The use of lobster resources, especially in the puerulus stage, for cultivation, is very strategic. Therefore, it is necessary to improve puerulus fishing technology. In the capture fisheries sector, the use of the sense of hearing in fish resources has been carried out to increase catch productivity, by utilizing sound wave-based attractors’ technology. For lobster resources, to what extent is this technology applicable? Underwater sound waves are a phenomenon of compression and expansion of a medium as sound energy passes through it. This aspect of the study is still new and very prospective. The purpose of this review article is to answer some basic questions: Can lobsters be able to hear sounds that come from their surroundings, since when do lobsters sense of hearing begin to function, and anatomically what kind of auditory organs are in lobsters. The results of the review conclude as follows: lobsters have senses that are able to perceive or listen to sound waves (sound) from their surrounding environment, this ability has been possessed by lobsters since they were in the postlarva or puerulus stage. Anatomically, the organs that act as the sense of hearing in lobsters are: receptors on the body surface, chordotonal organs and statocyst organs.

A spiral sound wave transducer comprised of longitudinal vibrating elements has been proposed. This transducer was made from eight uniform radial distributed longitudinal vibrating elements, which could effectively generate low frequency underwater acoustic spiral waves. We discuss the production theory of spiral sound waves, which could be synthesized by two orthogonal acoustic dipoles with a phase difference of 90 degrees. The excitation voltage distribution of the transducer for emitting a spiral sound wave and the measurement method for the transducer is given. Three-dimensional finite element modeling (FEM)of the transducer was established for simulating the vibration modes and the acoustic characteristics of the transducers. Further, we fabricated a spiral sound wave transducer based on our design and simulations. It was found that the resonance frequency of the transducer was 10.8 kHz and that the transmitting voltage resonance was 140.5 dB. The underwater sound field measurements demonstrate that our designed transducer based on the longitudinal elements could successfully generate spiral sound waves.

AbstractRecently strong sound wave was proposed to enhance precipitation. The theoretical basis of this proposal has not been effectively studied either experimentally or theoretically. Based on the microscopic parameters of atmospheric cloud physics, this paper solved the complex nonlinear differential equation to show the movement characteristics of cloud droplets under the action of sound waves. The motion process of individual cloud droplet in a cloud layer in the acoustic field is discussed as well as the relative motion between two cloud droplets. The effects of different particle sizes and sound field characteristics on particle motion and collision are studied to analyze the dynamic effects of thunder-level sound waves on cloud droplets. The amplitude of velocity variation has positive correlation with Sound Pressure Level (SPL) and negative correlation with the frequency of the surrounding sound field. Under the action of low-frequency sound waves with sufficient intensity, individual cloud droplets could be forced to oscillate significantly. The droplet smaller than 40μm can be easily driven by sound waves of 50 Hz and 123.4 dB. The calculation of the collision process of two droplets reveals that the disorder of motion for polydisperse droplets is intensified, resulting in the broadening of the collision time range and spatial range. When the acoustic frequency is less than 100Hz (@ 123.4dB) or the Sound Pressure Level (SPL) is greater than 117.4dB (@ 50Hz), the sound wave can affect the collision of cloud droplets significantly. This study provides theoretical perspective of acoustic effect to the microphysics of atmospheric clouds.

SUMMARYThe body-temperature of the following fishes, crustaceans, and echinoderms has been examined and compared with the temperature of the water in which they live:—Cod-fish (Gadus morrhua), ling (Molva vulgaris), torsk (Brosmius brosme), coal-fish or saithe (Gadus virens), haddock (Gadus œgelfinus), flounder (Pleuronectes flesus), smelt (Osmerus eperlanus), dog-fish (Scyllium catulus), shore crab (Carcinus mœnas), edible crab (Cancer pagurus), lobster (Homarus vulgaris), sea-urchin (Echinus esculentus), and starfish (Asterias rubens). The minimum, maximum, and mean temperature difference for each species are given in the following table:—The excess of temperature is most evident in the larger specimens. This is well shown in the case of the coal-fish, where in the adult it was 0°·7 C., and in the great majority (11 out of 12) of the young of the first year, 0°·0 C. The body-weight and the conditions under which the fish are captured probably form the most important factors in determining the temperature difference.In 14 codfish, where the rectal, blood, and muscle temperatures were recorded in the same individual, it was found to be highest in the muscle and lowest in the rectum, the mean temperature difference being 0°·46 C. for the muscle, 0°·41 C for the blood, and 0°·36 C. for the rectum.

