Background and PurposeWe aimed to translate the Comprehensive Score of Financial Toxicity (COST) questionnaire into Arabic and to evaluate its reliability and validity.MethodsWe applied the four-step translation method and conducted a pilot validation study over 179 medical oncology patients. Reliability was tested using the Cronbach alpha coefficient and test–retest stability. Validity was tested using the correlation with Functional assessment of Cancer Therapy-General score (FACT-G), factorial analysis and the content validity index.ResultsQuestionnaire showed high internal consistency and test retest reliability; Cronbach alpha coefficient was 0.77 and Pearson stability coefficient was 0.8. Convergent validity evaluation showed a statistically significant moderate correlation with the FACT-G (r = .42, p = .047). Content validly index was 0.93.ConclusionsThe Arabic version of COST questionnaire, was a valid and reliable tool that could be used in clinical practice by healthcare providers to evaluate financial toxicity in Arab speaking cancer patients.

OBJECTIVES: To assess the reliability and validity of the Brazilian version of the Attentional Function Index. METHOD: Methodological study. The sample was made up of 138 students from an undergraduate nursing course. The psychometric properties were assessed through the convergent construct validity, using the Brazilian version of the Attentional Function Index and the Portuguese-language version of the Profile of Mood States instrument, while the reliability was measured by its internal consistency, expressed by the Cronbach Alpha Coefficient. RESULTS: The Cronbach Alpha Coefficient was 0.86 for the total score, and varied from 0.64 to 0.86 in the three subscales. A strong significant negative correlation (r=-0.64; p<0.0001) was obtained for the convergent validity. CONCLUSION: The Brazilian version of the Attentional Function Index resulted in satisfactory levels of validity and reliability, demonstrating its viability for use in practice and in undertaking further research.

Abstract Background Advances in technology and the expansion of nursing roles have led to complex ethical issues in nursing. Nursing students are the future clinical nursing workers and practitioners. The ethical sensitivity of nursing students is very important to the professional development of nursing students, which can strengthen the ethical cognition of nursing students, improve the ethical decision-making ability of nursing students, and is beneficial to the development of nursing students in the process of clinical practice and nursing education. However, there are no instruments to evaluate the ethical sensitivity of nursing students in China. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Chinese version of the Ethical Sensitivity Questionnaire for Nursing Students (ESQ-NS). Methods After obtaining the authorization of the author of the original scale, the study used the Brislin back-translation method for translation. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were performed to examine the underlying factor structure of the translated questionnaire. The Cronbach alpha coefficient, the test-retest reliability, and the corrected item-total correlation were calculated to verify the internal consistency of the scale. Results The Chinese version of ESQ-NS retained 13 items. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) extracts four common factors, and the cumulative variance contribution rate is 62.479%. The CFA reached the adaptive standard, and the discriminant validity of the scale was good. The Cronbach alpha coefficient of this scale was 0.821, and 4 dimensions were between 0.708 and 0.738. The results of the test-retest showed that Pearson’s correlation coefficient of the overall ESQ-NS was 0.814. Corrected item-total correlation ranged from 0.337 to 0.542. Conclusions The Chinese version of the ESQ-NS has good reliability and validity, which can be used to evaluate the level of ethical sensitivity of nursing students in China.

Smart garment system is efficient for upper body movement monitoring during simple tasks. There is a lack of literature on smart textile garments being reliable for shoulder girdle motion assessment in advanced motor tasks such as high string performance. The aim of the article was to examine the reliability of the DAid Smart Shirt for Shoulder Girdle Motion Assessment during advanced motor tasks such as high string performance. Methods: 14 volunteer violinists aged 18.6 (SD 2.1) with a body mass index 20.05 (SD 2.3) were recruited. The violinists performed a legato bowing task. The DAid smart shirt worked as the assessment tool: a compression garment with textile strain sensors sewn onto it. Cronbach alpha coefficient, Interclass Correlation Coefficient were calculated to assess the within-session test-retest reliability. Results: An excellent and good result test-retest reliability was assessed in 57% of the violinists, for other 43%, the ICC and Cronbach alpha coefficient was less than 0.59. Conclusion: the DAid Smart shirt is reliable for shoulder girdle motion assessment during high string performance. The smart textile garment should be customized and suitable for the body in order to assess shoulder girdle motion during high level or advanced activities such as high string performance.

Abstract Objectives To examine the validity and reliability of the Mandarin version of the Treatment Burden Questionnaire (TBQ) among stroke patients. Background Stroke patients need long-term management of symptoms and life situation, and treatment burden has recently emerged as a new concept that can influence the health outcomes during the rehabilitation process. Methods The convenience sampling method was used to recruit 187 cases of stroke patients in a tertiary grade hospital in Tianjin for a formal investigation. Item analysis, reliability and validity tests were carried out. The reliability test included internal consistency and test–retest reliability. And as well as content, structure and convergent validity were performed for the validity test. Results Of the 187 completed questionnaires, only 180 (96.3%) were suitable for analysis. According to the experts’ evaluation, the I-CVI of each item was from 0.833 to 1.000, and the S-CVI was 0.967. The exploratory factor analysis yielded three-factor components with a cumulative variation of 53.054%. Convergent validity was demonstrated using measures of Morisky’s Medication Adherence Scale 8 (r = –0.450, P < 0.01). All correlations between items and global scores ranged from 0.403 to 0.638. Internal consistency reliability and test–retest reliability were found to be acceptable, as indicated by a Cronbach’s α of 0.824 and an intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.846, respectively. Conclusions The Mandarin TBQ had acceptable validity and reliability. The use of TBQ in the assessment of treatment burden of stroke survivor may benefit health resources allocation and provide tailor therapeutic interventions to construct minimally disruptive care.

