Background: Animal feed is one of the main determinants of livestock production costs. Tofu dregs and dry-cooked rice waste is favoured by farmers as an additional feed for cattle because it is readily available and inexpensive. Tofu dregs and dry-cooked rice waste is considered to be able to provide adequate nutrition for cattle and is believed to be able to be a factor in increasing cattle daily body weight. The efficiency of feed use can be determined from feed conversion, namely the amount of feed consumed to achieve an increase of one kilogram of body weight. Purpose: To find out the average increase in daily body weight of beef cattle given tofu dregs and dry-cooked rice waste and how much feed conversion is produced at CV. Tunas Muda Tuban. Method: Using ten beef cattle to be weighed in the first week and the fourth week of observation. Result: Feeding tofu and karak dregs, had an average daily weight gain of 1.34 Kg/day. Conclusion: Provision of tofu and dry-cooked rice waste has a significant influence on the increase in body weight of beef cattle at CV.Tunas Muda, seen from the average daily body weight of 1.34 kg/day.

The objective of this experiment was to determine the effect of rejecting milk on drinking water on feed intake, daily body weight gain and feed conversion of broilers. The material of this study included 200 broilers aged 14 days given P0= drinking water treatment without giving an reject milk and P1= drinking water with the addition of rejected milk. Chickens were treated for 14 days and fed with PK= 22.0-23.0%, Fat= 5.0%, Calcium= 0.9%, Phospor= 0.6%, ME= 3050-3150 Kcal/Kg. In conclusion, rejected milk in drinking water has a significant effect on daily body weight gain, but does not significantly effect on feed intake and feed conversion. Sixty 7-week-old New Zealand White rabbits were randomly distributed into 5 equal experimental groups. The experimental rabbits were fed the tested diets till 14 weeks of age during summer season. The basal diet without feed additives (control; T1) and the other experimental diets were supplemented with enzymes at 0.5 g/kg (T2), organic acids at 1.0 g/kg (T3), Beta-pro at 0.2 g/kg (T4) or their combination (T5). The criteria of response were body weight, weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, some blood constituents, carcass traits and economic efficiency. The obtained results can be summarized as follows: Positive effects of feed additives were observed on live body weight, daily weight gain and feed conversion of growing rabbits. There were no significant effects on blood parameters or carcass traits due to feed additives. It can be concluded that dietary Beta-pro (enzymes+probiotics) or a combination of enzymes, organic acids and Beta-pro at the tested levels can be used to improve the rabbit performance, with no adverse effects on carcass characteristics or blood parameters.

Contudo, há irregularidade das precipitações e os produtores utilizam a irrigação como alternativa para o problema. Porém, há uma necessidade de determinação dos custos de produção e da viabilidade financeira da atividade. O trabalho objetivou avaliar a viabilidade financeira da irrigação em sorgo forrageiro para a bovinocultura de corte para diferentes expectativas de ganho de peso médio diário dos animais. Conduziu-se dois experimentos em 2015/2016 e 2016/2017 em Santa Maria/RS, e avaliou-se as produtividades de seis lâminas de irrigação por aspersão convencional (0, 25, 50, 75, 100 e 125 % da ETo), em quatro repetições, delineamento blocos ao acaso. Com as produtividades, gerou-se funções de produção e determinou-se a carga animal possível de ser alimentada para cada tratamento. Simulou-se três cenários de ganho de peso diário por animal (0,5, 1 e 1,5 kg-1animal-1 dia-1), e os custos de produção para cada condição hídrica estabelecida, além do retorno financeiro para cada cenário testado. However, rains are irregulat and producers  use  irrigation as  alternative to the problem. However, there is a need to determine production costs and  financial viability of the activity. The objective of this work was to evaluate the financial feasibility of irrigation in forage sorghum for beef cattle for different expectations of average daily weight gain of the animals. Two experiments were conducted in 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 in Santa Maria / RS, and the yields of six conventional irrigation depths (0, 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125% of the ETo) were evaluated, in four replications, and randomized block design. With the productivities, production functions were generated and the possible animal load to be fed for each treatment was determined. Three scenarios were simulated of daily weight gain per animal (0.5, 1 and 1.5 kg-1animal-1day-1), and the production costs for each established water condition, in addition to the financial return for each scenario tested. Financial feasibility has been verified for most of the simulated situations evaluated and costs depend on the precipitation regime.   Keywords: Sorghum bicolor L. The objective of this study was to develop the least-cost starter’s diet and evaluated its effect on the growth performance of Sasso breeds and Indigenous ecotype of chicks under the local condition of the South Gondar Zone. The effects of substitution of different levels of commercial starters ration with homemade diet on the growth performance of Sasso and Indigenous chicks were studied in Hiruy Abaregay village of Farta district. The research area is 586km distant from the capital city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. A total of 510 Sasso T-44 and 90 Indigenous local ecotypes day-old chicks were randomly divided into five groups, each with 102 and 18 chicks, respectively. These were assigned into five treatments in which 100 (T1), 75 (T2), 50 (T3), 25 (T4), and 0% (T5) of commercial starter’s diet in factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replications for 60 days feeding period. The results obtained indicated that increased levels of substitution of a commercial diet with a homemade diet significantly depressed (p<0.001) mean daily feed consumption and retention of dry matter, nitrogen, and metabolizable energy. Growth rate as measured by mean daily weight gain, mean final body weight, and total feed consumption and feed cost were significantly miserable (p<0.001) in an increased homemade diet. On the contrary, there was an increase in feed conversion ratio and fiber content in high-level dilution of starter’s commercial diet with a homemade diet. However, the groups of chicks on 0, 25, and 50% commercial starters diets replaced by homemade diet were significantly higher (p<0.001) in mean daily feed intake, daily weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and final body weight attained. The results of this study indicated that up to 50% of expensive commercial starter’s diet could economically be replaced with the least cost homemade diet without adversely affecting the growth performance of chicks.

