The pattern of rural development should move towards an integral-concept of development. Early childhood education program, (PAUDNI) has a huge potential to enhance people’s welfare. The village model of PAUDNI would be the best alternative solution of empowering community. The problem is how to develop the integrated village model that establishes a life-long learning community. This article describes, discusses, and explores the integrated village model of PUDNI. The conclusion is (1) the PAUDNI village is constructed by the andragogy theory by Knowles and Pannen, emphasizing the community empowerment on integral and integrated aspects; (2) the construction of PAUDNI village model includes community participations, cooperation, commitment, and integrity; (3) the implementation of the model should consider data and analysis, community participation, PAUDNI Units such as PKBM, LKP, PAUD and other non-formal and informal groups; (4) in supervision and guidance process, the model of PAUNI village should involve some related people or institutions. Implementing such a village model properly would create a life-long learning community and enhance the social welfare and the life quality of the community.

Every person – regardless of place of residence, age, sex, or social status – needs an authority figure, someone they can trust, someone who serves as their source of inspiration and a beacon of hope. However, numerous contemporary researches point out to the existence of a crisis in terms of personal examples, the decline in the quality of education both at home and at school, and the worrisome rise in consumerist and egotistical attitudes which results in pathologies of various shape and form and consequently leads to the general deg¬radation of society. The social life transformations necessitate the introduction of changes to education and the image and authority of a teacher. The purpose of this article is to highlight the role of authority in education, show teacher as a figure of authority as perceived by pupils and their parents, and their expectations and preferences as well as to attempt to define the future of authority in the changing world.

The chapter first examines at a conceptual level the links between theories of social investment and childcare expansion. Although ‘the perfect match’ between the two is often taken for granted in the specialized literature as well as in policy papers, it is here argued that a more nuance approach that ‘unpacks’ this relationship is needed. The chapter will then look for elements of variation in early childhood education and care (ECEC) expansion. Despite an increase in spending over the last two decades in many European and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, wide variation still exists in the way in which ECEC develops. A trade-off is often observed between coverage and quality of provision. A crucial dividing line that determines, to a large extent, the quality of provision in ECEC is the increasing differentiation between preschool education for children aged 3 and above and childcare for younger children.

Abstract Background The main objective of this study is to develop a multilevel multi-factor index to assess the quality of life of the Malayali tribal population of India at the household and village levels based on nine domains, namely, Demography, Economy, Health, Human Development, Infrastructure Development, Work Participation, Recreation, Social Capital and Self Perception. An attempt is made to classify the individuals as well as villages by the overall scores of a multi-factor -index within a community which will help policymakers to develop concrete policy recommendations for the improvement of the quality of life of this tribal group. Method Multilevel factor analysis is utilized to determine uncorrelated meaningful factors and their respective weights using Mplus software from the nested dataset consists of values of nine domains of 1096 individuals collected from 19 villages. A multilevel multi-factor index is constructed using the weights of these factors. The qualities of the lives of different households and different villages are assessed using the scores of this index. Results Three different factors are identified at household as well as village levels. The quality of life at Households and Village levels are classified as poor, low, moderate, good, and excellent based on five quintiles of the scores of the multi-factor index, and the contribution of each domain in this classification is ascertained. Discussion This study finds that at household as well as at village levels, the quality of life of the individuals of this tribal population increases with an increase in education, income, and occupation status which make them lead a healthy life and also make them to find time and money to spend on recreation. Infrastructure is not important at the household level but not so at the village level. Conclusion The main purpose of developing this kind of multi-factor index at different levels is to provide a tool for tribal development based on realistic data that can be used to monitor the key factors that encompass the social, health, environmental, and economic dimensions of quality of lives at the household and community levels of these tribal people.
