Research application of DLP-system for protection of confidential information, a methodology for adapting the DLP-system to the specific activities of the organization, comparative analysis of the results of standard and adapted DLP-systems in the Bank. Developed: a technique for analyzing information security events, algorithm for responding to identified events, methodology and procedures for adapting the standard DLP-system to the specifics of the Bank’s activities. The methodology for adapting a standard DLP-system to the specifics of the Bank’s work consists of the following activities: identification of critical corporate information categories, audit of information systems, description of current risks and their assessment, introduction of rules for Bank’s critical information and setting up a DLP system in accordance with the specifics of the Bank’s work. Modernization of the configuration of a standard DLP-system includes the following procedures: selection of confidential information of the Bank based on membership criteria, setting up detection, creating perimeters and developing an algorithm for responding to identified information security events in the Bank. The algorithm is designed to improve the efficiency of the response of information security officers in cases of incident detection and describes the stages of the subsequent actions. The results of the research prove that using an adapted DLP-system significantly reduces the number of false positives, increasing the accuracy of detecting confidential information and reducing the risk of leakage of critical information outside the corporate network. The application of the adapted DLP-system in the Bank allowed to increase the speed of response of information security specialists to the information security events detected by the DLP-system adapted to the Bank, and also allowed the DLP-system to transition from the copy mode to the blocking mode of illegitimate transfer of information.

The rapid development of information and communication technologies has increased the vulnerabilities of various networks, systems and objects as well as made it much more difficult to ensure their reliable protection and security. All these factors have led to the fact that the world's leading countries have begun to pay considerable attention to cybersecurity and critical information infrastructure protection. However, the protection of various types of information with restricted access (in particular, confidential information) at critical infrastructure objects remains unexplored. With this in mind, the paper analyzes the existing approaches of the world's leading countries to the confidential information protection at critical infrastructure. The analysis revealed that today there are no comprehensive, multifunctional methods of protecting confidential information at critical information infrastructure. In addition, the classification of critical information infrastructure objects according to information security requirements is developed. This classification by determining the type of processing information, possible access modes and criticality category, allows to ensure unity of approaches to protection of these objects belonging to different types, including information systems, automated control systems and information-telecommunication networks.

The importance of using the adapted DLP-system in the «Blocking» mode of leaking confidential information of the company is investigated. The scheme of interception of information security events in the «Copy» mode is given, the analysis of which reflects the main drawback of using this mode – the DLP-system works only with copies of confidential documents, while the originals were delivered to the recipient. Such cases inflict enormous damage on companies, so the transfer of critical information beyond the corporate network is unacceptable.A solution is proposed for transferring the operation of the DLP-system from the «Copy» mode to the «Blocking» mode. It is important that the operation of the DLP-system does not hinder the staff members from performing regular operations and does not hinder business processes. Therefore, it is mandatory to adapt the standard DLP-system to the specifics of the company’s activities. After that the transition of the adapted DLP-system to the «Blocking» mode is carried out.Developed: the transition procedure of the adapted DLP-system from the «Copy» mode to the «Blocking» mode, the scheme of the event capture by the DLP-system for the two modes. The main channels of data leaks were investigated, the main leaks were identified by the data type and by the transmission channel. The analysis of the DLP-system operation in the «Blocking» mode is performed.

The article discusses the competences and powers of the state authorities of the Russian Federation within their legal status in the field of ensuring the security of critical information infrastructure. Some functions and authorities in the field of information security have changed in a number of federal executive bodies. In particular, the Federal Security Service, on the basis of a presidential decree, is authorized to create a state system for detecting, preventing and eliminating the consequences of computer attacks on information resources of the Russian Federation. However, not all rights and obligations are enshrined; a number of powers cause the duality of the legal status of certain federal bodies of state power. The clarity and unambiguity of securing the rights and obligations of state bodies authorized in the field of information security are guarantees for effectively ensuring the security of important information infrastructure facilities.

In this article, the research of information system protection by ana ly zing the risks for identifying threats for information security is considered. Information risk analysis is periodically conducted to identify information security threats and test the information security system. Currently, various information risk analysis techni ques exist and are being used, the main difference being the quantitative or qualitative risk assessment scales. On the basis of the existing methods of testing and evaluation of the vulnerabilities for the automated system, their advantages and disadvantages, for the possibility of further comparison of the spent resources and the security of the information system, the conclusion was made regarding the deter mi nation of the optimal method of testing the information security system in the context of the simulated polygon for the protection of critical information resources. A simula tion ground for the protection of critical information resources based on GNS3 application software has been developed and implemented. Among the considered methods of testing and risk analysis of the automated system, the optimal iRisk methodology was identified for testing the information security system on the basis of the simulated. The quantitative method Risk for security estimation is considered. Generalized iRisk risk assessment is calculated taking into account the following parameters: Vulnerabili ty  — vulnerability assessment, Threat — threat assessment, Control — assessment of security measures. The methodology includes a common CVSS vul nerability assessment system, which allows you to use constantly relevant coefficients for the calculation of vulnerabilities, as well as have a list of all major vulnerabilities that are associated with all modern software products that can be used in the automated system. The known software and hardware vulnerabilities of the ground are considered and the resistance of the built network to specific threats by the iRisk method is calculated.

According to many business publications, firms that experience information security breaches suffer substantial reputational penalties. This paper examines incidents in which confidential information, for a firms customers or employees, is stolen from or lost by publicly traded companies. Firms that experience such breaches suffer statistically significant losses in the market value of their equity. On the whole, the data indicate that these losses are of similar magnitudes to the direct costs. Thus, direct costs, and not reputational penalties, are the primary deterrents to information security breaches. Contrary to many published assertions, on average, firms that lose customer information do not suffer reputational penalties. However, when firms lose employee information, we find significant reputational penalties.

AbstractBackground: The globalization era has brought with it the development of high technology, and therefore new methods of preserving and storing data. New data storing techniques ensure data are stored for longer periods of time, more efficiently and with a higher quality, but also with a higher data abuse risk. Objective: The goal of the paper is to provide a review of the data mining applications for the purpose of corporate information security, and intrusion detection in particular. Methods/approach: The review was conducted using the systematic analysis of the previously published papers on the usage of data mining in the field of corporate information security. Results: This paper demonstrates that the use of data mining applications is extremely useful and has a great importance for establishing corporate information security. Data mining applications are directly related to issues of intrusion detection and privacy protection. Conclusions: The most important fact that can be specified based on this study is that corporations can establish a sustainable and efficient data mining system that will ensure privacy and successful protection against unwanted intrusions.

When it comes to preventing unauthorised access to, destruction of, or inspection of confidential data, information security has always been a major factor. Multimedia information is now used in every field throughout the world. The confidential information that is used in these areas must be kept secure. There are a variety of methods for keeping data secure. One of these is steganography, which is concealing information within other data into a format that the cover information remains unchanged. Cryptography, an encryption process that scrambles data into a written form that is sometimes referred to as a hash, is an auxiliary approach for securing information. Steganography and cryptography each have their own set of benefits and drawbacks. Even though both technologies give security, it is usually a good practise to combine Cryptographic algorithms to create additional layers of security. When cryptographic with steganography are combined, a multi-layer security paradigm is created. The proposed work's main goal is to add an additional layer of protection by using cryptography and steganography to encrypt and embed secret data conveyed across an insecure channel.
