The paper aimed to formalise the relationship between the level of Ukrainian energy efficiency from 30 indicators of social, ecological and economic development of the country. The main purpose of the study is to identify the impact and dependence of socio-ecological and economic indicators on the level of energy efficiency using multiple correlation-regression analysis. The systematisation of the analysed results allowed identifying the core directions to overcome the issues of the slow pace of energy efficiency improvement and the development of carbon neutrality of the country. The relevance of this scientific solution to the problem is that the level of energy efficiency is influenced by a large number of socio-ecological and economic factors sometimes independent of each other. The authors analysed the relationship between the level of energy efficiency and socio-ecological and economic indicators of country development. The investigation consisted from the following stages: conducting polynomial-regression analysis of energy efficiency development in Ukraine; development of correlation-regression multiple models of relationships between energy efficiency indicator and socio-ecological-economic indicators; explaining the conclusions and providing recommendations considering the findings. The object of the study was the processes of energy efficiency relationships with 30 indicators of socio-ecological and economic development, namely how much they affect the energy development of the country. The conclusions were theoretical and practical in terms of the impact on the level of energy efficiency of interdisciplinary indicators. The conclusions which proved by the empirical findings allowed identifying weaknesses in the development of the national economy, as well as to improve and increase the energy potential of the country through energy efficiency development strategies due to the studied determinants that have a strong impact on the level of energy efficiency. Keywords: energy efficiency, carbon-free economy, sustainable development, energy sector, green energy, energy security.

Abstract. The globalization of markets, the need to comply with modern economic trends and introduce new technological solutions to increase the profitability of the banking business have significantly intensified the processes of mergers and acquisitions in the banking sector. M&A processes are long and complex, their results are difficult to forecast in lack of actual detailed research. The diversity of the results of the available research requires updating the data based on larger volumes of transactions and larger time intervals. The purpose of the article is to substantiate two hypotheses: first, the impact of M&A agreements especially on the increase in the value of banks; and impact of factors that show economic development level on the value of banks. The object of the study is the relationship between the value of commercial banks in domestic and foreign financial markets, M&A agreements, as well as economic indicators published by the World Bank and measuring the level of economic development of countries. The article uses statistical modeling method. The constructed model of linear regression allows to state that the fact of influence of M&A on growth of cost of consolidated banks is fair for 54.8% of cases. The study shows that the M&A processes have the greatest impact on the value of banks in the interval of 3—5 years after the conclusion of the agreement. Analysis of the relationship between economic indicators and the growth of bank value shows that the greatest impact on the value of banks has percent of the growth of GDP and GDP per capita, but the low value of the determinant at 22.9% indicates a low dependence of bank value on the level of economic indicators in general. It was found that external factors do not directly affect the growth in the value of banks in the process of M&A transactions. The question of expanding the system of factors that will influence the M&A processes and, as a consequence, the value of the banks, will be the subject of further research. Keywords: globalization of markets, mergers and acquisitions of banks, consolidation, M&A dynamic, market capitalization, bank value. Over the last few years, information and communication technology (ICT) has become a key catalyst for economic growth. The durability of this technology is demonstrated by the rapid proliferation of the Internet, mobile phones and cellular networks across the globe. However, among economic scholars, the question of exactly how the spread of ICT affects economic development and FDI, especially in ASEAN countries with differences in levels of income, remains unanswered. The aim of this study was essentially to explore the relationship between ICT dissemination, FDI and economic growth in ASEAN-8 countries. By using data from 2003 to 2017, the panel regression analysis was used to evaluate these relationships. The results showed that the dissemination of ICT and FDI are important and they have a positive effect on the ASEAN-8 countries’ economic development.

In this paper we analyze how corruption affects the shadow labor market and describe the facts of the relationship between corruption and the factors shaping shadow employment. Confirmation of relationship between the spread of corruption and shadow employment in Ukraine is the objective of this investigation, and its results are presented in this paper. In order to achieve the set goal, the authors developed scientific tasks to determine the factors stimulating shadow employment and to carry out correlation and regression analysis of the relationship between the Corruption Perception Index in Ukraine and the indicators stimulating the growth of shadow employment in Ukraine. Despite the absolute negative effect of the excessive spread of both corruption and shadow labor market on national economies, the authors suggest that corruption is an impulse for the growth of shadow labor market. The paper is based on the hypothesis that the individual motivation for participation in undeclared labor activities is of common interest for both employers and employees. Therefore, the authors describe the spread of the shadow labor market by means of indicators, which form shadow employment from the sidelines of supply and demand in this market. Thus, it is defined that the factors that form the shadow labor market from the supply sideline include: the level of unemployment; the level of migration; the level of wages and social security. The factors that form shadow employment from the demand sideline include: the level of tax burden on wages; staff turnover and the dynamics of the population level. The carried out regression analysis between the indicators of corruption and the factors that form shadow employment on the demand and supply sidelines shows that corruption has a significant impact on the level of unemployment in Ukraine, labor external migration, the level of poverty among the working population, the level of social protection and the level of tax burden. Therefore, the reduction in the corruption level will have a significant impact on the socio-economic indicators that incite shadow employment from both demand and supply sidelines on the unregistered labor. Our conclusions indicate that in order to improve the socio-economic indicators of economic development, which have an impact on the spread of the shadow labor market, the Government first of all should reduce the level of corruption in the economy.

