Business model innovators (BMI) earned an average premium that was more than four times greater than that enjoyed by product or process innovators. Furthermore, BMI delivered returns that were more sustainable; even after ten years, business model innovators continued to outperform competitors and product and process innovators (BCG, 2009). Innovation is done using a device management such as: Business Model Canvas (BMC) and the design thinking approach (DTA). BMC used to mapping the Bank Muamalat through the 9 building blocks for later in-design a new business model to conduct the interview process to collect ideas and find an innovative solution.

Gapoktan merupakan suatu kelembagaan pada sektor pertanian untuk memfasilitasi para petani dalam melakukan usaha agribisnis atas prinsip kebersamaan dan kemitraan. Peran yang dijalankan mempunyai fungsi yang tertera dalam Peraturan Menteri Pertanian, yaitu a.) Unit usaha penyedia sarana dan prasarana produksi; b.) Unit usahatani; c.) Unit usahatani pengolahan; d.) Unit usahatani Pemasaran;  e.) Unit usahatani keuangan mikro (simpan-pinjam).  Realisasi dalam menjalankan fungsional tersebut tidak sesuai dengan fungsional yang ada. Gapoktan Sumber Rejeki hanya menjadi sebuah wadah penyaluran program dari Pemerintah, selain itu Gapoktan Sumber Rejeki mengalami permasalahan dengan adanya dana bantuan pinjaman dari PPL yang  tidak ada transparansi penggunaan sehingga tidak bisa untuk mengembalikan dana pinjaman tersebut. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada existing business model yang dijalankan  terdapat building blocks yang kosong seperti Customer Relationship, dan Key Partner serta tengkulak sebagai customer yang mengikat dan merugikan bagi petani. Hal ini peneliti menciptakan new business model yang cocok melalui tool Business model Canvas dalam mengembangkan bisnis Gapoktan Sumber Rejeki. Customer segment nantinya akan menyasar pasar Business to Business, seperti restaurant, catering, dan hotel dengan keinginan kontinuitas produk sayur dan buah dengan harga yang sesuai. Sedangkan customer relationship dengan adanya connection dan speed dapat menjaga apa yang diinginkan oleh customer. Aktivitas yang dijalankan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan produksi para petani dengan bekerjasama Dinas Pertanian dan Perusahaan Pupuk. Hal baru dalam revenue stream, adanya sumber dana dari CSR akan lebih mempermudah permasalahan yang sering dirasakan di sektor pertanian, yaitu permodalan.

Este trabalho visa apresentar a experiência da disciplina de Empreendedorismo na UFS como fator motivador do desenvolvimento de competências para o bibliotecário documentalista, onde participaram alunos do curso de Biblioteconomia e Documentação, dentre alunos de outros cursos. O tema do empreendedorismo tem sido debatido no campo profissional e apresenta-se como alternativa importante que permite aos profissionais desenvolver ações e estratégias inovadoras em sua atuação diária. Trata-se de um estudo que tem como principal mérito apresentar esse caso a fim de demonstrar que é possível, a partir de ações de extensão e da formação continuada, desenvolver competências empreendedoras nos futuros profissionais bibliotecários documentalistas, aplicando metodologias como o Ciclo de Aprendizagem Vivencial, o Business Model CANVAS, Design Thinking, e o Plano de Negócios. Ao todo participaram da disciplina 7 alunos do curso de Biblioteconomia e Documentação da UFS, que preencheram formulário eletrônico a fim de fornecer suas percepções sobre a aprendizagem obtida.

Objectives: The ban on smoking creates a good smoke-free environment for the traditional farmer’s market. However,the suddenly spread COVID-19 has greatly impacted the business model of the traditional smoke-free farmer’s market.Methods: In order to realize the effective transformation of the current farmer’s market, this paper uses the business model canvas of Osterwalder and Pigneur to compare and analyze the traditional smoke-free farmer’s market and the smart farmer’s market. Results:The study found that the new business model promoted by “Smart Farmer” can effectively solve the difficulties and problems faced by the current farmer’s market. Conclusions:On the basis of this research, this paper puts forward the main direction of the future transformation of the farmer’s market business model, in order to provide a theoretical and practical basis for the intellectualized reconstruction of farmer’s market in China.

