We discuss the problem of designing a system of teaching methods in the context of the dynamics of the external information environment. The necessity of attracting technology that makes it possible to quickly select the methods of organizing the educational and cognitive activities of students by automating the processing of a database containing large data sets of available general, special and particular didactic methods and their functional suitability is substantiated. The problem is solved using formalized methods. The factors affecting the selection of a system of teaching methods are identified. An algorithm for designing a system of teaching methods is developed in accordance with the necessary restrictions reflecting a system of factors determining a complex of effective methods for studying didactic units and modules of the content of the discipline. The developed algorithm is implemented as a software package. This complex is a means of supporting the decision making of choosing a system of computer science teaching methods and allows the teacher to make an informed selection of the most effective teaching methods in automatic or automated modes, taking into account personal preferences. The universality of the complex consists in the possibility of modifying the database in accordance with the specifics of specific academic disciplines, which makes it possible to use it in the education system.

(1) Background: final year students of computer science engineering degrees must carry out a final degree project (FDP) in order to graduate. Students’ contributions to improve open source software (OSS) through FDPs can offer multiple benefits and challenges, both for the students, the instructors and for the project itself. This work reports on a practical experience developed by four students contributing to mature OSS projects during their FDPs, detailing how they addressed the multiple challenges involved, both from the students and teachers perspective. (2) Methods: we followed the work of four students contributing to two established OSS projects for two academic years and analyzed their work on GitHub and their responses to a survey. (3) Results: we obtained a set of specific recommendations for future practitioners and detailed a list of benefits achieved by steering FDP towards OSS contributions, for students, teachers and the OSS projects. (4) Conclusion: we find out that FDPs oriented towards enhancing OSS projects can introduce students into real-world, practical examples of software engineering principles, give them a boost in their confidence about their technical and communication skills and help them build a portfolio of contributions to daily used worldwide open source applications.

Abstract. In this work we present the Open Plot Project, an open-source software for structural data analysis, including a 3-D environment. The software includes many classical functionalities of structural data analysis tools, like stereoplot, contouring, tensorial regression, scatterplots, histograms and transect analysis. In addition, efficient filtering tools are present allowing the selection of data according to their attributes, including spatial distribution and orientation. This first alpha release represents a stand-alone toolkit for structural data analysis. The presence of a 3-D environment with digitalising tools allows the integration of structural data with information extracted from georeferenced images to produce structurally validated dip domains. This, coupled with many import/export facilities, allows easy incorporation of structural analyses in workflows for 3-D geological modelling. Accordingly, Open Plot Project also candidates as a structural add-on for 3-D geological modelling software. The software (for both Windows and Linux O.S.), the User Manual, a set of example movies (complementary to the User Manual), and the source code are provided as Supplement. We intend the publication of the source code to set the foundation for free, public software that, hopefully, the structural geologists' community will use, modify, and implement. The creation of additional public controls/tools is strongly encouraged.

In the conditions of high competition of application of innovative approaches and marketing instruments of mediadesign it is laid in philosophy of market behavior as system of practical events that provide basic directions of positioning of company at the market, assist the increase of financial results of activity and selection of potential of competitiveness on the whole. Forming of corporate style in a mediasphere occupies a leading role at present, comes forward as a major intangible asset of enterprise, provides the favourable terms of development at the modern market, is the instrument of expansion of partner mutual relations and connections. The relevance of the chosen topic is that within a single concept and overall plan to influence the minds of consumers, create a positive style of the product or service, the basis for the formation of the company's corporate style are advertising technologies. The article analyzes the main aspects of corporate style formation by advertising and justification of its need to form media design tools, highlights the main directions of development and use of innovative tools to adapt to the modern market. The main aspects of formation of corporate style by advertising means and substantiation of its necessity of formation by tools of media design are analyzed, the basic directions of development and use of innovative tools on adaptation to the modern market are allocated.

This paper presents an educational tool based on open source software and low cost hardware to supplement science teaching, merging concepts of remote experiment, virtual worlds and virtual learning environment. Using an avatar, students can move around in an enriched environment and access a remote microscope that enables visualization of plant parts and interaction with the available samples.