Environmental threats of anthropological origin, such as global warming, rising water levels, air pollution, excessive waste generation, or the seas and oceans quality decline, are threats that directly affect us. Thus, the main goal of this paper is to evaluate the impact of current economic development in the intentions of planetary limits through regression analysis using cross-sectional and panel data evaluating the dependence of ecological footprint per person, gross domestic product per person and Sustainable Development Index. The analysis shows that economic development in line with the current market rules contributes to expand the ecological footprint. We argue that both green measures into international and national policies as an effective monitoring of the achievement of sustainable goals of all market actors are necessary.

How effective is Russian state television in framing the conflict in Ukraine that began with the Euromaidan protests and what is its impact on Russian Internet users? We carried out a content analysis of Dmitrii Kiselev's “News of the Week” show, which allowed us to identify the two key frames he used to explain the conflict – World War II-era fascism and anti-Americanism. Since Kiselev often reduces these frames to buzzwords, we were able to track the impact of these words on Internet users by examining search query histories on Yandex and Google and by developing quantitative data to complement our qualitative analysis. Our findings show that much of what state media produces is not effective, but that the “fascist” and anti-American frames have had lasting impacts on Russian Internet users. We argue that it does not make sense to speak of competition between a “television party” and an “Internet party” in Russia since state television has a strong impact in setting the agenda for the Internet and society as a whole. Ultimately, the relationship between television and the Internet in Russia is a continual loop, with each affecting the other.

In a series of studies about settlement density in the Rhine area from protohistoric to modern times, K.-P. Wendt and A. Zimmermann try their hand at the difficult task of evaluating the palaeodemography of a region. Their task is all the more complex because these are times and spaces for which written sources are lacking, as a result of which reasoning relies very broadly on interpretation of the archaeological record. The two researchers also attempt to characterize the density of rural settlements and their spatial distribution. I shall not dally on the methods employed, which involve quite complex statistics and geomatics (anyway, they lie outside my area of scientific competence), and shall take the figures at face value, even if I might question some of them. I shall contemplate the economic impact of population growth on the countryside of Gaul in Imperial times. It is a subject that has often been addressed, but one which I intend to reconsider in the context of a European programme on this issue. The relationship between population numbers, agricultural yield, gross domestic product and taxation has certainly been one key to our understanding of the Roman economy ever since the model suggested by K. Hopkins. Here, however, I do not wish to proceed in terms of theory, but intend to review critically the archaeological sources, which, for want of written evidence, are our mainspring for evaluating the key components of economic development on the regional scale of NE Gaul.

Competent managers are very important assets to any organization as they drive it to success through the challenges of global competition. Managerial effectiveness has gained much research attention in recent years due to its importance to the organization as a whole. The purpose of this study is to test the impact of work values on managerial effectiveness in Indian organizations. To this end, a survey was conducted on a sample of 300 managers working in different organizations in India. The article employs factor analysis, Pearson’s r and step-wise multiple regression analysis to determine the effect of work values on managerial effectiveness. Findings indicate that work values have a positive and significant relationship with managerial effectiveness. The study provides valuable implications for practitioners and researchers by providing a deep understanding of the relationship between work values and managerial effectiveness, and between the dimensions and aspects of the two constructs. Practitioners could use the findings of the study to identify which work values influence managerial effectiveness most and work towards incorporating those values in the organizational culture.

Celebrities are famous people who often belong to entertainment industry. They are known to have a strong influence on people’s behavior. In the digital age this impact has expanded to include the online arena. Celebrities increasingly utilize Instagram, an online social network, to promote commercial products. It is important to learn to what extent people are influenced by this type of promotion and what sort of people are likely to be swayed by it. Research has demonstrated that people’s personalities have a strong impact on their behaviors online. However, until now, these investigations have not included the relationship between personality and the degree of celebrity influence through social networks. This study examines how much the personality of a user is related to the degree to which he or she is influenced by these Celebrity Instagram messages. Participants comprised 121 students (34 males, 87 females). They answered questionnaires which focused on their personality and were asked about the degree of influence celebrities exerted upon them through Instagram. Results showed that people who are characterized as being open and having an internal locus of control are more resistant to such celebrity influences. This paper demonstrates that the personality of a recipient is likely to influence the degree of impact that a celebrity endorsement is likely to produce. The implications of these results are discussed.