<span>Crowdfunding allows entrepreneurs raise fund to help subsidizing their project. In other country, crowdfunding platform has become famous. In the contrary, it is yet to be trend in Malaysia. Financing using internet still irrelevant among Malaysian citizen. Without a proper guideline and strong crowdfunding platform based in Malaysia as a benchmark, it is hard to convince entrepreneurs and funders to consider crowdfunding as an option to fund a project. This research thus proposed business model canvas which can be applied by the crowdfunding platform organizations to manage their business and operation more efficiently. Case study method has been employed with two techniques of data collection: interview and document review. Two crowdfunding platforms based in Malaysia participated in the case study. The findings show that both crowdfunding platforms have fundamental business model elements that made of a solid foundation as a crowdfunding platform. These results offer insight into crowdfunding environment and how it links to another necessary part of business for it to function as a successful business. Nine building blocks fits well in the crowdfunding platform business model elements namely partner network, core competency, key resources, value proposition, customer relationship, distribution channel, customer segments, cost structure and revenue stream. Interestingly, the findings revealed another imperative element that should be part of the canvas: risk management.</span>

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the business model of a successful social tourism business in Granada, Nicaragua. The study assesses how the business provides an avenue to combat the challenges that restrict certain stakeholders from participating in tourism. The case identifies specific mechanisms, such as investing in the local community’s education and favoring local vendors and merchants, as ways in which social tourism businesses can disseminate value among all stakeholders and create a more equitable form of tourism. Design/methodology/approach The case study method was chosen for collecting and analyzing data. Data include in-depth interviews with business founders, managers and employees, field observation notes, photographic documentation and additional written documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis. Findings The study found that the business was able to produce a high-quality tourism product that disseminated value among all stakeholders. The study also proved the value of the additional building blocks within the Business Model Canvas for Social Enterprise, and the clear distinction between “co-creators” and “beneficiaries.” Originality/value This study uses the Business Model Canvas for Social Enterprise, a model unverified since inception, to analyze a successful social tourism business. It confirms the usefulness of the additional building blocks within the model, and the additional delineations between “co-creators” and “beneficiaries.” Furthermore, the paper recommends these distinctions are extended to all blocks in the canvas, to illustrate the many ways a company can distribute value based on its business model.

An electronic-based business model (BM) is the new paradigm in business model innovation (BMI). In order to adapt to an ever-changing and extremely volatile Internet environment, an enterprise needs a systematic approach and tools to improve its existing business model or create a new one. This study analyzes the issues and system requirements for collaborative business model innovation relating to (1) BM design, (2) BM innovative system design, and (3) moral and intellectual property. Focusing on level (1) BM design, this study develops a systematic business model innovation approach based on the business model canvas (BMC) with nine building blocks and integrates the innovation radar (IR) with twelve key dimensions. Based on level (2), the study proposes a suitable collaborative BMI environment to enable the planning of a BM innovative design support system through virtual innovation teams (VITs), and to understand the system's functional requirements. Using the designed environment, this study develops the architecture of a BM knowledge support service environment based on cloud technology. To verify the proposed method, a bookstore is used as a case study. This study engages in innovative research in order to design a conceptual and systematic BMI approach.

The research purpose is to evaluate the business model on the traditional restaurant in Tanjung Pura, North Sumatera, Indonesia. Business Model Canvas (BMC) consists of customer segments, value propositions, channels, customer relationship, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partnership, and cost structure. The research method was used qualitative descriptive analysis. The data collected using in-depth interviews. Analysis TOWS is to evaluate the business model on a traditional restaurant. The authors recommend increasing the intensity to visit the restaurant with the privilege of membership. The next recommendation is to collaborate with the new business partners such as banking, e-traveler, e-destination, and e-restaurant. The traditional restaurant enables to obtain the other revenues of the subscription fee and advertising space. Also, the authors recommend registering the food recipes as the intellectual property.

Winner Perkasa Indonesia Unggul is a SME that sells product based on seaweed processing. The enterprise is trying to improve their business activity on seaweed processing products. The purposes of this research are to identify the existing business model at the enterprise, to evaluate the model, and to generate a new business model prototype with the Business Model Canvas method analysis. This research  is a case study on a company, and conducted in March-May 2016. The data used are primary data in the form of interviews and internal company data, while qualitative analysis used to evaluate the business model, and the SWOT analysis method used to help generating new business model prototype. The results of this research were two alternative of business model prototype for the enterprise’s development in the future. The first alternative is trying to classify new customer segment, and followed by creating the new value proposition. With the additional of new customer segment and the new value proposition, it caused the enterprise to extend the channels by optimalizing technologies, and eventually increase the revenue stream of the enterprise. The second alternative is trying to increase the customer relationship by creating the new value proposition. It will raise the opportunity to make an alliance or partnership for helping the business activity of the enterprise. However, the changes on some parts of the business model will affect the enterprise’s cost structure.

Background – PT Oesodo Alam Mandiri (PT OAM) is a startup company that was established to provide solutions to business opportunities and problems that are being faced by people in Indonesia. Before starting a business, it is necessary to analyze both internal and external factors, also carry out strategy formulation. The results of this analysis will assist in determining the right strategy and business model. Through the right strategy and business model, a newly established startup company will be able to compete and be sustainable.
