This study aims at finding out how: (1) amount of input, (2)  amount of vocabulary, (3) learner’s motivation, (4) amount of input, amount of vocabulary, and learner’s motivation affect the English reading literacy; (5) amount of input affects amount of vocabulary, (6) amount of vocabulary affects learner’s motivation, and (7)  amount of input affects learner’s motivation. This study was an ex-post facto. The population comprised year VII students of SMP’s in Bantul District in the second semester of the academic year of 2013/2014. A sample of 384 students was established using the proportional sampling technique. The data were collected through a close-ended questionnaire and test. The close-ended questionnaire was used to collect the data related to students’ learning input and motivation. The test was used to find out the students’ knowledge on vocabulary and reading comprehension. The data were analyzed by employing the linear regression analysis for the linear variables, continued by the multiple regression analysis for the whole variables, and then followed by partial correlation. The findings showed that there is a significant effect of: (1) amount of input; (2) amount of vocabulary; (3) amount of inputs, the learner’s motivation, and amount of vocabulary; (4) amount of inputs and learner’s motivation; (5) learner’s motivation and amount of vocabulary; and (6) amount of inputs and amount of vocabulary on the English reading literacy of SMP students in Bantul District. Meanwhile, there is no significant effect of learner’s motivation on the English reading literacy of SMP students in Bantul District.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ; (1) minat siswa SMP masuk SMK di Kota Pontianak; (2) pengaruh pemahaman diri terhadap minat siswa SMP masuk SMK di Kota Pontianak; (3) pengaruh lingkungan terhadap minat siswa SMP masuk SMK di Kota Pontianak; (4) pengaruh citra SMK terhadap minat siswa SMP masuk SMK di Kota Pontianak; dan(5) pengaruh pemahaman diri, lingkungan dan citra SMK yang memengaruhi terhadap minat siswa SMP masuk SMK di Kota Pontianak secara bersama-sama. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah ex-post facto.Populasi Penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX SMP di Kota Pontianak yang berjumlah 8000 orang. Penentuan ukuran sampel menggunakan table Issac& Michael. Daritable yang disediakan dengan taraf kesalahan5%,diperoleh sampel sebesar350 orang. Pengambilan sampel dengan teknik clauster random sampling,pengumpulan datamenggunakan angket. Teknik analisa data dalam penelitian ini adalah statistik deskriptif yang digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan data masing – masing variabel dan analisis regresi yang digunakan untuk pengujian hipotesis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa (1) minat siswa SMP masuk SMK terdapat kategori baik dengan rata-rata skor 41,79; (2) terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan antara pemahaman diri terhadap minat siswa SMP masuk SMK di Kota Pontianak dengan nilai r=0,743; p= 0,000; (3) terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan antara lingkungan terhadap minat siswa SMP masuk SMK di Kota Pontianak dengan nilai r=0,527; p=0,000; (4) terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan antara citra SMK terhadap minat siswa masuk SMK dengan nilai r= 0,678; p= 0,000; dan (5) terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan antara pemahaman diri, lingkungan, dan citra SMK secara bersama-sama terhadap minat siswa SMP masuk SMK di Kota Pontianak. Prediksi perubahan Y ditunjukan oleh persamaan garis regresi Y = -8,735 + 0,749 X1 + 0,126 X2 + 0,453 X3. FACTORS AFFECTING JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ INTEREST IN STUDYING AT VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IN PONTIANAK CITYAbstractThis study aims to investigate: (1) junior high school (JHS) students’ interest in studying at vocational high schools (VHSs) in Pontianak City, (2) the effect of self-understanding on JHS students’ interest in studying at VHSs in Pontianak City, (3) the effect of the environment on JHS students’ interest in studying at VHSs in Pontianak City, (4) the effect of the VHS image on JHS students’ interest in studying at VHSs in Pontianak City, (5) the effects of the self-understanding, environment, and VHS image as an aggregate on JHS students’ interest in studying at VHSs in Pontianak City. The growth of information and technology has given significant influence on the tourism industry and system, both positive and negative impacts. As of now, through social media, tourists and destinations or tourism attractions may interact with one another, monitor, and give opinions, as well as evaluate every form of service given firsthand, by various internet platforms. One of the heritage