The intellectual tradition of Islam evolved through three periods of classical times, medieval times and modern times. These three ages have different characteristics and methods of developing Islamic intellectual traditions, although the classical period has a strong influence on the development of Islamic intellectual traditions in later ages. This paper is put forward as an attempt to provide a proper understanding and meaning, how Islam is an integral part of the intellectual development of Muslims better known as Islamic intellectual traditions and is still going on today especially in Indonesia. Seeks to describe and demonstrate Islam has an important role in building an intellectual tradition that begins through teaching in cottages and / or boarding schools. The method put forward in this paper is descriptive method with analytical approach. The classical age contributes to the development of intellectuality by placing a growing method of teaching and education practiced from the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW methods of writing, writing and rote. The Middle Ages contributed to the emergence of institutions that helped and expanded the Islamic intellectual tradition. Modern era is a struggle of Indonesian Islamic intellectual tradition, which gave birth to two groups of young people and the elderly. The article explores the Mediterranean influences on Polish cuisine in the centuries that followed the adoption of Christianity at the end of the 10th cen­tury. This memorable act brought Poland into the circle of Western culture anchored in the Greco-Roman tradition, which also heavily impacted the eve­ryday life of representatives of all strata of Polish society. The author draws attention to the variety of such contact, which includes the journeys of cler­gymen, diplomatic missions, and trips of young people to universities. Trade and economic exchange, as well as the activity of Italian merchants and crafts­men on the Vistula, also had a strong bearing on the refashioning of the culi­nary culture. The breakthrough moment was the arrival in Krakow in 1518 of Bona Sforza—who became the wife of the Polish king Sigismund I—and her many courtiers.

Abstract Knowledge of avoidable exposures to noncommunicable diseases from the analysis of health behaviors or practices, and of attitudes and care related to lifestyle is an important strategy in identifying issues emerging to health and opportunities for the prevention of these problems. It was intended to analyze the combination of behaviors related to health, food and lifestyle, identify behavioral patterns and verify the inequalities present in its association with sociodemographic characteristics of the population of Campinas, São Paulo. This is a cross-sectional study conducted in 2014/15 that evaluated 1,205 people aged 20 years or older. From the behaviors regular consumption of raw and cooked vegetables, fruit and beans, consumption of low-fat milk, concern with salt intake, habit of reading food label, concern with the use of pesticides, consumption of organic foods, practice of leisure-time physical activity, consumption of meat with fat, frequent consumption of sausages and soft drinks, current smoking, alcohol abuse and short sleep duration were extracted through analysis factorial by main components. The association of these patterns with the variables gender, age and income were tested. Three lifestyle patterns were identified and nomined. The 'Healthy Advanced' lifestyle pattern was associated with females, the elderly and the best income groups can be identified; the 'Healthy Prudent' was associated with older adults, with the elderly and with the intermediate income segment. The 'Unhealthy' pattern was associated with males, with young people and did not have an association with income. It can be concluded that healthy lifestyle patterns were more present in female groups, with older age and better income level. The less healthy pattern was found more frequently among men and young people. It is noteworthy that this last pattern did not differ between income strata indicating that unhealthy practices may be equally disseminated in these groups. Key messages The better lifestyle patterns were more present in female groups, with older age and better income level. The less healthy pattern was found more frequently among men and young people, and did not differ between income strata.

Elder people have knowledge and experience – they can share them with other people. Seniors can teach young people different things. Their stories can indicate what is important in life and what should be avoided. The article presents the results of qualitative research (interview) on the lessons learned from the life experiences of the older people. The analysis of own research is preceded by the theoretical introduction about wisdom of life. Respondents highlighted mostly the importance of family, health, self-care and relationships with other people (friendship, honesty and respect towards others). Life showed them how important are: faith in God, enjoying every moment, patience in pursuing a goal, independently deciding about own life, realising your dreams, and work. Life experiences showed them how to deal with problems and that a person learns all life. They learned rules such as: money does not bring happiness, you cannot trust everyone, live the present and the good comes back. The elderly said that a person should make efforts to be happy.

True, it often attains more than it hopes or even knows; but it attains the larger result through the accomplishment of the immediate purpose. The internal struggles are those that cost, with nations as with men; and it is no small part of the greatness of England that she has been able to see and strong to resist those dangers which, rising from within, have threatened to overthrow that stability which outward foes have in vain assailed. In that century which marked the close of the middle ages and the beginning of the modern era, England was busy taking cities and ruling her own spirit, and only the wise knew which was the better.

The main theme of the article is investigation of the electoral culture in the European political and legal thought. Authors argue the ancient sources of this tradition tracing it from the three sources — Roman, German and Christian political thoughts. During the Middle Ages European legal concepts of the supreme power’s nature oscillated between hereditary and election as a foundation of the supreme power. Only on the edge of the Middle Ages and the Modern Era monarchy became strait hereditary. The idea of election did not disappear, remains the core ingridient of the image of power’s legitimacy.

