Kata Kunci—Evaluasi usability, Perancangan Perangkat Lunak, Standar ISO 9241-11, User ExperienceAbstract— A laboratory management application has been designed and implemented as a case study for usability evaluation of the application, with the final aim is to increase the service level of the laboratory. The application is designed to accommodate three different users with their own specific roles and also has four main features, that are: chatting, internet connection, service request, and information. The result of the application’s design and implementation have been evaluated using ISO 9241-11 standard to measure the effectivity, efficiency, and satisfaction. The measurement of usability level is important for determining the users’ acceptance level of application and also as a feedback mechanism for the benefit of application improvement by the developer. Evaluation results for effectivity level show a high success rate of the application usage, as big as 90-100%. While the efficiency measurement results show the time of use of application’s features that are still not evenly distributed, there are several features that are not quite intuitive and require a long time for users to accomplish some particular tasks, with the longest time is 20 seconds. In line with the high result of effectivity, measurement of users satisfaction also show a significant contribution score at 88,75, so it can be concluded that users only have minor inconvenience against the application and tend to have a positive rating to the application. Keywords— ISO 9241-11 Standard, Software Design, Usability Evaluation, User Experience

It is necessary for hospitals to be able to compare the usability of electronic health records (EHR) before acquisition. Adding usability as a critical element of the procurement process is therefore crucial. During the competitive usability evaluation of several EHRs, the usability walkthrough method has the potential of making end-users more active in the procurement process than demonstrations. This case study presents first results of a comparison of three EHRs performed by nine representative end-users. All users uncovered usability problems while performing their scenarios. The results show that none of the EHRs evaluated is without major usability problems. These problems have been well-known to human factors researchers for a long time.

Extreme sea waves, although rare, can be notably dangerous when associated with energetic sea states and can generate risks for the navigation. In the last few years, they have been the object of extensive research from the scientific community that helped with understanding the main physical aspects; however, the estimate of extreme waves probability in operational forecasts is still debated. In this study, we analyzed a number of sea-states that occurred in a precise area of the Mediterranean sea, near the location of a reported accident, with the objective of relating the probability of extreme events with different sea state conditions. For this purpose, we performed phase-resolving simulations of wave spectra obtained from a WaveWatch III hindcast, using a Higher Order Spectral Method. We produced statistics of the sea-surface elevation field, calculating crest distributions and the probability of extreme events from the analysis of a long time-series of the surface elevation. We found a good matching between the distributions of the numerically simulated field and theory, namely Tayfun second- and third- order ones, in contrast with a significant underestimate given by the Rayleigh distribution. We then related spectral quantities like angular spreading and wave steepness to the probability of occurrence of extreme events finding an enhanced probability for high mean steepness seas and narrow spectra, in accordance with literature results, finding also that the case study of the reported accident was not amongst the most dangerous. Finally, we related the skewness and kurtosis of the surface elevation to the wave steepness to explain the discrepancy between theoretical and numerical distributions.

The Syrian civil war, which broke out in 2011, caused the displacement of more than one million refugees to Jordan. Most of them settled in the Northern Govenorates of Jordan. Due to this, the local services and infrastructures of the hosting communities, in particular the solid waste management (SWM), were put under great pressure. The aim of this study is to evaluate how the off-camp refugees impacted the SWM in the Greater Irbid Municipality (GIM; in the Irbid Governorate), both quantitatively and qualitatively. Data and results obtained from the studies carried out before the Syrian crisis are compared with data collected by the authors in 2016 using similar or comparable methodologies. Moreover, local citizen perceptions of and satisfaction with the solid waste (SW) service level were assessed. A deterioration of the SWM in GIM between 2011 and 2016 was observed in terms of service performance indicators (e.g., an increase of SW collection and transportation costs by 2.5 times and of fines for improper SW disposal by 2.2 times) and of citizens’ views (a decline in SWM quality was felt by 59% of the respondents). An attempt to cope with this situation has been made in recent years with international donors mobilizing efforts and resources to enable municipalities to meet the growing demand in basic SW services. There is however, still much to be done.

AbstractTelehealth appointments have grown in popularity due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Three cases presented in this article show several different perspectives where telehealth was utilized. For the first patient, appointments were successfully completed via telehealth; however, the patient's family opted to continue with an unsecure internet connection at a local laundromat. For the second patient, a stable internet connection could not be obtained in his home, thus making telehealth appointments unavailable. The caregiver of this patient ended up driving to the clinic to have adjustments made in person. For the third patient, telehealth appointments were unavailable due to unstable internet connections as well as difficulty setting up video interpreting services. These cases highlight the idea that telehealth can be incredibly beneficial, when used correctly. For some, the option to attend appointments virtually gives them access to specialists that otherwise may not be available. For other patients, aspects such as access to smart devices and steady internet access must be considered to ensure a successful connection. The hope is that this article sheds light on some of the potential setbacks that can come from the use of telehealth appointments in a practice and provides discussion regarding for whom telehealth may be appropriate, even in pediatric patients. After reading this article, readers should be able to discuss ways in which there could be solutions for these barriers that may prevent some patients from utilizing these types of virtual appointments.