site tourism attractions that utilize social media in attracting tourists' interest is Kota Tua. This study aims to identify social media used by the Kota Tua tourism area manager as a media to promote; furthermore, this study compares the performance of each social media platforms. Also, this study examines the influence of social media toward tourist motivation in visiting Kota Tua Jakarta. The approach utilized in this study is quantitative with a descriptive method. Whereas the sampling technique used is incidental sampling with the number of involved respondents of 100 people. Gathered data is then analyzed through linear regression analysis method by using SPPS v.25.0 program. Linear regression analysis is conducted to see if there are any social media influences toward the tourist motivation of visit. This study has found that visitors that come to Kota Tua are mostly high school students, whereas the most frequently used type of social media to access information about Kota Tua is Instagram. The result of data analysis also shows that there is indeed a correlation between social media variable with the tourist motivation of visit to Kota Tua Jakarta. This study is expected to be a reference related to the role of social media for the tourism industry, especially historical heritage attractions. The limitations of this study are respondents who are limited and cannot represent or be generalized as domestic tourists in general (Indonesian scope).

This study aims to determine the relationship of junior high school students’ spatial and mathematical logical intelligence based on understanding the concepts. Spatial intelligence indicators in this study are reviewed from students’ abilities in using images as a tool for solving problems, connecting data with concepts that have been held, and finding patterns in solving problems. On the other hand, the indicators of students’ mathematical logical intelligence is observed by looking at students' abilities to mention and understand information that is known in a problem, to draw up a plan of completion and to do mathematical calculations correctly. The indicators of understanding concepts are restating a concept, providing examples and non-examples of concepts, and applying concepts or algorithms in problem solving. The research method in this research is the Ex Post Facto correlational type, with using a purposive sampling as the sampling technique. The results of the data analysis obtained a correlation coefficient is around 0.93 with 86% R square. The relationship between the spatial intelligence variables is shown by the understanding of concepts by 86%, the level of the relationship, with the correlation coefficient is 0.93, where mathematical logical intelligence with an understanding of 80%, with the level of the relationship of 0.89, and the relationship of spatial intelligence with a mathematical logical is described by a 77% level of the relationship, with 0.88, as the correlation coefficient. The results showed that there was a very strong relationship between spatial intelligence and logical mathematics in terms of understanding students' concepts.

<p>The aims of this research are intended to examine the effect of mathematics anxiety toward junior high school students’ mathematical understanding ability. The hypothesis of this research was mathematics anxiety had significant effect toward students’ mathematical understanding ability. The research utilized a survey method. The population in this research were students of grade eight from one junior high school in South Jakarta. As the concern, the sample comprised of 66 students who selected by purposive sampling technique. The instrument comprised Mathematics Anxiety Questionnaire. The items were grouped under four sub-headings of attitudinal, cognitive, somatic, and mathematical knowledge/understanding. Two forms of the questionnaire were designed. One sought information on anxiety when working on mathematics in a class consist of 12 items and the other on anxiety on completing a test on mathematics, consist of 16 items. The data analysis used simple linear regression analysis. The result showed that mathematics anxiety had significant effect toward students’ mathematical understanding ability.</p><p> </p><p>Keywords: mathematical understanding ability, anxiety, mathematics</p>