Concerning the scattering of OB stars in the HR diagram (Humphry 1980), the effects of overshooting of convective core (Maeder 1984), mass loss (cf. chiosi and Maeder 1986), and generous stability criterion of semi-convection (Stothers and Chin 1976) have been discussed. Here, we will note the dredge up effect is caused by the sound waves emitted from a convective core.The sound mode of nonradial oscillation, with the spherical harmonics Ylm(θ, ϕ) and the frequency ω, can exist in the propagation zone, where the bottom boundary locates at the position of , and the upper boundary does near the photosphere. Here, Ll is called as the Lamb frequency, and cs is the sound velocity.

As HIV/AIDS continues to spread and affect the lives of millions of people, a sense of urgency has developed about the imperative need to stop the epidemic. Education is the key to change knowledge, attitudes and behaviour. There is currently a gap in educationprogrammes targeting youths of ages 18-24 years, for example, those enrolled in tertiary institutions. The aim of the study was therefore to establish the level of HIV/AIDS awareness among undergraduate pharmacy students at the University of Limpopo (Medunsa Campus)/ Tshwane University of Technology Schools of Pharmacy. A structured questionnaire was administered to pharmacy students on entry to the programme. Although the students of 2003, 2004 and 2005 obtained mean percentage HIV/AIDS awareness scores in the range of 70%-80%, they had inadequate knowledge of some transmission routes, events that occur when HIV invades the body, the “window period” and some symptoms. These knowledge gaps should be addressed by universities by integrating HIV/AIDS policies and education fully into all aspects of their planning, operations andteaching.

The aim of the study was to examine the usefulness of The Picus 3 Sonic Tomograph to assess the health state of trees of monumental sizes, which are an important part of the cultural landscape. In the study there were selected tree species Tilia cordata, Gingko biloba and Ulmus glabra growing in the vicinity of Lublin in different habitat conditions. Changes in the internal structure of the tree trunks were shown on the colour tomograms. Two tested specimens of Tilia cordata located in Radawiec Duży were intended to be cut down due to the construction of the ring road of Lublin. This made it possible to compare the obtained tomograms with the actual state of the inside of tree trunks after cutting down the examined trees. The results of Picus tomography Ulmus glabra and Gingko biloba growing in the historic park in Czesławice were confirmed by a visual assessment of trees. In each case the number of installed sensors influenced the image resolution and accuracy of the obtained tomograms. Diagnostics using sound waves is important in assessing the state of health of each tree, but it is especially recommended for testing of valuable trees. It allows for early diagnosis and selection of such protective actions to reduce to a minimum the destructive impact study on the body of the plant.

[Background] Recent studies have consistently shown that medical students experience a high rate of psychological symptoms. In this situation, teaching mindfulness in medical school has the potential to prevent student burnout. However, there are few consistent educational programs in medical schools throughout Japan.[Method] Since 2015, Showa University (Tokyo) has practiced an intensive self-care program based on mindfulness for 600 first-year healthcare professional students in the schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and rehabilitation. The target objectives of this program were as follows: understand the needs of self-care, enhance self-awareness, evaluate evidence of mindfulness for mental diseases, and practice formal/informal mindfulness-based activities. This program consisted of a 90-minute lecture, followed by consecutive reflective activities, including completing personal journals and portfolios. The students were required to plan how to make use of what they learned in this course. The students were asked to complete a questionnaire upon completion of the course.[Results] The questionnaire indicated that more than 90% of the students were satisfied with the program, and about 25% started regular mindfulness-based practices such as meditation and breathing methods aimed to reduce test anxiety. Descriptions from the e-portfolio showed that the participants understood evitable stressors and the importance of the body-mind relationship.[Conclusion] Mindfulness-based self-care education can encourage healthcare students to understand the necessity of self-care during the early stages of their professional training. This program for the first year students will be followed by a course on Professionalism for healthcare professional students during their subsequent years of university education.

Preliminary observations show the limitations of teaching materials that have a relationship with spiritual aspects, especially the Qur'an, which is due to the limitations of teaching materials that contain these aspects. Required learning that stimulates students to generalize religious aspects and learn physics. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the feasibility of physics teaching materials containing the Qur'an by using a generative model on sound wave material. This study aims to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the teaching materials developed. The research was conducted on 33 students at class XI MIPA 1 MAN 2 Model Banjarmasin using the ADDIE model. Data was taken from the validation results of teaching materials using validation sheet, lesson plan implementation using lesson plan implementation sheet, and students' learning outcomes at the pretest and post-test using learning outcomes tests. The results of this study were 1) the validity of the teaching materials was in the "valid" category with a value of 3.33, 2) the practicality of the teaching materials was in the "very practical" category with a value of 3.63, and 3) the effectiveness of the teaching material was in the "effective/moderate" category with a value of 0,44. This study concluded that physics teaching materials containing Al-Qur'an verses on sound wave materials using generative learning models are declared feasible to be used based on the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the teaching materials. The implication of this research is the creation of teaching materials containing the Qur'an that are used in schools and creating student habits to link physics and the Qur'an.