A kérdőív skáláinak belső megbízhatósága megfelelőnek bizonyult (Cronbach α: 0,76–0,86). Az időbeli stabilitás vizsgálata során pozitív erős kapcsolatot találtunk a teszt-reteszt között [Kimerültség – r(121) = 0,92, p < 0,001; Leértékelés – r(123) = 0,90, p < 0,001; Teljesítmény csökkenése – r(123) = 0,60, p < 0,001]. A konvergens validitás vizsgálata során a korábbi kutatásokkal megegyező, gyenge-közepes korrelációkat kaptunk (r = –0,20–0,52) a sportolói kiégés három skálája és a sportmotiváció típusai, az észlelt edzői autonómiatámogatás mértéke és a perfekcionizmus formái között.Következtetések:A kérdőív magyarra fordított változata pszichometriailag megfelelő mérőeszköznek tekinthető, kiváltképp serdülők körében alkalmazva. Background and aims:The goal of this study is to investigate the psychometric characteristics of the Hungarian version of the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ, Raedeke and Smith, 2001) and examinate the reliability and validity of this questionnaire.Methods:1317 athletes were involved in this study (mean age = 20,45; SD = 4,39; men = 649; women = 669). Beside the above mentioned questionnaire (ABQ-H), the Sport Climate Questionnaire (SCQ-H; Deci, 2001; Kovács, Gyömbér, F. Földi, & Lénárt, in press), the Sport Motivation Scale -2 (SMS-2; Smohai et al, 2019) and the Short Almost Perfect Scale (Reinhardt, Tóth and Rice, 2019) were applied for the validation. Results:The confi rmatory factor analysis showed consistency with the original structure. We found three, separated factors: reduced sense of accomplishment; emotional and physical exhaustion and devaluation. Internal consistency of the subscales (Cronbach-α: 0,76 – 0,86) proved to be adequate. Correlation coeffi cient for test-retest reliability was ranging from 0,60 to 0,92 (Exhaustion – r(121) = 0,92, p < 0.001; Devaluation – r(123) = 0,90, p < 0,001; Reduced sense of accomplishment - r(123) = 0,60, p < 0,001). Examination of convergent validity revealed small relationships (r = -0,20 – 0,52) – as it was found in the literature too – among the three scales of athletic burnout, the types of sportmotivation, the level of the perceived autonomy support from coach and the forms of perfectionism.Discussion:The Hungarian version of the ABQ seems to be a valid and reliable questionnaire to measure, among adolescent athletes particularly.

PURPOSE The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Core Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30) is a well-validated instrument that assesses health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in cancer patients. It is used in cancer clinical trials in Europe, Canada, and the United States, and has demonstrated high reliability and validity in different groups of cancer patients. Despite thorough testing of reliability and validity, we have not identified any reports on its test/retest reliability; thus, a test/retest study was performed at the Norwegian Radium Hospital (NRH). MATERIALS AND METHODS Cancer patients from the outpatient clinic who were off treatment for > or = 3 months were eligible for the study. The EORTC QLQ-C30 was given to the patients when they presented for their visit. The second questionnaire was received by the patients 4 days later. Of 291 eligible patients, 270 (93%) agreed to participate and 190 (73%) completed both questionnaires. RESULTS The test/retest reliability measured by Pearson's correlation coefficient was high for all functional scales, with a range from .82 for cognitive and role function to .91 for physical function. The r value for global HRQOL was .85. For the symptom scales--nausea/vomiting, fatigue, and pain--the coefficients were .63, .83, and .86, respectively. The single-item coefficients ranged from .72 for diarrhea to .84 for financial impact. The Spearman rank correlation was in the same range for all dimensions. CONCLUSION The EORTC QLQ-C30 seems to yield high test/retest reliability in patients with various cancer diagnoses whose condition is not expected to change during the time of measurement.

The aim of this study was to develop and validate a questionnaire that measures the effectiveness of communication during organisational change interventions. A draft questionnaire was completed by a sample of convenience comprising 521 participants. The questionnaire contained 109 items in question format with a Likert-type response scale anchored at the extreme ends. The data was factor analysed and an iterative item analysis was executed. The results yielded a single scale with a Cronbach Alpha coefficient of 0,99. It is concluded, therefore, that the conceptualised domain of “communicating-for-change"? could be measured successfully through the use of the instrument developed in this study.

Objective: The primary aims of the study were to examine the reliability and validity of the Health of the Nation Outcome Scales for Children and Adolescents (HoNOSCA) in a sample of adolescents requiring medium to long-term in-patient psychiatric treatment and to examine the association between HoNOSCA scores and age, gender and length of treatment. Methods: A multidisciplinary team completed the HoNOSCA for 51 adolescent patients at intake and at 3- and 6-months following admission to the unit. Results: The study provided support for the test-retest reliability, concurrent and convergent validity, but not the internal reliability, of the HoNOSCA. Total HoNOSCA scores at intake were similar to those found in adolescent outpatient samples, although there were some differences at the level of individual items. Similarly, while the total HoNOSCA score showed some sensitivity to change, using the total HoNOSCA score obscured important changes in specific domains of functioning over the course of admission. Conclusion: The HoNOSCA was found to be a valid measure of global functioning at intake, thereby supporting its use in an adolescent psychiatric unit. However, focusing on individual items, rather than total score, appears more useful in evaluating the impact of inpatient psychiatric treatment on adolescents.
