A growing trend in the hospitality industry is the promotion of products and services on social networks as an effective and economical way to reach a very important population mass with a bidirectional speech. The aim of this paper is to explore the processes used by Spanish restaurants in two ways: 1) adding to the portfolio of services offered and 2) for the recruitment of staff. Business models of social shopping can be divided largely into three categories: 1) social shopping intermediaries, 2) social shopping markets, and 3) social shopping search engines. It is observed that more and more Spanish restaurants use social shopping to attract their target audience, but this is not very long term. Therefore, a change in the Spanish restaurants model is observed as the customer loyalty decreases and the online business increases. Understanding the key issues will be crucial in maintaining the competitiveness of the business of catering in Spain.

This chapter identifies some game-theoretic insights concerning several key issues of business ethics typically occurring in emerging economies. The chapter explicates four elements in this sequence: nature of game theory, characteristics of emerging economies, fundamentals of business ethics, and key business ethics issues. The chapter emphasizes useful insights of game theory rather than undertaking formal modeling (examples are noted in references). Game theory assists reasoning about strategic scenarios for businesses. A multinational entity operates within layers of institutions and norms from the international to the national and sub-national levels. Such institutions and norms help structure the complex environment within which a multinational entity operates. The approach in this chapter is to inquire into certain specific decision scenarios available in the extant literature as instances of important classes of decision problems and to suggest game-theoretic responses. These scenarios concern long-term sustainable business models, corporate values, and corporate reputation.

Offshore outsourcing of work to support software development and services is seen primarily as a transfer of labor to another shore. But with every outsourced job, intellectual property is transferred as well. Such transfers have significant long term effects on the balance of intellectual property (IP) generation and consumption. The value of intangibles is based on the income that these intangibles are expected to generate in the future. This paper relates the key issues of IP found in software, an important intangible, to business models used for offshoring. The use of a quantitative model for software valuation allows formal exploration of business alternatives. The motivation for this paper is to increase the awareness of the need for software valuation when developers of software and the users of that software reside in different countries. A scenario that involves Controlled Foreign Corporations as the mechanism for IP transfer is analyzed in detail.

To keep the customer loyal, today relationship marketing gets more and more attention in hospitality industry especially in the hotel business. This article develops a model of relationship marketing to empirically investigate: (1) the effect of emotions on relationship quality; and (2) and the effect of both relationship quality and emotions on customer loyalty. Here empirical findings are derived from a survey of 284 loyal guests at five-star hotels in Bangladesh by using structural equation modeling (AMOS 21.0). The findings of this article provide strong evidence of the relationship between emotions and relationship quality, which in turn are necessary determinants of customer loyalty. Findings imply that increase of the positive emotions of customers will increase the relationship quality between the hoteliers and the customers, which ultimately introduce more loyal customers in the five-star hotels in Bangladesh and make the hotels pursuit more competitive advantage, and long-term profit.

This work is aimed at analyzing potential links between reverse logistics and urban logistics and describing opportunities for collaboration between both areas of research. A description of the current state-of-the-art is provided in order to highlight the main challenges faced by both disciplines. For example, regarding reverse logistics, new recovery options, marketing strategies for recovered products, and legislation issues on the return of products in specific contexts; in regards to urban logistics, long-term planning, stakeholders’ engagement, information management, efficiency, reliability and safety, and new business models are some of such key challenges. Despite the growing interest shown in both logistics areas and their relevance for companies and consumers, reverse logistics and urban logistics are two concepts that are still somewhat unknown and, above all, treated as being relatively separated. However, there exist some aspects where the two disciplines converge and that may represent opportunities for collaboration, for example, the proper treatment and management of urban waste, and the efficient management of commercial refunds and returns. In addition, other key issues, such as land use, city typology, infrastructures, and stakeholders’ engagement should be further analyzed in order to keep advancing in the description of links between both areas.
