning more about the ADA and its implementation? Results indicated that nearly half of the respondents had not heard about the ADA and that business personnel had a variety of preferences regarding the provision of ADA information. The findings are discussed with regard to their implications for vocational rehabilitation counselors.

Seven vocational rehabilitation counselors individually administered a 37 item Employer Attitude Survey Questionnaire to 34 employers from large and 23 employers from small business establishments. The questionnaire covered: (a) attitudes of employers toward the employment of the handicapped, vocational rehabilitation, and vocational rehabilitation's efforts to secure employment for the handicapped; (b) employer expectations and preferences for vocational rehabilitation counselor placement and follow-up techniques; and, (c) types of information desired by employers when they consider a handicapped person for employment. Implications for pre-service and inservice education and training, placement, job development, client advocacy, and future research are discussed.

This study assesses the educational and training needs of state agency vocational rehabilitation counselors in Region IX. The Field Research Survey (FRS) was administered to a sample of 360 case-carrying counselors. Ninety-one and six-tenths percent (91.6 %) or 330 of the rehabilitation counselors adequately completed the FRS. The main findings of the study were: (1) 32.1.% of the rehabilitation counselors had completed some graduate training in rehabilitation; (2) 26.3 % were involved in form1tl continuing education; (3) 74.4% of the rehabilitation counselor's last work experience was in areas other than counseling; (4) training received over the past two years focused on administrative/agency structure and placement activities; and (5) perceived training needs focused on refinement in individual counseling techniques and placement.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of age on the vocational rehabilitation counselors' decision making process concerning feasibility of clients for services. Sixty-four vocational rehabilitation counselors, employed in two districts in the state of Florida, were selected to participate in the study. Four age continua were used and presented in eight vocational evaluation reports. Using a variation of the Latin square design to present the ages in sets of four cases for each treatment condition, counselors were then randomly assigned to a treatment condition. Age bias scores were analyzed using a t-test for dependent means and yielded a t = −1.164, d.f. = 55, P = .125. The null hypothesis was retained (p > .05). The results indicated that vocational rehabilitation counselors in this study were not significantly affected by the age of the client concerning the client's feasibility for acceptance for services.

Despite the high prevalence of suicide among people with disabilities, little research has explored suicide in the context of the vocational rehabilitation (VR) system. We analyzed the responses of 27 VR counselors who responded to an open-ended qualitative prompt regarding their experiences with suicide training and competency. Key themes included a desire for more training on suicide and the experience of seeking and receiving suicide training and experience outside of VR. Responses also underscored the heavy emotional impact of working with suicidal clients, especially when one feels unprepared to do so. These results suggest that it is important to provide VR counselors with resources and training for addressing suicide in their client populations.

Research shows that if clinicians are to deliver effective, evidence-based assistive technology for cognition (ATC) services to clients with acquired brain injury (ABI), they first need opportunities to gain knowledge and experience with ATC assessment and training practices (O'Neil-Pirozzi, Kendrick, Goldstein, & Glenn, 2004). This article describes three examples of train the trainer materials and programs to address this need: (a) a toolkit for trainers to learn more about assessing and training ATC; (b) a comprehensive, trans-disciplinary program for training staff to provide ATC services in a metropolitan area; and (c) an overview of an on-site/online training package for rehabilitation professionals working with individuals with ABI in remote locations.

Education and Training is a form of institutional intervention so that employees have competency standards so that they are able to carry out their duties properly and appropriately. This study discusses the improvement of teacher competency in the implementation of scientific publications through Training in the Workplace (DDTK) Classroom Action Research (PTK). DDTK aims to improve the technical competence of civil servants and non-civil servants of the ministry of religion according to their duties and positions and develop insight into employee duties related to new regulations / policies / provisions, new technologies, or new knowledge relevant to their main tasks and functions. The main objective of Classroom Action Research (CAR) is the improvement and improvement of learning services. The population and sample of this study were participants of the Madrasah teacher training in the Workplace (DDTK) in Bangka, Belitung, and East Belitung Regencies in the 2016 and 2017. The study used multiple regression using Adjusted Square. Calculations for this multiple regression using SPSS statistical version 16 software. From the results of the research, it was found that the average of DDTK Bangka District Classroom Action Research (PTK) 2016 and 2017 were 51.41, and the average DDTK Class Action Research substance (PTK) Belitung Regency in 2016 and 2017 amounted to 50.39, with a difference in mean scores of 1.02. The average understanding of madrasah teachers in Bangka Regency 2016 and 2017 PTK writing was 118.20, and the average madrasah teacher understanding in Belitung Regency PTK writing in 2016 and 2017 was 118.88, with a mean difference of 0.68. The regression coefficient of the Education and Training Center (DDTK) variable (X2) has a positive sign (0.074), which means that the Education and Training Center (DDTK) variable has a positive influence on teacher understanding. The hypothesis which states that there is an effect of the Workplace Education Training (DDTK) substance on Classroom Action Research (CAR) on the understanding of madrasah teachers in writing PTK is statistically proven. Keywords: Training at Workplace, Classroom Action Research, Teacher's Understanding

Aiming at the construction of the decision-making system for sports-assisted teaching and training, this article first gives a deep convolutional neural network model for sports-assisted teaching and training decision-making. Subsequently, In order to meet the needs of athletes to assist in physical exercise, a squat training robot is built using a self-developed modular flexible cable drive unit, and its control system is designed to assist athletes in squatting training in sports. First, the human squat training mechanism is analyzed, and the overall structure of the robot is determined; second, the robot force servo control strategy is designed, including the flexible cable traction force planning link, the lateral force compensation link and the establishment of a single flexible cable passive force controller; In order to verify the effect of robot training, a single flexible cable force control experiment and a man-machine squat training experiment were carried out. In the single flexible cable force control experiment, the suppression effect of excess force reached more than 50%. In the squat experiment under 200 N, the standard deviation of the system loading force is 7.52 N, and the dynamic accuracy is above 90.2%. Experimental results show that the robot has a reasonable configuration, small footprint, stable control system, high loading accuracy, and can assist in squat training in physical education.