Kejadian dismenorea primer di Indonesia sekitar 54,89%, sisanya 45,11% dismenorea sekunder. Dismenorea primer  pada siswi SMP X dari 35 siswi 25 siswi mengalami disminor bila haid. Salah satu pengobatan dismenorea secara non-farmakologis yaitu hipnoterapi. Hipnoterapi merupakan salah satu cara yang mudah, cepat, efektif, dan efisien dalam menjangkau pikiran bawah sadar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh hipnoterapi terhadap dismenorea pada siswi SMP. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Pre Eksperimental dengan rancangan penelitian one group pre-test-post-test. Jumlah populasi yang didapat 117 orang dan jumlah sampel yang diambil 20 orang, dengan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data diperoleh secara langsung dari responden dengan menggunakan alat ukur Verbal Descriptor Scale (VDS). Analisis data melalui dua tahapan, yaitu univariat dan bivariat dengan menggunakan uji t-dependen. Hasil penelitian didapatkan nilai rata-rata skala dismenorea sebelum diberikan intervensi adalah 6,50 dan nilai rata-rata sesudah diberikan intervensi adalah 1,35, terdapat pengaruh hipnoterapi terhadap dismenorea (t=17,596, p-value= 0,001). Hipnoterapi dapat disarankan untuk diterapkan sebagai tindakan nonfarmakologis untuk mengatasi dismenorea.Kata kunci: Dismenorea primer, hipnoterapi, SMP.Effect of Hypnotherapy on Alleviating Primary Dysmenorrhea in Junior High School StudentsAbstractThe incidence of primary dysmenorrhea in Indonesia amounts to approximately 54.89%, while another 45.11% is secondary dysmenorrhea. 25 out of 35 female students at SMP Patriot Bangsa (Patriot Bangsa Junior High School) experience primary dysmenorrhea when menstruating. One of nonpharmacological treatments for dysmenorrhea is hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is an easy, fast, effective, and efficient way to treat dysmenorrhea by reaching the subconcious. This research aimed to identify the effect of hypnotherapy on dysmenorrhea in junior high school students. This research used a pre-experimental method with one group pretest- posttest design. The population of this research was 117 students and 20 students were chosen as sample with purposive sampling technique. Data were collected from respondents using Verbal Descriptor Scale (VDS) instrument. Data were analyzed in two steps, univariate and bivariate with t-dependent test. The results showed that the average value of dysmenorrhea before intervention is 6.5 and after intervention is 1.35. Hypnotherapy was found to have an effect on dysmenorrhea (t=17,596, p-value 0,001). It was suggested to the school that they should conduct nonpharmacological interventions such as hypnotherapy as treatment of dysmennorhea.Key words: Dysmenorrhea primer, hypnotherapy, SMP.

Science competence of students continues to develop because it is influenced by factors of intelligence and participation. Lack of understanding of the importance of student participation in obtaining more optimal learning outcomes is no longer one of the priority factors, so students tend to feel lazy, and find it difficult to express opinions which cause the competence of science knowledge does not increase. This study aimed to analyze the significant effect of naturalist ability on the competence of science knowledge, the significant effect of learning participation on the competence of science knowledge, and the significant effect together of naturalist ability and learning participation on the competence of science knowledge of fourth grade students. This type of research is ex-post facto. The population in this study were all fourth-grade students, amounting to 490 students. The sample was determined by proportional random sampling technique and obtained a total sample of 214 people. Naturalist ability data collection and learning participation were obtained by distributing questionnaires and competence in science knowledge was obtained by recording documents. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that there was a significant effect of naturalist ability on the competence of science knowledge with a contribution of 12.68%, there was a significant influence of learning participation on the competence of science knowledge with a contribution of 35.44%, and there was a significant influence on naturalist ability and learning participation. to the competence of science knowledge with a contribution of 48.12%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that naturalist abilities and learning participation contribute to the competence of science knowledge of fourth grade elementary school students

