ABSTRACT The study aims to evaluate the use of palm decanter on storability and palatability of pellet rabbit feed. There were four treatments, P0: rabbit pellets 0% palm decanter, P1: rabbit pellets 5% palm decanter, P2: rabbit pellets 10% palm decanter, P3: rabbit pellets 15% palm decanter. Pellets are prepared based on the standard nutritional needs of rabbits. Pellets were stored in 0.5 kg plastic bags for 0, 7, 14, and 21 days. Moisture, crude fat, and organoleptic content were carried out on pellet with storage times 0, 7, 14, and 21 days. Organoleptic was carried out by 20 panelists. Palatability was carried out for a pellet with seven days of storage and given to 5 rabbits. The moisture and crude fat content of pellet in all treatments ranged from 8.63-10.17%. The higher the palm decanter content, the pellet color tends to be black with a value of 2.6-4.3. The use of 15% palm decanter can cause pellets to have a slightly rancid aroma and a characteristic solid odor. The use of 15% palm decanter did not have a significant effect on rabbit feed consumption with the consumption range 74.93-145.73 g. The study concluded that rabbit pellets containing up to 15% palm mud with a storage time of 21 days did not reduce storability. Pellets containing up to 15% palm mud with a storage time of 7 days did not reduce palatability in rabbits. Key Words: palm decanter, pellet, rancidity, feed, palatability

AbstractThis study aimed to determine the effect of soaking broiler eggs into boiled water of melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) leaves with different concentrations on the total microbial shell and Specific Gravity of broiler eggs. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Husbandry, Department of Animal Husbandry, University of Bengkulu and UPTD Laboratory of Veterinary Public Health at the Department of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Bengkulu Province. The research used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and each design consisted of 4 replications. P0: Control chicken eggs without soaking in boiled water of melinjo leaves (ARDM). P1: (ARDM) 15%. P2: (ARDM) 30%. P3: (ARDM) 45%. The variables observed in this study were the percentage change in egg weight, the percentage of egg shell weight, specific gravity and TPC (Total Plate Count) of broiler eggs. The results showed that broiler eggs soaked with boiled water from melinjo leaves at a concentration of 15% - 45% had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the difference in the proportion of egg weight on the 21st day. However, there was no significant effect (P>0.05) on the proportion of shell weight, specific gravity and TPC (Total Plate Count) of broiler eggshells. Immersion of broiler eggs using boiled water of melinjo leaves was not able to reduce the number of egg shells, but was able to distinguish differences in egg weight, shell weight and could produce 21 days of storage compared to eggs without air soaking boiled melinjo leaves (control). Keywords: broiler eggs, melinjo leaves, Specific gravity, TPC (Total Plate Count)

ABSTRACT One alternative that can be used for poultry feed is cassava flour (Manihot esculenta) which can be made into pellets. The purpose of this research was to know the physical quality of water content (KA), specific gravity (BJ), stack angle (ST), stack density (KT), stack compaction density (KPT), and impact resistance (KB) of pellet product with utilization of flour cassava (Manihot esculenta). This research using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) Factorial. Factor A consisting of 3 treatments, that were A0: without adding cassava leaf flour, A1: 5% and A2: 10% in ration formulation and Factor B consisting of 3 treatments binders, that were B0 : basal ration not binders, B1: tapioca starch and B2: wheat flour. The results showed that the interaction between the addition of cassava leaf flour and binders with different levels can be seen from water content, stack angle and stack compaction density, but on specific gravity, stack density and impact resistance did not occur interaction. It can be concluded that the addition of 10% cassava flour with tapioca flour binders gives the best quality of pellet physical properties to moisture content and stack angle, while other treatment combinations have not been able to improve pellet quality based on specific gravity, stack density, stack compaction density and impact resistance.