This study aims to determine the effect of fermented sago pulp in rations on performance (weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion) and local sheep's income over feed cost (IOFC). This research was carried out in the community farms of Karang Rejo Village, Stabat District, Langkat Regency. This research started from March to June 2017. The design used was complete randomized design (RAL), with 4 treatment of 5 replications. Each replication consisted of 1 local sheep with an initial weight of 11.05 ± 0.56 kg. The treatment consisted of P1 (50% sago pulp without fermentation + forage), P2 (60% of sago pitch without fermentation + forage), P3 (50% fermented sago pulp + forage), and P4 (60% fermented sago pulp +). The observed variables were performance (body weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion) and income over feed cost (IOFC). The results showed that the treatment of fermented sago pulp gave a very real effect (P <0.01) on daily weight gain. The mean of P1 = 33,05 g, P2 = 39,95 g, P3 = 46,57 g, P4 = 54,38g. The consumption of fermented sago pulp treatment has a real effect (P <0,01). With average P1 = 486,38 g, P2 = 548,68 g, P3 = 604,69 g, P4 = 671,11 gr. Against the conversion of fermented sago pulp fermentation treatment gave a real effect (P <0.05). With average P1 = 14.78, P2 = 13.90, P3 = 12.99, P4 = 12,49. IOFC the highest local sheep is Rp. 121.568 on treatment of P4 and IOFC lowest at treatment P1 equal to Rp.73.315. The conclusion of the research shows that the utilization of fermented sago pulp can increase body weight gain, feed consumption, local sheep feed conversion. P4 treatment economically has a better economic level than P1,P2 and P3.

The study aims to evaluated thedetermine the effect of gave fermented corncob by probiotic MOIYL to performance of local rabbit. Research conducted at DesaBandar Klippa Deli Serdang and Agriculture Faculty of North Sumatera University, inJanuary – March 2018. The study used design experiment by completely randomizeddesign (CDR), which consists of 4 treatments and five replications. The treatmentconsisted of ration P0= unfermented ,P1 (10% corn cob fermented and 20%unfermented), P2 (20% corn cob fermented and 10% unfermented), and P3 (30% corncob fermented). Variable measured were feed consumption, daily body weight gain,feed conversion ratio and income over feed cost.The results showed that fermented ofcorn cob with probiotics MOIYL provide a significant effect (P<0,05) towards bodyweight gain, consumption and Income Over Feed Cost and does not have an effect (P>0.05) on the value of conversion. The conclusion from the results of this study is theprovision of fermented corn cobs using MOIYL can increase body weight gain,consumption and Income Over Feed Cost, and tend to reduce the value of feedconversion.

The aim of the study was to know the effect of Curcuma longa as herbal feed additive on feed consumption, daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of super native chicken. The research was conducted at Kemukus Village, Ketapang District, South Lampung Regency. The experimental used 80 unisex of super native chicken 5 weeks old. They were feed a ration with control ration + 0% turmeric flour (P0), control ration + 0,04% turmeric flour (P1), control ration + 0,08% turmeric flour (P2) and control ration + 0,12% turmeric flour (P3) during 30 days. The control ration containing 21% crude protein and 3150 kcal/kg metabolism energy. The study used a quantitative metodh with completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The results showed that the addition of turmeric flour (Curcuma longa) up to 0,12% was affected (P 0,05) on daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio. The aim of the research was to study the effects of synchronization index in the sugarcane bagasse based complete feed on feed intake, daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of sheep. Two permanent cannulated male local sheep was 2 years old to create formulation of three diets with different synchronization index, namely 0.37; 0.50 and 0.63 respectively. Fifteen local male sheep with body weight average of 18,32 kg (cv= 14,39%) and aged at 12 months were feed a complete feed based on bagasse with a level of synchrony index 0,37; 0,50; 0,63 were design isoprotein and isoenergy. The treatments were allotted in a randomized block design with 3 treatments and 5 groups for in-vivo test. The feed intake, daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of fifteen rams were determined on week 8 of experimental period. The objective of study was to determine the effect of calf starter in the pre-weaning calves against the daily body weight gain. Twenty Ongole grade (PO) calves age of 1 month divided into 4 treatment groups of feed, 5 calves for each treatment. Treatment (P1) fed with extra soybean groats; (P2) soybean groats 50% + Gliricidia 50%; (P3) soybean groats 50%+ rice bran 50%; (P4) soybean groats 50%+ rejected bread 50%. Calf starter was given at age 1 month to 3 months. Observation was carried out on calves daily weight gain. This experiment was designed in Completely Randomized Design. Data was  analyzed by analysis of variance and continued Least Significant Difference Test. Statistical analysis showed that feed of (P <0.05) significantly affected the daily weight gain of the calves. Results of the study can be concluded that calf starter with soya groats provide the best daily weight gain of pre-weaning calf.