AbstractIntroduction: With the intensive growth in the number of older people and prolonged life span in the contemporary postmodern society, it has become increasingly important to build positive intergenerational cooperation and promote education on aging and older people, especially between younger and older generations. That is why the authors, on the basis of empirical research and scientific literature, examined knowledge about aging among young people and the connection between knowledge about aging and the formation of negative attitudes towards older people.Methods: The study involved 609 secondary school students aged 15 to 19 years.Results: The survey results showed that only one-fifth of the young population has good knowledge about aging. The relationship between knowledge about aging and ageism is negative, which means that young people with less knowledge about aging often have a negative attitude towards older people.Conclusions: Based on the obtained results, the authors underline the importance of integrating gerontology content in all stages of education.

Background Working memory updating (WMU), a controlled process to continuously adapt to the changing task demand and environment, is crucial for cognitive executive function. Although previous studies have shown that the elderly were more susceptible to cognitive interference than the youngsters, the picture of age-related deterioration of WMU is incomplete due to lack of study on people at their middle ages. Thus, the present study investigated the impact of age on the WMU among adults by a cross-sectional design to verify whether inefficiency interference control accounts for the aging of WMU. Methods In total, 112 healthy adults were recruited for this study; 28 old adults (21 female) ranging from 60 to 78 years of age; 28 middle-age adults (25 female) ranging from 45 to 59 years of age; 28 adults (11 female) ranging from 26 to 44 years of age; and 28 young adults (26 female) ranging from 18 to 25 years of age. Each participant completed a 1-back task. The inverse efficiency score was calculated in various sequences of three trials in a row to quantify the performance of WMU for adults of various ages. Results Inverse efficiency score of both young groups (young adult and adult) were significantly shorter than the old group in both Repeat-Alternate (RA, including □□○ and ○○□) and Alternate-Alternate (AA, including ○□○ and □○□) sequential patterns and they were additionally better than the middle-age group in AA sequential pattern. Conclusion With the increase of difficulty in the task, the difference in reactive interference control between young and middle age was gradually revealed, while the difference between young and old remained to apparent. The degradation of WMU aging may begin from middle-age and presents selective impairment in that only reactive interference control, but not proactive interference control, shows pronounced age-related decline. The preliminary results can inform future studies to further explore the whole lifespan trajectories of cognitive functions.

The article outlines the psychological features of the age period, which is determined by the scientific category as an “adolescent crisis”. The problem of the adolescent crisis has been revealed in people with intellectual disabilities. The importance and relevance of the study is revealed first, due to the difficulties of adolescence: its dynamism, ambiguity, lack of emotional stability of the individual; secondly, due to the specifics of personality formation with intellectual disabilities; thirdly, the need to further develop effective psychological support for adolescents with intellectual disabilities. The aim of the article was to study and experimentally test the specifics of the emotional crisis of adolescence in people with intellectual disabilities. The purpose was provided by solving the following tasks: stating the peculiarities of the adolescent crisis in people with intellectual disabilities; determining the state of formation of “I-concept” and “self-image” of adolescents with intellectual disabilities; establishing the specifics of behavioral reactions and interaction of the adolescent with others (peers, the elderly) in conditions of experiencing an age crisis. Moreover, the author conducted a psychological testing procedure to study the peculiarities of the formation of the personality of a teenager with intellectual disabilities during the age crisis (adolescent crisis). M. Kuhn’s psychological testing method “Who am I?”, T. Leary’s method of diagnostics of interpersonal relations were used; conversations, observations. The purpose of using these techniques was to determine the self-image, self-presentation, self-perception and self-esteem of adolescents with intellectual disabilities. According to the results of the study, it was found that adolescents with intellectual disabilities have a process of self-knowledge and understanding of their own “I”, internal mental acts and states are underdeveloped or absent. This complicates the process of experiencing an adolescent’s crisis. As evidenced by the low level of recognition and differentiation of emotions, emotional awareness, management of their own emotions. Also critical are difficulties with the adequate expression of emotions in accordance with the situation that determines them, in particular with the manifestation and control of anger, rage, aggression and other. The further directions of research of formation of the person with infringements of intellectual development in adolescent age are outlined.

The COVID-19 vaccination aims to reduce the transmission of COVID-19, reduce morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19, achieve herd immunity, and protect the community from COVID-19 to remain socially and economically productive. UPTD Puskesmas Bogor Tengah has entered the Covid-19 vaccine service targeting the elderly from March 30 to April 10, 2021, but the coverage is still low. Coordination with cross-sectors, RT, and RW administrators has been carried out and the result is that there are no more elderly people in the area who are willing to be vaccinated. The purpose of this study was to know the effectiveness of the knock the door strategy in increasing the achievement of Covid 19 vaccination for the elderly at UPTD Puskesmas Bogor Tengah. The method used is the descriptive method. This study was used to interview and documentation for data collection. Data analysis using qualitative analysis. The results of the study showed an increase in achievement from previously no more elderly people who were willing to be vaccinated, after conducted a knock the door strategy the achievement increased. It can be concluded that efforts to increase the coverage of the Covid 19 vaccine for the elderly require a special communication strategy and approach because the elderly have different characteristics in receiving information. The door-knocking strategy is quite effective in increasing the Covid 19 vaccination achievement for the elderly at the UPTD Puskesmas Bogor Tengah.