This research tries to apply the scaffolding teaching mode in English reading teaching, with the purpose of enhancing students’ interest in reading and improving their reading levels. This study explores whether scaffolding teaching can enhance students’ reading interest and thus improve junior high school students’ English reading ability. After a 3-month-long teaching experiment, through the comparison and analysis of questionnaires and English reading scores, it is found out that scaffolding teaching is beneficial to enhance students’ reading interest and improve students’ reading level.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan letak, jenis, faktor-faktor kesulitan, dan self-efficacy siswa SMP swasta di Kabupaten Sleman, DIY dalam memecahkan masalah matematika berbentuk soal cerita. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah 124 siswa SMP swasta di Kabupaten Sleman, DIY yang berasal dari empat sekolah dengan kategori tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Sampel penelitian ditentukan dengan stratified proportional random sampling technique. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes diagnostik terdiri atas 5 butir soal, angket self-efficacy, dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan siswa dalam pemecahan masalah matematika berbentuk soal cerita terletak pada pengetahuan faktual, pengetahuan konseptual, pengetahuan prosedural, dan pengetahuan metakognitif. Jenis kesulitan yang dialami siswa yaitu pada mengingat fakta, mengingat konsep, memahami fakta, memahami konsep, menerapkan konsep, menerapkan prosedur, menganalisis prosedur, mengevaluasi faktual, mengevaluasi konsep, mengevaluasi prosedur, dan mengomunikasikan metakognitif. Faktor-faktor kesulitan yang dialami siswa SMP dalam memecahkan masalah matematika berbentuk soal cerita kelas VIII yaitu siswa merasa waktu yang diberikan tidak cukup, mudah menyerah, kurang teliti, sering lupa, merasa cemas, dan siswa tergesa-gesa untuk mengerjakan soal. Self-efficacy dari 124 siswa berada dalam kategori tinggi dengan rata-rata sebesar 90,4.Kata Kunci: analisis kesulitan siswa, self-efficacy, pemecahan masalah matematika, soal cerita AN ANALYSIS OF DIFFICULTIES AND SELF-EFFICACY OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN SOLVING STORY FORM MATHEMATICAL PROBLEMS AbstractThis research aimed to describe the positions, types, difficulty factors, and self-efficacy of junior high school students in Sleman, DIY in solving story form mathematical problems. This study was survey research using the quantitative and kualitative approach. The subjects of this research were 124 students of private junior high schools in Sleman, DIY, which were from four different school groups in the high, middle, and low categories. The sample was established using the stratified proportional random sampling technique. The instruments which were used namely diagnostic test that consisted of 5 items, self-efficacy questionnaire, and interview guides. The results indicate that students’ difficulties in solving story form mathematical problems lie on factual knowledge, conceptual knowledge, procedural knowledge, and metacognitive knowledge. The types of difficulties experienced by students include remembering fact, remembering concept, understanding facts, understanding concept, applying concept, applying procedure, analyzing procedure, evaluating fact, evaluating concept, evaluating procedure, and communicating metacognitive. Difficulty factors that grade VIII students experience in solving story form mathematical problems include: students feel that the time given is not enough, easily give up, are not meticulous enough, oftenly forget, and are anxious and impatient while solving the problems. The self-efficacy of 124 students can be categorized as high with an average score of 90.4.Keywords: analysis of students’ difficulties, self-efficacy, mathematics problem solving, story problem.

This study aimed to determine the factors affecting writing skill quality and the level of their contribution to help language teachers to formulate more effective strategies using CAT to enhance writing skill. The correlating factors discussed in this research were students’ reading comprehension skill, vocabulary mastery, and attitude toward language.  The study applied quantitative approach with simple and multiple correlation and regression techniques. The samples of the study were 100 students taken using stratified random sampling technique from a population of 2000 junior high school students in Surakarta City. The data were collected using multiple choice test for students’ reading comprehension skills and vocabulary mastery, writing assignments, and questionnaires for their attitudes toward the Indonesian language. The findings showed that there are positive correlations between the independent variables, either individually or simultaneously, with writing skill. The individual contribution levels is 44.75% of reading comprehension skill, 27.70% of vocabulary mastery, and 28.5% of attitude toward language. As for the simultaneous correlation of the three determining factors make up to 45.16%. contribution level to writing skill quality. Thus it can be concluded that reading comprehension has the most contribution to writing skill compared to vocabulary mastery and attitude toward language. The identified levels of contribution can be taken into consideration in formulating teaching strategies and materials to enhance writing skill quality.
